Olanescu is very good. Alina is great. However there is room for improvement.

This review is long overdue. Have been a patient of Dr. Olanescu's for 7 years now. Has been the best gynecologist I've had. Everything is onsite. She is compassionate and kind. Truly a professional. Aware of the negative reviews due to wait time. Most Dr's offices one expects a wait time. But Dr. Olanescu is very good at what she does. Personally feel indebted to her for some bartholin gland issues. A job that was done meticulously. Would never ever go to the hospital and risk being butchered. Dr. Olanescu is amazing feel grateful to have found her. Go with an open mind, patience yes book your appointment prepare to be there for awhile bring a good book. Ask you questions when she's in the room with you. She doesn't rush you will answer your questions/concerns. Hoping this helps she really is a great Doctor. Ok. Let's begin by saying that I hate to open accts on sites like this one -nothing personal, I just don't like it- but I overcame that feeling and opened this acct because I consider my moral obligation to warn people about this woman. I went to her office and after a long wait, during which I was even denied permission -me being a diabetic- to step out for a min to get a snack because I was not feeling well - needed some sugar or something- I finally got to see the Dr. She came in, throwing blessings up and down, and talking in this suspicious soft spoken tone, talking to me about having beautiful babies soon, etc (while I was of course thinking that she was completely crazy since I was there because of a menstrual disorder not because I was trying to get or even suspicious of being pregnant) Anyway, then she proceed to do her evaluation which consisted in her rambling non sense for about 5 mins and then she left and had a nurse come in to do an intravaginal ultrasound. During those five mins in which he "evaluated me" this woman didn't even ask me what kind of work I do. To her I could have been a sex worker or a nun and that apparently does not matter. She didn't even ask me if I was sexually active, if I have had any pregnancies, or what kind of protection do I use when I have sex. She didn't even perform a breast exam, and her pelvic examination was definetely not detailed-oriented. She didn't ask me how often do I get my period or if I had used birth control before or even if I wanted to consider that. And, aside from her weird personal style, I mean, those are VITAL, BASIC questions that ANY OBGYN doctor should ask, especially on a first visit. I really want to warn all the women out there that are considering going to be seen by this woman. Do yourself a favor, and find another Dr. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME NOR PUT YOUR HEALTH IN JEOPARDY by going to this woman. PLEASE. read more

Visit #1: I waited 4 hours until I was seen. The lady at the front desk failed to inform any of the patients of any delays. When I was finally seen, I had concerns that I wanted to go over. She spent approx 5 mins with me, then passed me onto a nurse for an ultrasound with no further information. The nurse informed me that she was unable to advise me about any condition without consulting the Dr. I was to await a call. Visit #2: Since no call was made, I made another appointment to be seen so I again can speak to the Dr. directly. I waited 2 hours this time and was not seen by the Dr. A woman pulled my file and stated that there was nothing to be concerned about. I didn't have a chance to speak to Dr. Olanescu. Visit #3: (and final visit) I waited in the waiting room for an hour. When I spoke to the young lady (with dyed red hair) at the front desk, she showed absolutely no compassion nor concern about the wait. I asked if she planned on informing the waiting patients of what the delay was and she said that the Dr. was not in the office. When I asked if she felt that was important information to share for waiting appointments she shrugged her shoulders. An older women interjected "The Dr. is not here and has been messaging us that she will be in in 10 mins, however has been saying that for the past 3 hours. She has not been in yet." In an environment where you are dealing with people who are seeking medical advice and attention, it is not too much to expect compassion and courtesy. This minimum expectation is far from being met. I suggest that if you are seeking an OB/GYN you steer clear of this establishment. Not only do they lack common courtesy, but they lack professionalism. They shouldn't bite off more than they can chew with patients as it's obvious with the quantity, lacks quality. read more

I can't tell you about the visit there because I won't be going. Now I see by reading all of the other reviews, this is a good decision. When calling, I was put on hold (not asked, just "hold") for an extremely long time (I put it on speaker phone and started working on other things) with this loud, obnoxious, club type music (bizarre???). The receptionist kept coming back then putting me on hold without saying anything...but the worst thing is that I was hung up on twice. If this happened to me just on the phone, I can't imagine what the in-office service is like (actually i can since I just read the reviews). Yikes! read more

