My sophomore year I was in a room with bad heat and no insulation in a place where the snow got so bad they had to shut the college down for a few days! When my roommates boyfriend sent me emails telling me to kill myself, I reported it to my RA who told me to try and suck it up as she was leaving for Study abroad next semester. When I was rush to the hospital with what turned out to be kidney stones, campus safety first told me it was just food poisoning because they had had 3 cases that week. Never mind that the head of the French department spoke French as a THIRD Language and the heads of the theater department had the lowest ratings on Rate my Professor. I am sad that this place is clearly a commuter college, disguised to look like a traditional school.

However, the library in this campus is my go-to for studying, especially knowing that a lot of popular restaurants and festivities occur around the area. It is also very conveniently located, as if I'm ever nearby and do not wish to wait on line for the Starbucks bathroom, I can simply swipe my stormcard here and stop by the bathroom. Furthermore, I really am impressed with the layout, appearance and cleanliness of this building as a whole. Did I mention this is a great study area?... especially for SJU students who live in the borough who do not want to commute all the way to the Queens campus.

Credits: All the credits you take here our state schools will except so if you plan to transfer to southern, westconn, eastern, or central after this your covered! Im looking to transfer next semester and my advisors are telling me since I have so many great credits already finished at Ncc it will only take me around another year instead of 2 years to finish :) Campus life: Even though people dont think you really get a college experience at a community college it is really what you make of it honestly you can. We have great clubs like anime club, art club, business club, even things for community service. We also have a great cafeteria with honestly pretty decent food. The school itself is always spotless and beautiful. I have made tons of life long friends here and the great part about community college is most of them live in your area so you can still hang out during things like winter break because they are not going to fly half way across the world. Misconceptions: A lot of students don't want to go to community college because they thing they will be surrounded by older People who they cant relate to or people who did really bad in high school. That is really not true, sure you are going to get a diverse group of people like anywhere else. I can tell you most people here are really motivated and friendly.

As a result, I was able to secure public and private scholarships. And the school's foundation because of my involvement in the honor society. student government, and stellar recommendations from my Professors awarded me additional funds out of the school's foundation. I finished my degree in software engineering at UConn Storrs basically for free and debt free. I heavily recommend trying this institution.

my review is specifically regarding the nursing program as a parent of a student who is a commuter…read more The university boasts about its great opportunities in comparison to other nursing programs, during the visit they mentioned the prestigious coalitions with renown hospitals for student placement during practice but instead I have heard directly from my daughter who tells me that the last semester has been spent traveling into the city, paying parking, enduring traffic only to be told that their group is not able to interact with patient. This same scenario has been repeating for weeks. It is not the inability to be on the floor that causes frustration but the lack of care from the administration who despite repeated calls and emails to the Nursing Dean no response or explanation has been given to the students. This shows the lack of regard for the student and families who are paying their hard earn money. I am writing this for any incoming students and their families so they will ask the questions before committing.

better late then never but mercy college was worth the delayed yelp review. i went for one semester…read moreat the white plains campus and its a shame that work got in the way cause i was having a good time from interesting classes , helpful professors, class rooms that were not overcrowded and a study library that served as a my nap space when no one notice me snoozing. i couldnt ask for more as college was walking distance from my apt and tuition was really really in my price range which was important cause i was semi broke at the time. glad mercy college still has a campus in white plains and if i could go back in time i would have stayed in school and leeched off my daddy to pay the bills or been a male escort to pay for tuition.
