They kept my Regency gas stove insert running even though it is over 20 years old! We have an old wooden cottage in central PA. The fireplace insert is in a huge stone fireplace and it puts out enough hot air to keep the whole place toasty. The old gas fireplace stove had been running sporadically. Mike came out to do a regular cleaning/service/safety check. He took the whole stove apart, cleaned all the parts and put em back together. This took over 2 hours and was included in the basic annual service charge. He even vacuumed the exterior of the fireplace, stove and hearth - that really please my wife. Called them for Chimney and Fire place inspection and to service gas logs. Received inspection report with photos of Chimney stack they are proposing repair work but no photos of interior inspection of chimney. And, more importantly, very little information concerning chimney condition and integrity of interior lining. Received proposal to Replace chimney Crown, Flashing, power wash and seal bricks. Estimated at a little over $4,000. The Technician that came to my home was polite and professional. I did watch as they worked -- cleaning fireplace, did not see them inspect interior of Chimney. Technician also showed me random photos from internet of Chimney stack (above roof) tops to explain issues with "crown" but did not show me pictures of my chimney. Then he went to truck and returned with tablet (ipad?) to have me sign and pay inspection bill. Said I would receive inspection report and a proposal for recommended work via e-mail. Did receive them. No contemplating recommendation -- proposed work. read more

I had used this service for many years BUT...In August 2024 I was informed by Anderson's that my wood stove needed repair. I agreed to the repair in August and was told I would be given a quote and the work would be completed . The work was still not complete by October and I was then contacted by Anderson's that they needed me to pay for parts up front. Again they were supposed to get back to me in August. I paid their advance bill in October only because I prompted the discussion and waited. On November 7th they came to repair the wood stove but broke the stove door's plate glass and took it to the shop for repair. They promised to return November 14th to install the repaired door. No one showed. When I called the office they blamed the technician. I then talked to the technician. He told me the replacement glass arrived broken and that it would have to be reordered. He said the admin staff should have called to inform me of the new delay. Then I talked to the office manager who said they would have to follow-up with ordering more glass since they hadn't yet done that! In summary, a job that was promised to be completed in August 2024 is still not complete as of November 16, 2024 and the company took my money up front. We had Anderson's come out to prepare us for the heating season. Cleaned our gas stove which hadn't run over 5 years. Works perfectly. Had both Chimney's lined and insulated for our fireplace and Wood stove. Perfect! Installed a big Osborn insert in the fireplace and it works like a champ! The first cold months of November and December we didn't worry. Great job guys! Purchased through Anderson, my Fire Chief 1000e wood furnace; had it installed DEC 20. Very good installers and they knew when to stop, meaning, hooking the furnace into my HVAC system. Heck, one of them was even a fellow Army Ranger! We hired them to sweep our chimneys..we had a strong wind a week later and soot from the chimney blew onto our white rug. Professional cleaning wasn't able to remove it, we'll have to buy a new rug. They left with one damper partially open without telling us.. we keep it completely open, which they knew, first fire filled the house with smoke. The work they did was fine, but being misled by the salesman on pricing for the work drove me to add this business to ones to avoid. In 2015, the salesman told me in order to keep a warranty active that was done through Anderson Chimney, I was to have a $99.00 inspection done annually I would get a $20.00 coupon for, dropping the inspection price to $79.00. Every year this price has gone up. 2019 the price is $189.00 and I only got a $10.00 coupon! This is an almost $100 increase from 2015 to 2019! I feel misled by the salesman who gave me such a more affordable price for the annual inspections. read more

The Edwin and Luis completed a chimmney clening job at my home. my fireplace had not been cleaned in years so there was much work to perform. Edwin and Luis are efficeint , professional, tidy and courteous. i find these gentlemen to be very accomplished in their skills and the job was performed beautifully. We hired Anderson's back in May 2021 to put stone over brick on the exterior chimney at our house. At first I was pleasantly surprised in how quickly they came to give the estimate. They seemed professional and capable. They even offered a military discount, which was awesome! Unfortunately, everything went downhill after that. I called more than 5 times over the next 2 months trying to request to see samples of the stone that they'd be using. I wanted to be sure the colors wouldn't clash with my siding, existing brick, and trim. For some reason though, every time I called I got Heather...who ASSURED me that somebody would be in touch. It never happened. Meanwhile, I also couldn't get updated copies of the contract that they wanted me to sign that reflected the 10% military discount. And every time I called to remind them of this it seemed like it was new information to them. Ultimately, I decided to cancel the job. I don't understand how a company with such seemingly positive reviews, can't honor a simple request to see samples! This is not the way business should be conducted. These guys are GREAT! In winter, our chimney seemed clogged; so it took two weeks to get someone out. Fast forward and it was worth the delay. They guys , Mike and Ed, were great. I would give 0 stars if I could. I paid them $200 for an inspection to tell me I need $10000 worth of work and little else. No options, no explanations. The chimney and fireplace are far from dilapidated and I could rebuild it for that. Any work I end up getting done will go to someone else due to their inability to explain any type of options. I would highly recommend Anderson's Chimney & Masonry Service. We have used this company several times to have our chimney cleaned and inspected. Most recently, Matthew and Dwayne cleaned our chimney. I was able to view pictures before and after. Matthew explained that due to code changes, some additional work to seal some internal bricks with holes should be considered. We chose to have that work completed. Matthew and Dwayne, and everyone I encountered in my calls, were very professional and personable. Today, Matthew showed me photos of the sealing that was done. The guys are very clean with their work and provide follow up instructions. Setting up the services was prompt and occurred in the agreed upon time period during the day. This is a good company. If I could give them a zero, I would. I ordered a gas stove from them in early December after they were here to do a chimney inspection. The tech took measurements and specs and things were fine. I have had 5 different calls from them scheduling the delivery, and each time it has been a no-show (once for weather, I'll give them that) - but they never call, and when you call them you just get a brush-off, "oh the parts are out of stock" - none of this is custom work, nor complicated - I could have ordered all of these things online and had them here within a couple of weeks. Then on top of that, they actually did show up once, with the completely wrong stove and other parts not correct either. I will not do business with or recommend them to anyone. I've wasted more than two months for a simple project, and I had taken out my existing gas log in preparation for this, and have since had a cold basement since I was waiting all this time and still no stove. They really don't seem to have a clue how to do this. read more

We hired them for an inspection of our chimney in a house we just purchased. They gave us a large list of emergent repairs to do warning us of a fire risk. After getting a second opinion (this one with photos you could actually see) we were told the entire first estimate was an enormous upsell. We needed no major repairs. Inspectors were great, friendly, and very knowledgable. Was to receive follow up afterwards from office to pay bill and order a part needed after they researched it. Unfortunately I heard nothing from the office and the next correspondence I receive is a bill with late fees for invoice. Really dropped ball on follow up and correspondence. read more

Watch out for these guys. Came to do a chimney inspection but never took off the cap because it was screwed on. Using another service from Carlisle, it was one screw. Also, they missed that my damper was warped. What they did do is sent me a full bill for the service. read more
