Ray apologized and said he could have Jorge come back and fix them, I said no, if this is how he left them I don't want Jorge "fixing" them. His other solution was his other painter coming back from Mexico mid February. Well we still haven't heard from Ray about fixing the doors. He has completely taken our money and ghosted us now, not returning voicemails or texts from my husband and I. I feel very taken advantage of. Also we finally found the name of this company matching his name and phone number bc he told us the name of his company was J R painting, which I couldn't find on the internet anywhere. Well here is your one star review Ray. I'd give you ZERO stars if I could. Do not use him as your painting company!

Unlike a couple of his colleagues, who were rude and dismissive on the phone (and one of whom has yet to call me back, a week later), John answered the phone promptly (on a Sunday!), addressed all of my questions, asked all of the right ones, and waited patiently while I consulted with my wife on his quote. He came the very next day, and completed the job in less than a day and a half. John provided expert input in choosing a shade and finish (who knew that white paint is not just white paint, or the secret to choosing the right white?). He showed up equipped with a copy of his license, insurance and bonding papers. Although he had to move some furniture and other items to do the job (and did so single-handedly and without complaint), he was able to get the job done with absolutely no disruption to the household. And it is truly the best paint job I have ever seen. John's business is called East Bay PAINTER, but it turns out that's not all he does. While he was working, I asked whether he happened to know a good handyman who could remove an old decaying wall cabinet and install shelves. John was happy to do the job, came back a couple of days later, and -- once again -- did a fast, efficient, reliable and professional job, even hauling away the old cabinet. Although he does not sell himself cheap (nor should he -- he is a topflight professional artist and craftsman!), John's prices are reasonable and competitive. John, you have certainly not seen the last of me!

I think he may have even saved our marriage! After the Direct TV installer left a mess, we needed it fixed. We hired a handyman off of Craiglist, which I do not recommend. He assured us he could clean up and make the house look like nothing had happened. He lied. When he was done, there were noticeable spots on the house, and we were out $200. I came to Yelp to find a painter to fix the mess this handyman had left behind. Well, I should have come to Yelp in the first place . . . I called John at East Bay Painter and told him our situation. He came by our house in an hour and gave us his assessment of what needed to be done and quoted a price cheaper than the stupid handyman from Craigslist. Within a week from his visit, he got a sample from the house to get the matching paint, painted the messed up area for an amazingly affordable price. I never dreamed that I could afford such a professional and pleasant painter for such a reasonable price! It was a relatively small job, but he treated us with the same level of respect as if we were having him paint the whole house. If you need anything painted, give John a call. They power washed my house that Wednesday. They told me would be back the following Monday. (That's an old contractor's trick). They resumed the following Monday. They were here all the following week which was not the plan. 1. They cut a wire to my Bay Alarm security system and damaged several connection points. 2. They broke the transformer to my landscape lighting. 3. They painted over the cobwebs in my breezeway. 4. They left my 50 ft. garden hose in knots. 5. They broke the latch on my front gate. I hadn't realized all the damage done but Harold took $200 off my bill. I won't recommend this company.

Paul Ortiz and his crew laid down large 18" travertine tile in our house years ago and I was…read morethoroughly impressed by their work ethic and their focus on detail. Not only did they do a beautiful job, but they laid down a layer of membrane below the type to prevent the cracks in my concrete from coming through and cracking the new tiles. One member of his crew tool the stone (i supplied) and rounded off all their corners to make sure they don't catch the feet of people walking on it. His crew worked HARD and the results showed. Paul was not the cheapest quote i received, but he was clearly the most capable. I highly recommend his work!

I asked him to drop by and see my project. We set a time for a few days later. Paul showed up right at that time. I announced that since the day I had talked to him, I was leaning away from epoxy and towards urethane grouting, due to its elasticity. Paul spent 15 or 20 minutes at my home, and in the end suggested that I could install the urethane grout on my own. I knew I couldn't handle the epoxy, but indeed it had crossed my mind that I could manage the urethane and I told him so. I offered to pay him for his time but he refused. I'm writing these comments in hopes that others will call upon him for his services. People like Mr. Ortiz are few and far between. I want to thank him.