I wish there were negative starts. I stayed there from 9 am till 1 pm to be seen for 1 minute and the doctor didn't even come back to answer my questions regarding my case . 4 hours of wait to see the doctor for 1 or 2 minutes . She told me the medicine I was taking is fine without checking its components , rude staff over the phone and in person . The staff made me sign all the papers to guarantee the next 11 visits and that she will be the doctor doing the delivery before I even spoke to her . Such a waste of time and money . They refused to fax me my lab results until I make another appointment and pay again and wait again to see my results. She even determined that I will do a C- section when I was 6 weeks pregnant which is impossible to tell that early. read more

I am writing to thank the entire staff for the excellent care that i have received at doctor olanescu's office. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional.Specially her manager is the torchlight for the office. I owe my life to the doctor Olanescu for her excellent service and treatment that she has provided me throughout this year. I am very pleased since 2016 when she has done my laparoscopy at Astoria mount sinai hospital. Due to her excellent service, i have started visiting her this year for prenatal visit from Omaha. I flew on my 36 weeks to NewYork for our first child delivery with her. Me and my husband already referred two couple to start seeing her. We both believe she came to our life as a blessing as we have our fist child after 10 years of marriage life. This is an honest feedback from me as a patient, as a woman and as a mother.. F*ck this place...I just got home from an almost 3 hr wait there, first visit. After almost 2 hours, I meet for the gyn who had a very happy disposition which all lasted 25 SECONDS, put fingers in and swabbed for the pap smear. THAT WAS IT.....no breast exam. She says, get dressed and go into the next room for sonogram....rooms were full, was sent to waiting room. After another 30 minutes waiting, I couldn't hold my bladder any longer and they told me to go in for the sonogram. Less than 5 minutes and was told to go back into waiting room for another test so go pee but don't void completely. Ok, what other test lady "a test to see you pee...for your bladder"...wtf, ok..."they are going to watch me pee?" "yes...just wait". Ten minutes later..."follow me please".....leave and go into another office next door that was empty. I ask the new tech...."what are you doing exactly"..."they asked me to check your bladder I guess" "you guess??? Hold on....nobody is explaining anything here...is that a catheter???" "yes...I don't know why they requested the test" "well find out cause I'm not doing that...are you crazy....why is nobody communicating anything"...she left to go confirm with others in the original office and came back "ok, you don't have to do it if you don't want to.".....what type of unprofessional crap did I just experience??? After 3 hours, I left there really upset....I wouldn't be able to identify the doctor because that is how brief I saw her. I don't know when I get my results, if I need to go back.....someone should've come in to explain to me why the heck was I about to have a catheter shoved in my urethra!!!!!! I don't know where to begin here! We chose Andrea Olanescu as the doctor to deliver our baby in March of 2015. Later we would find out what a grave mistake we had made. The staff there is terribly rude and unprofessional on all levels. I work in the healthcare field, and I have never encountered customer service this poor in my 17 years of experience. They never pick up their phones, the doctor is never there to see you. Alina whom is a sonographer is who we saw through-out the 8 months of my pregnancy. We saw the doctor once at the beginning (only cause my husband was upset, and asked to speak with her), and another time at 9 months and finally during labor. So three times! Alina is beyond unprofessional and aggressive. The doctor will give you her direct phone, but she will respond in a robotic/generic manner when she feels like it. She makes promises and never delivers. And when you speak with her, it's like Alina is her boss! She takes directions from the sonographer! She has no backbone, and Aline writes prescriptions for her! Alina prescribed me a UTI medication(wrote out the prescription and signed in front of our faces), when I did not even have a UTI! The doctor seems to have received her degree out of a cracker jack box. You will get more information from Google than from her. This place is like a sweat shop! They take on more patients than they can handled and therefore the waits times are anywhere from 2-4+ hours long! I saw them tell a patient that the doctor was not in, even after she told them she made an appointment with her. The crazy part, was that the doctor was in fact in the office. We saw her seeing other patients. Unbelievable. The front desk, is in shambles! They will give you any excuse to reschedule your appointment or give you one with a ridiculous wait time attached to it! There equipment is out dated and their bathrooms are always out of order and filthy. During the delivery of my baby, she provided no support, no heads up of what was to come (c-section). She just came in at the final moment, did her thing, and left for good. Never came by to say, and see how I was doing, or see the baby. Nothing. Andrea has no compassion for the line of work that she does, and that's very sad, since many of her patients look for this sort of care. I am glad that this nightmare is over and my baby came into this world healthy. I could keep on going, but I just don't have the time. My advice to any mom-to-be or someone seeking an OBGYN......STEER CLEAR OF THIS CIRCUS!!!!! You will thank me later. read more

