I have been to 98 different race tracks and have experience driving, watching, and being a member of media. Let me start with the positive. They kept the program moving with no dead time between races. Of the tracks I have been to, this was one of the dustiest dirt tracks ever I have been to. Watering the track and tamping it down before the main feature did not help. From the fourth turn, I could not see the cars in the first turn. Fans took cover on every lap. I am used to getting dusted, but this was terrible. I had a beer, and in a few laps, I had to blow off the dust. Dust raised over the front wall like breakers at the beach. Walking under the main grandstands, you could see the dust pattern that formed through the slots in the seating. I remind you, I have been to many dirt tracks, but his was not pleasant. Concessions were not good. My friend is a Hoosier native, he ordered a tenderloin and rated it as poor. I wanted a Salisbury steak, and while on the menu, it was not available. Neither were the premium beers. My pretzel was tasteless and basically bread. Ick. Exiting the track after the main event was a joke. Only one gate was open for fans to exit. It was three feet wide, and crowds formed pushing and shoving their way through the eye of the needle. Local, frequent fans may disagree with me out of familiarity. Folks, if this is you, go see other tracks and learn how the right way is to run a dirt track. You can choose to blow me off as a grumpy old man, but think through what I said and make your own decisions. There are better run events elsewhere.

We were immediately greeted with a big smile from a gentleman who proudly shared that he's been working there for 23 years. He took the time to explain everything, from the teen karts (which go up to 30 mph) to the adult karts (up to 40 mph). I was impressed to learn that licensed 16-year-olds can drive the adult karts..neat and a little scary! They offer a private room, though note that private events aren't booked on weekends and reservations aren't taken. However, if it's not busy, the private room is often available. Also, any racer under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian 24 hours in advance. The day of the party, we arrived early since it's first-come, first-served. The ladies at the counter were friendly and set us up in the private room, which was perfect for our group of twelve 16-year-olds. The space is roomy, has AV capabilities, and features a huge window overlooking the track. There's even an order window in the room for added convenience! The food options exceeded my expectations as well--the menu is larger than I expected, and the pizzas and tater tots we ordered were pretty tasty. We'll definitely be back. Such a great experience!

When we went to pay for the three of us (myself, wife, and 2yr old daughter) it was $90 to get into the pits. We've been to plenty of tracks before we had a little one and are totally used to how much it is to get into the pits- but didn't expect them to charge full adult price for a toddler who was going to be carried the whole time. Especially when general admission is free for kids under 14. When we asked why it was full price for her- and not maybe half price ($15) we were met with a rude attitude from the woman in the booth. We ended up paying to stay since we drove all that way but we won't be back and we will be sure to forward the info on to all our racer friends and fans.

The racing is action packed with Modifieds and stock cars weekly along with a lot of special classes. Concessions are very good and fairly priced. The track has a lot of history and has been there since the early 1900's; however, the facilities are very modern and recently remodeled. Racing at the Montpelier track is a great experience for any family.

There isn't a bad seat in the house however I suggest bringing bleacher seats for the wooden bleachers. Hold off on eating dinner before you come as well. Their nachos are delicious and their tenderloins look pretty good. I LOVE the margaritas that they sell and the sugar rim tops it off perfectly. For the kids or kids at heart, they have snow cones, cotton candy, and dippin dots! The biggest complaint I have for this place is that many fans smoke in the stands and it's hard to get away from the smell. I wish they would ban smoking. Also be prepared to hear some foul language as the fans are really invested into the races. If you can handle those few bad things, come on out for family fun at the Indianapolis Speedrome

The seats would be my only complaint, but if we had been here before we would have known to bring a cushion or something because these wooden bleachers are killing my ass. The food and drinks, pizza, burgers, hotdogs, pretzels, nachos, snow cones, and of course lots of alcohol. Their are people smoking in the stands, cigarettes and other things, couple of times the smoke was a little overwhelming, maybe would've had to change seat if we had brought the kids. The parking is free, and not too long of a walk to the entrance, and I was parked all the way at the rear of the lot. Definitely would recommend.

SIT: There isn't a bad seat in the house. I like the reserved concrete spots in turn 4 where you bring your own chair but the spot is yours. Much more comfortable than bleachers. For first timers, as my friend was, guess what, it's a dirt track, so youre going to get dirty! Duh! Glasses recommended (sunglasses will do, some people use work goggles/glasses). EAT: Awesome inexpensive food. Try the pizza burger and the cheese balls. I could live off these every day. Youre allowed to bring a cooler full of anything but alcohol and glass. We brought drinks and dessert. WATCH: You get a lot of racing for the money. So enjoy!

When we get there after driving over 40 miles one way, we find out it's closed due to 'unseasonably cool weather'. Literally insult to injury when gas is $4.99 a gallon, and we foolishly passed on other opportunities for a good night out before I have to head back to South Dakota. Can't believe the FOOLS that run & own this DUMP don't/can't realize that race cars eat their best/lay down great E.T.s in temperatures in the upper 40's. The only bright side is it gives me new respect for my local track in Sturgis, even if it's only an eighth-mile. The only thing that could/would stop scheduled racing there would be major rain storms all day/night. Truly feel sorry for the guys/gals in the Tri-state area who have built bad-ass units, but Edgewater is the only place to take them without trailering hours away.

The seating is great and they really keep the excitement moving very little downtime between classes. They do charge entry for kids 6 an up which is okay just different then most tracks. Food is pretty pricey too, I recommend packing a cooler and bringing food with you.
