I just had her food on Thayer and I couldn't recommend it enough! It had a very homemade feel in the best way possible :)!

We went…read morearound 6:00 on a Saturday night so I was a little worried there wouldn't be a table available. Thankfully they had plenty and we were seated right away. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a massive and well stocked bar. We were seated next to the bar and window and I will say that it made for a pretty loud experience. Nothing they can necessarily do about that though. Our waitress was attentive and had great recommendations for food. I ordered the iced tea and the "incredible burrito". Our food came out quickly and I was impressed by the portion sizes and quality of the food. If I had to give a minor criticism is that I felt the plate was actually a bit too small for the meal. Everything kind of melded together and fell off the plate. However, everything else was great. The rice was plentiful and had a nice flavor. The chili was a great addition and the burrito itself was filled well and I enjoyed the chicken and beef. This is definitely a place I would come back to, and with such an expansive menu there's something different you could try each time you come in.

It was pretty packed for a late night. We were seated at a booth immediately upon entering, and our waitress brought us out some water. She gave us the taco options; they were pretty standard in that it was beef, chicken, pork, or veggies and either ground or shredded. We realized that on Tuesdays, they offer these tacos for $2 when you buy a drink which is a good deal considering they were big and filling. We ended up ordering 2 crunchy tacos and 2 soft tacos, beef and pork. To accompany the tacos, we tried their buff-a-que wings. We thought $15 was a lot for wings since it was on the appetizer menu, but it came with 10 wings so not bad. They were okay; the skin was grilled, but the flavor was a but subtle. The tacos were big, and decent. The meat was tender, and flavorful, and the lettuce and tomato made them taste more fresh.

The staff are attentive and explained each dish and were able to make accommodation to some of my family who had dietary restrictions. I ordered some Classic flauntas! My favorite dish with chicken. Each roll had chicken filling and looked large because it has two tortillas rolled into one to extend the tortilla roll! The dish had 3 large flauntas, and it was very crunchy and savory. Toppings were lettuce and refried beans. I asked for no cheese or sour cream and I'm glad they accommodate my preference! Delicious and authentic.

We started with queso fundido (so indulgently cheesy and tasty) and chips & refried beans. Then we had various types of tacos: I had the barbacoa, carnitas, and the chicken (which I'd never had before). All were good (but next time, I'll pass on the chicken for the shredded pork or beef). Unfortunately, our all-time favorite - lengua - was unavailable due to the current high cost of beef tongue. (Hopefully, once the Fed stops raising rates and pushes inflation back down, lengua will be affordable enough for these savory street tacos ...). My wife's mushroom quesadillas were also very good. This time we tried something new: the ensalada de nopales. This was very flavorful (muy picante!) and delicious. We will be adding this to our favorites list!

The menu is small and yet there's always plenty of yummy things to try when I go, even as a picky eater. There are multiple vegetarian and even a vegan option or two. I always have to get the guac when I come here - it's the perfect amount of creaminess without too much onion. Their red salsa is a great slightly chunky - slightly juicy texture and has a bit of a kick. The vegan burrito bowl is my go-to as a vegetarian, and the street corn side as an app is elite! It is a little spicier these days since the recipe was updated from on the cob to off the cob (I much prefer off for ease of eating and sharing!) The Coconut Cartel margarita was creamy and smooth and went down *quick* haha. Others in my party loved the spicy Margarito, although they were out of the main spicy tequila but the servers offered substitute recommendations. I came with a very large work group today, and the servers were so patient and flexible when we asked for modifications from the menu. I even was able to order the queso dip with the chorizo on the side (yummy but very thick cheese dip!), and they were very attentive of my colleague's mushroom allergy and made sure she got dedicated dishes, even when we were all sharing apps. The churro donuts seem to have changed recipe and got mixed reviews - some thought they were dry, another says she Uber Eats just those regularly Sitting outside in the summer on the patio is nice. Tasty, interesting dishes with modern urban twists on Mexican recipes. Truly the only slight downside is that sometimes parking can be tricky in this area, but you can always find free street parking, it may just take you a little bit. Even the funky and creative decor is a selling feature for me. A must-try!