I have been a patient of Ms. Olanescu for six years and the sincerity and honestly and great service I have received from her and her staff will NEVER be forgotten she helped me give birth to my two children and continues to provide me with Heath service full of integrity and care. Yes indeed her office is busy and yes you do have to wait...I don't think anybody complains on black Friday so why complain when it comes to receiving great health service .. The receptionists are rude, especially the older lady that sits on the right side. These people have no respect for their patients time. DO NOT NOT NOT GO HERE!!! All the other reviews r 1000% right. First u sit in a small room for like 3 to 4 hours with kids running around like its a zoo and the doctor sees u for 3 to 5 minutes! God forbid u have a question after she leaves the room bc now u have to BOTHER the staff to ask ur question to the doctor. The staff is very rude and unprofessional always with a nasty attitude, not happy n pleasant at all!!! VERY DANGEROUS PLACE!!! I NEVER got a call when something in my exam came out abnormal, I actually called a week after my testing and was told by one of the incompetent staff that everything came out ok and I would receive the results by mail. After not receiving any mail from them after 2 weeks I called and was told it was mailed and another will be mailed to me. I get a call TWO days later (about 4 weeks after exam) to tell me the results could not be mailed bc something came out abnormal!!! So if I would have never called to ask for my results I would have NEVER been told about my results!! UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE!!! read more

I have to do this...I never wrote a review..but this is a joke. I had her as my doctor I was pregnant and she was my only choice on my insurance. I got stuck with her,.she takes anything (health benefits wise)..I couldnt afford anything else...just to make it short thank god my baby is safe and well...Olanescu was all fake and nice that I wanted to believe she really is nice...it came to delivery..she had me induced..which I didnt want since the begining, first of all it was because she was going on vacation and wanted to get paid for delivery. after 28 hours of pain (inducing and all wrong epidural and when it was time to push she was 1 hour late and thats is soooooo very long when you are in such pain!! in the mid time she didnt show once when I was getting induced..either..not even to check on me it was planned for sakes!! .eventually once she did show up she left me in the middle because I didnt have energy to push (a whole hour of suffering I was exhousted and just ready to die.... ) she left the room saying she wants nothing to do with me ...I was so scared somebody else came and yelled to push...eventually baby was out she showed up again last minute to take him out and really hurt me..it was not my first baby and it could of been different. it was not a proper care at all!!!!!! please dont see her if you dont have to!! She told my husband that it is a game that she plays to make women try harder to deliver when she lives the delivery room right in the middle!!! omg I just couldnt believe!! Its such a joke ..you just do not leave your patient when your most needed!!!! Awfull experience!! I wanted to have more children..now I'm just have a paranoya and anxiety about delivery......This doctor is not ok whatsoever!!!!Thank GOD!!! DO NOT VISIT THIS OFFICE! Complete waste of time and the doctor only spoke to me for 15 SECONDS.I had an appointment for 2pm, signed in at 155pm, at 415pm I have yet to see the doctor. I was called in and back out two times because of the unorganized staff. My patience ran out after two hours, especially after seeing others with later appointments finishing before I even saw doctor. I STRONGLY DO NOT recommend this place. There are tons of negative reviews for a reason! Not only did I complain two times, after my complaint I was told to go back to wait in the waiting room. WORST of all is assistant to doctor did not complete my sonogram and asked me to leave after only 2 minutes of being examined! The staff treats their patients horribly. I am not surprised that their ratings are this low. Waited..waited...and waited and then they tell me that they can't let me in because they need an updated insurance card although the plan number is still the same. They just want the newer piece of plastic, which my insurance company is yet to send. Contacted my insurance company and the insurance company's representative spoke to them so that they could give me the appointment after providing them with the needed information and they still refused to let me in. Doctor Olanescu for over 1 year she's my doctor I had a D&C with her bc I was not able to get pregnant for over 1 year I be trying to . Bean at to many doctors before and no one found me what was wrong with me . And she did after careful investigation further more what can possible be wrong to me that I cannot get pregnant they found and I'm also saying about the ultrasound lady Alina I think her name and Liana they found out that I have a fibroid stuck in my tubes plus I have a mass all around my uterus so thanks god to this doctor and Liana and Alina god help them that they finally did the surgery on me and help me in my road to have a baby and have a health baby's . For this I'm always going to be thankful to them and hopefully soon have my baby :) but hands down on doctor she is Amazing . Waited over 3 1/2 hours(I'm not kidding, I had a 12:00 appointment and left at 3:45 exactly)for what took 5 minutes to do. The staff was hardly apologetic about the wait, only pushy. You'd think it would all be for a great doc, but when I met her she was rambling about small chitchat, hardly asked me any questions. She said she'd prescribe me something then forgot to give me the prescription. Yes, sometimes a long wait means a good doctor but this is not the case, it's just plain old bad management. As far as my experience, I could have gone to Manhattan and back to a better doctor and save time in the end. You can bet that's what I'll do next time! Just like the other reviews I had the same experience. Horrible experience with the Dr. I made the mistake of going there to bc I had trouble getting pregnent. I waited 2.5 hours to get drawn blood by some assistant. Then I got a pap by the Dr for like 30 seconds. I blinked and she was gone. Then I had to make an appointment to get the results. So it was made for like 6 weeks later. So fast foward .. i got back for my results and agian the massive amount of waiting. I did not even see the Doctor. I some some nice lady, who looked at my results and said everything seams okay. Then she did an ultra sound on me. This was her assistant. NOt even the Docter. I was told that in for me to get pregnent I have to lose like 75 pounds. I was like what. Well guess what I found another Dr who is great and completely opposite experience. No wait time... my results are online to print. I see the Dr for like 20 minutes each time. Returns my phone calls. The best part is that I am pregnent bc of this new Dr. Do not waste your time with this office or Dr. OLENESCU.. I once counted 38 chairs in the waiting room. My first appt I sat for 2 1/2 hours and had to walk out bc I had another appt that day that I would have been late for. They called my name as I was walking to the desk, I told them I could stay if I could be out in a half hour, the response I got was that there was no way that'd be possible bc the doctor left for an emergency, I'm assuming it was a delivery. The waiting room had at least 10 ppl sitting there and they didn't bother to inform us that the doctor wasn't even there. Who knows how long i would have been waiting if i didn't have to leave. I rescheduled my appt, and after they made me fill out all of the papers that I already had the first time, the receptionist noticed that I wrote that I was there for a check up and annual pap after an abortion I had. Again, after waiting a while they told me the doctor won't see me bc she hadn't performed the procedure. I said I'm here to get checked that everything is ok, they said she won't see you bc she wouldn't want to be held responsible if something wasn't. To me, that does not make sense. I did not go back there, they wasted my time twice. It was so unprofessional, and the doctor clearly doesn't care about your time or your health, I never even got to meet her. read more

