A few months ago I got a quote from Anderson Propane in addition to the other propane providers in Fredericksburg. I chose them because they had the soonest install date. They pushed me to sign a credit application for service even though the quote I requested was for a cash price of the install of a new 100 gallon propane tank, a new line to my gas grill, and a safety check. I wanted to own the equipment. I had to verbally and via email refuse to sign the credit application because you don't get an 800 credit score like mine if you allow these companies to continually run your credit and run up the hard inquiries on your report. This causes companies to feel uneasy as you may accept every credit application and over extend your ability to pay them back, even if you don't accept any of the credit offers. I ordered an install of a new propane tank. I was asked to come into their office on Halloween to sign the permit paperwork and when I did, it took them about ten minutes to acknowledge my presence waiting in front of their desk for them to get off their phones and call me forward. It then took another five minutes to find my paperwork and gather the notary to sign it. The office staff seemed very inattentive and didn't smile. I didn't feel welcome. I set up my account and signed the permit application for the county. They seemed agitated that I would read the paperwork before I signed. They also had no idea, when I asked questions about the paperwork, of what the answers were. The common answer they gave was "I don't know, this is just what the county wants us to sign." My install was scheduled for November 11th from 12-5pm. On Nov 5th, Anderson Propane called me to let me know that they should be done with their early morning job early, and to ask if I could be available from 8am until 12PM. I said I could and kept my day clear of appointments or any Veterans Day activities. The 11th came and I sat around waiting for Anderson Propane to show up and install my tank. By noon I figured that the morning job had issues and ran over, so I continued to wait well into my original appointment time. At 2:53PM I called Anderson Propane and asked where the install team was. The 4 minute call was mostly silent as they tried to figure out what was going on. The lady on the phone told me that she would need to call someone and call me back. At 3:29PM, I was called back and informed that my permit application had not come back from the county yet and they should have called me to let me know that they needed to reschedule that morning. After wasting a whole day, Veterans Day (and I'm a veteran) all they could do to compensate me for my wasted time and their admitted error, was to reschedule the install. They acted as if this was the best they could do to fix their error. I asked her if that is the level of professionalism that I can expect from their company and she told me no. She asked if I wanted to reschedule the install, but believing that the first impression of the office staff and the error in not informing me to not wait around all day was an accurate representation of the company, I decided to not move forward with the install unless they can compensate me for their "No Show". Seeing as these companies charge for No Shows, I felt I should be compensated in some way for seven hours of my wasted time and plans withheld for a company that failed to let me know that the permit hasn't gone through. Conclusion? This company is far more interested in customers that they can run credit on and have credit fees charged on their contracted / rented tanks customer accounts as that provides them more revenue. And it shows! They could care less for customers paying cash for an install of a new tank and lines. Because that customer has no contractual obligation to keep using their gas delivery service at locked-in higher prices. If they can't lock you into a contact, they don't care about you. Once they have you under contract, you're obligated to them and they don't have any incentive to care about you either. Look elsewhere for service! read more

bot gas logs on March 1, 2014, paid for them on the spot and were told that they would be delivered to our rental house the following week. Didn't happen. Several calls later, (April) we were finally told that they were "back ordered" but had just come in. Several calls later we were told that "our manager quit" so we have had problems. But the logs would be delivered in the following week. No delivery. Several calls later, including today, logs still not there, answering service answered the phone. Now it has been 3 months with no logs, no clear idea about when they will be delivered, no follow up calls. read more

Less than 1 star, they are terrible on filling tanks that don't have a lot of usage. When you put in a ticket at less than 5% of tank remaining it's a 5 day wait. If you call they try to get you to talk to the dispatcher instead of following up with dispatch themselves and giving you a clear delivery schedule. Don't take their word at it's an automatic delivery I've had to call every time to keep it filled. read more

I have dealt with Anderson for over 10 years and am being forced to write one last check to them, after having vacated the rental property I was in over two months ago. I am being charged an annual rental fee for the tank because I didn't buy enough fuel from them. Their office told me that typically the landlord covers the rental fee but they have no contract with the landlord so I am stuck paying the fee even though I no longer live there. I even gave them notice months before that I would be departing but here I am being billed for no good reason. Last year they failed to refill my tank and when it ran out of fuel in the middle of winter they attempted to charge me an emergency refill fee saying it wasn't empty. I told them nothing was done to the system except adding fuel and everything worked. They refused to admit it was their fault and supposedly sent an expert to check the system who proceeded to make the heat unit inoperable, after which he said I don't know anything about this type of system... The company refused to pay to get the system back on line... Buyer beware, these people are unethical and will do anything to get an extra buck out of their customers. Customer service from them will come with some extorted costs... read more

Bought a rental house serviced by Anderson Propane. The tenant never notified Anderson Propane since there was propane in the tank (1/2 full). After 2 years, they removed the tank without notice of any kind and took $155 of my propane with them). When I called to find out what happened, they told me they charge $50 year rental (times 2 years) and also charge for removing the tank. That was their justification for keeping the fuel. That was news to me since I was not informed the tank was being rented. The previous owner informed Anderson Propane they were selling the house but in spite of that, they (AP) never sent me any notice of any kind. Customer Service said it was my responsibility to contact them. How can they take my propane if I had no contract with them? Am I missing something? Don't do business with these people. After a horrible experience with AMERIGAS, I called Anderson. Wow what a contrast. I called at 4:59 and the woman that answered listed to my dilemma and CARED, she said she would have a person call me ASAP. Within 5 minutes ( after they officially closed) he called me and offered to help. He set an apt at 8 am the next day. Customer Service is simply, not necessarily easy but it is simple. Perhaps Amerigas employees should contact ANDERSON and learn GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE 5 STARS. read more

I will give them zero stars if I could,I feel like I really need to share my terrible experience from Anderson,my restaurant's appliances start making ashes,I call there customer service on Nov.4, they finally send someone on Nov.11 and which is they find out the pressure are only at "9", the technical worker tell me that pressure at least to be 12,and they have to order the part, it probably will take two days, and a week later I didn't heard anything back from them, I called the customer service,someone told me it's there problems they will chose a day come back, I said my appliances are not working good anymore, I need them back as soon as possible, so we made the appointment on Nov.25, they give me the time from 8:00-10:00am, until 9:53 I still didn't receive a message tell me that they send someone out, I called again a lady told me that there was an emergency called this area that's why they can't be here on time, and at 10:03 I got a called from them saying that he was there now, I went there he finally put the part on, he trying to leave I asked him to go inside to checked on my appliances to make sure the pressure are working good now,and he just walked around and took some pictures saying that the reason to make those ashes are all my restaurant 's appliances need to be clean which includes my new fryer, and he wasn't checked the pressure, after I requested so many times he finally checked the pressure of my water heat, and it's working good now, and he left,and thanks God all my appliances are not making any ashes now, but I received a bill from them they have to charge me for two hours service because they said they don't respond what inside service, they only respond outside , I have a question there company put a new part on, are they supposed to be sure everything to be working good? When my heater went out, we were relying on our propane. Not knowing when our heater was going to be fixed, I called Anderson Propane and even though they seemed overwhelmed customer service (shout out to Stephanie!) was so wonderful. I was told that because they had so many deliveries they wouldn't be able to get to us sometime this week. Little did I know, they came that day! (Shout out to James!)
