So even if you call them for drywall, they can also do lots of other stuff - carpentry, paint, misc handyman, waterproofing, framing repairs, concrete, you name it.) Perhaps the thing that I like the most is how quickly they can accommodate and scale. While they were working on some cabinetry, I mentioned to their lead the flooring needed some fixes. Boom - their flooring guy is there the next day fixing the bad floor planks at the same hourly rate. They seem to have a large roster of motivated workers that show up on time and do the job to spec. I've had trouble with crews not showing or not finishing the job over the years - but not with Amador's. I was told long ago by family to never hire contractors on an hourly basis because costs can spiral. And before I knew what I was doing as a homeowner I might've been inclined to follow this advice. But Amador's charges a reasonable rate and works with efficiency - so this is how I work with them. I even trust them to let other workers into the house and report on their work. A lot of this comes down to whoever your point of contact is. On the most recent job, that's been Leo, and he is exceptional: attentive to detail, diligent, organized. In a way I'm sad my current project is ending - I just enjoy working with them.

While were dealing with our roof leak issue, Greg helped out in many other ways. In addition to recommending a roofing contractor (which we ended up using), he also climbed up onto our roof (two story home), took many pictures, and consulted with a roofing contractor buddy of his, which I really appreciated! Before he could finish the job, we needed to make sure the leak was addressed. With the 10 week+ backlog, this meant doing the demo work and then not being able to complete the job (and be paid) for nearly 10 weeks. I felt terrible and offered to pay him upfront but he refused and said he had no issue waiting. Additionally, once the roof work was completed, he graciously offered to climb back up on the roof to do some water testing so we could be sure the roof repairs addressed the issue prior to rebuilding the bedroom closet that was damaged. Greg's work is great and he's very clean, always laying down paper to protect flooring and installing plastic barriers to prevent splatter from spraying knockdown texture. He also explains what he's going to do and is generally just a cool guy to chat with. Recently, we had some more work done and he responded quickly and did some additional repair/patch work for us. Lastly, he also spent time showing me how to do small patches and texture, even giving me a texture sponge and a sanding sponge. As you can see, Greg goes above and beyond for his clients - it's awesome to know that he'll take care of us if we ever have drywall work that needs to be done in the future.

Vilsen came to give me a quote and was very honest about the level of work this project would take and he made recommendations to help bring our cost down (for example, it would be cheaper to buy new closet doors than to resurface and paint the old ones). He gave me a quote within 24 hours and I decided to move forward with him. On the first day of the job Vilsen and his team moved all of our furniture and covered everything to protect it from the dust. The team was very efficient and they even started the resurfacing on day 1. During the project, I also had new floors going in - Vilsen was able to work around the flooring team. He was always cheery, communicative, and willing to go the extra mile. Despite floor installation interfering with painting, Vilsen finished our project in record timing.