I have never in my life met such a careless greedy money hungry doctor. First off she books every 2 minutes i have seen her appointment book and people were book every 2 minutes, figures why i have only seen her once. She has nurses doing surgery, i had surgery booked wit her and knowing how she is i asked her the one time i saw her if she is going to do the surgery and she said yes that was a complete lie, she can get her lisencse taken away for that. I wait over 2 hours every time I go there, the receptionists are unhelpful and even rude over the phone, they have the absolute worst "hold" music I've ever heard (and you WILL listen to it for at least 15 minutes while trying to book an appointment), they left me in a cold room with my feet in stirrups and no pants for close to half an hour. Awful experience, then they submitted my claim info to the wrong insurance company and sent me a bill almost a year later. Never go there if you value your time, dignity, and money. read more

The worst doctor's visit I ever had. I waited for over an hour just to get inside a room. Once in the room, I was told to undress and waited for 20 minutes for the doctor to finally arrive. She barely spent three minutes with me. I had a few questions and was not even afforded the opportunity to do so since the doctor practically ran out the door. The workers are rude, when you call for any questions or to set an appointment the workers are always dry . They also show no type of intrest in your health . Although the doctor is okey but the service is horrible the staff has to be changed in order to improve. The service is bad. I went to an appointment that I made a few days ago. They only accept cash for the co-pay, why?, and after waiting for an hour, they told me that my insurance is not accepted at their office. These days doctors don't care for patients, just the money. I saw a sign that said If you don't cancel the appointment with time you will be charged a $25 fee. This is an abuse, what happen with my time? They don't do anything for that, so I think this doctor is not good. They just care about the money, not the patient. read more

Completely agree with Summer. First off, the office is in a Condo residence. Secondly the waiting room is tiny and over crowded. That atmosphere is that of a FREE CLINIC. I went to visit her 3/24 waited for over an hour, then was asked to pay upfront, only to have the office manager tell me she just left to go deliver a baby. Completely understandable. However, I got an appt the very next day and said I would have "No Wait." I showed up and waited for 45 mins, then another 15 mins in the room. She examined me for 3 mins, rushed through the entire appointment and sent her assistant (not a nurse) to do a sonogram. The assistant came in with a prescription and I asked, "What is it?" Her response, "I don't know, the doctor just gave it to me." Most doctors discuss treatment options as I was later told I was prescribed antibiotics. The doctor was so great, she decided to choose what my pharmacist said, "The most expensive antibiotic on the market with NO generic available." One would wonder how much she's getting kicked back for prescribing this. She also gave me an odd dosage and prescribed it for 30 days. Even the pharmacist said it was strange. I called her, only to have her staff tell me, "No 30 days is correct." after waiting on hold for 10 mins. I was told I would not get my results of anything, unless I came back after two weeks. I'm canceling my appointment and going to see a real doctor. I'm really surprised she hasn't been sued for malpractice. DO NOT GO TO HER. You'd be better off going to a free clinic in the Bronx then to visit this ghetto ass place with a doctor that has a complete disregard for you or your well being. read more

wow... where do I even begin. I never write reviews for anything, however, for this gyno I almost felt obligated.. Let me start that she is very nice warm lady. I have been going to this gyno for about a year now, why??? Im not sure, looking for a new doctor can be quite annoying. the normal wait time at this clinic is literally more than two hours. they OVERPACK and OVER SCHEDULE appointments. Once waiting 2+ hours, today waited THREE HOURS, I go inside the dr comes in I kid you not LESS THAN 1 MINUTE. tells me what the problem is and rushes out of the room without saying ANYTHING or asking me if i have ANY CONCERNS or WORRIES. next ten minutes the nurse comes in or secretary whatever she was to give me the prescription. Stunned. WAITING THREE HOURS AND CANNOT EVEN TALK TO THE DR FOR MORE THAN 1 MINUTE. i kid you not. I tell the nurse I have questions, concerns and want to speak to the dr. She comes in twice again after that hesitant to give me other alternatives than the DR to come inside. Never again will I EVER return back here. this is not the first time but it was every time I went. I've never given a negative rating before. But This can be the worse experience I've ever had with a GYN.I saw her last year. The doctor herself is a very sweet person, but the way the office is run is a turn off. I waited more than 2 hours close to 3 hours in the waiting room. Finally they called me to wait in the little examining room. I waited more than a half hour with freezing A.C. giving me a bronchial atack. I had to run out to the hallway to ask why is the wait so long I'm getting sick. Some lady told me the doctor had an emergency and would be back soon. I told her someone should have alerted me and asked if I wanted another apointment. Don't make me wait forever getting sick with the A.C. blasting. About another 10 minutes passed this lady gave me a sonogram I told her I'm not pregnant, she said it was procedure for everyone. Then the Doctor herself came in spoke with me briefly about the reason she made me wait, her elderly mom didn't want to go to hospital, she had to check her in herself. Fine. She told me to get dressed and ran out. I got dressed and ran out to hallway to tell her she didn't give me pap smear. She ran back in and gave me a quick one and left again. She didn't press down or feel around inside and say how does this feel is there pain here and such like a normal GYN appointment does.I was turned off. I returned to her 2 weeks after for the results and waited less than 2 hours. Thank God. Now I have to go back to get results from her ofice sent to another GYN doctor so I can get a procedure done from another place. I'm not going back to that office unless she was the last doctor on earth. She's a sweet lady personaly, but she might have too much on her hands to be able to run the business thoroughly enough to have most of her patients come back. I'm curious what percentage of her patients return to her.Maybe if she had an independant surveyor come in and give them a little professional advice, she would do great.I had a better experience with the board of health public clinics. I have been scheduled for ultrasound with tech. at 10 am which she wasn't even there after 30 min of waiting I asked when am I going to bee seen receptionist told me she didn't come in yet. I asked why they scheduled me at the time when tech is not there recept. said she was running late. Finally after 10 min someone came out took me in and put me in the room to wait again. I was so upset and was about to leave the office suddenly tech saw me walking out of the room aproached me with her full mouth of food and said go back I will be right with you. She comes in and tells me she wont do ultrasound on me. I told her that I was moving out of state and that I wont have ins right away and since I am 2 months pregnant I needed to know that everything is ok but she said she was the one to make that kind of decision. That tech spend not even 5 min with me. She comes late and eats her breakfast and made me wait for almost an hour just for her to tell me that my test results are ok. This is very unprofessional. I didn't see the dr they said I didnt need to. What kind of office is this! This wasn't the first time I waited first time was even worse. They schedule 4-5 people an hour and I waited over an hr. I did call my insurance and complained and told them to reject my claim from them. Do not go to this office!!! read more
