I was initially reluctant to use a wedding/event planner for several reasons - wanting to save money, being fairly crafty/creative myself and having confidence in handling on my own details in pursuing something less "traditional", and being pretty resourceful. Shortly into the planning process, I realized it was going to be harder than I thought. I then met Mandi Buckland of Element Design. What sealed the deal was her calm energy and diversity in events she's worked on (weddings, parties, festivals, including "green" fests/events). She was great in identifying several unique wedding location options in Southwest and Southern MI, including a fabulous barn, a garden, and a super cool lodge (we ended up at a mansion in Holland). When I asked her to design the invitations with a "modern art nouveau theme" using a peacock to match the theme of a mansion built in the early 1900s (not easy!) - she provided several fabulous sample designs within a short period of time. Our final invitations were really unique and fun! After our invites went out, I received an unexpected amount of of great feedback ("I love your invitations!" "They are so unique," etc.) and I could tell they made people look forward to the wedding. I felt like Mandi figured out my sense of my style quickly, and she was able to identify options that fit that were creative, cost-conscious (extra plus) and didn't compromise on quality. At the same time she was working with me, she was helping a friend design invitations for a wedding at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, so her range of work can be simple, arty/less traditional, to more traditional/upscale. Pretty impressive! Mandi is professional, efficient, super creative, and I would recommend her to anyone in Chicago, Detroit (or anywhere in between the two cities in Michigan or Illinois) who is planning a wedding in Southwest or Southern Michigan!

Being that I am so excited about my wedding, I visited Petit Fleur before officially placing a deposit on my venue. Word to the wise, do not make floral appointments, ANY APPOINTMENTS for that matter, until you have secured your wedding venue! During my first appointment Corrina literally took out 15 table cloths, chargers, topiaries, forks, knives, goblets, YOU NAME IT and set it on a table in the showroom just so I could get a vision of what my table could look like at my reception! No other florist or event planner has gone to those lengths on the first appointment to give me a real vision of what I could be potentially expecting. I was literally blown away! Now that I have FINALLY secured my venue and have my wedding date set in stone, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will be using Petit Fleur to decorate my ceremony/reception venue! P.S I was very shocked to read some of the negative reviews about the owner! She is a gem! I probably have an email thread of 17 messages going back and forth with her (and I have only been planning for 2 months)! I wanted to change my tablecloth- not a problem, I wanted to change the chargers- not a problem, I wanted to subtract the gold silverware that I was so adamant on including in the quote, lol,- not a problem! A preface: of all the vendors from our wedding, this is our only negative review -- every other…read morevendor was wonderful. We hired Petit Fleur Events for our July 4, 2026 wedding. We're posting this so other couples know exactly what our experience was. Every statement below is documented in our signed contract, the vendor's own emails, or witnessed by our wedding party. Start with the contract itself. We paid a non-refundable $2,500 retainer based on an itinerary of services; when my now-wife asked -- twice, in writing -- what the actual contract was, the full terms were not provided until June 3, with the remaining balance demanded "by tomorrow," one month before our wedding. By then, realistically, there was no changing vendors. Those terms included a non-disparagement clause purporting to restrict clients from posting negative reviews. Had we seen that clause before money changed hands, it alone would have turned us away. (We're aware of the clause; everything here is factual, and we raised every concern directly and professionally with the vendor in writing first -- as it requires.) We signed a $5,332 agreement and paid $5,276 of it by June 5 -- in full under her payment schedule. At the design mockup -- held 18 days before the wedding, outside the 60-to-30-day window in her own contract, after she rescheduled it from the earlier date we requested -- my wife declined every single offered upgrade that came with a price. When dahlias were quoted at a $500 increase: no. Each time a cost was named: no. The pattern could not have been clearer -- we were staying inside our contracted budget. Then on July 1, three days before the wedding, we received a rewritten "itinerary of services" raising the subtotal from $5,276 to $6,733 -- roughly 26% -- built almost entirely from changes that had never been disclosed as carrying any price. There was no change order and no markup against the signed version: the contract's $1,051 courtesy discount was removed while other fees were waived in roughly offsetting amounts, and line items were silently added, deleted, and repriced throughout -- a wholesale rewrite in which nothing could be tracked against what we had signed. We had to reconstruct it line-by-line ourselves to find out what had changed. When we pushed back with the signed documents, the vendor claimed in writing that a line item "was added" in later revisions and that those arrangements "simply do not exist." That line appears verbatim in the itinerary she signed. After we quoted it back, she confirmed the arrangements would be provided after all. She also refused to provide the cake florals -- despite the signed itinerary containing a "Cake Floral + Table Décor" section she herself had priced at $50 -- and declined our written offers, made three separate times, to pay for requested additions through a standard change order. We were informed she would be on vacation from before our wedding through July 8. On the day itself, the boutonnieres fell apart during the event -- multiple members of our wedding party witnessed and can attest to this -- and in our opinion the arrangements delivered fell well short of the mockup we approved. Since our final email, we have received no further responses. Our advice to any couple considering this vendor: demand the full contract before paying anything, get every change in a signed written change order, keep every email, and compare every revised document line-by-line against what you signed. Rob, one of the owners of EEG, called me without hesitation or reservation. He didn't make me feel like an idiot for calling 2 days before my wedding. He just assessed what I wanted, made sure they had the lighting to do so, gave me a quote and set it all up the day of the wedding. I received TONS of compliments with how beautiful the room looked and the amazing lighting and decor. My wedding theme was more romantic, with lots of votive candles, but the one thing I wanted more than anything (as far as wedding decor) were bistro lighting over the dance floor to look like my husband and I were dancing underneath the stars. He was also able to add the sheer cloth with stringed lights for our the back of our headtable... which really made a difference in the room! First of all, not that many lighting vendors even can do that. Second, EEG was the only vendor who attended to me with such short notice. When I talked to Rob and asked how he was able to do it, he simply told me EEG loves to do weddings and was excited for this challenge. They truly made my dream wedding come true. Rob is amazing to work with! He and the rest of the EEG staff are so amazing and very diligent workers. He told me he had 6 other weddings to set-up and tear down, but it did not interfere with the amazing work they put up for us. Hands down, one of the best vendors I've worked with!! And I truly recommend the Encore Event Group for all your lighting, decor and sound needs!!

Their studio is very nice and so conveniently located with plenty of gated parking. We were very comfortable working with them. The only downside is that they were a little slow to respond at times, and needed reminding about some particulars that we discussed, but they also stepped in at the end when we needed some very last-minute changes and handled that for us quickly. I would definitely recommend them and will work with them again for sure.

The salads were simply dressed with no option but with what I guess could be called vinaigrette if I were being generous. The rolls were very grainy and not my thing. My salmon would have been terrific if it had been fresh. It was a huge portion but cold and the sauce had congealed. I liked the roasted potatoes and the veggies but again, cold. My husbands sliced steak concoction was at least warm and it was super tender. It was also well beyond a generous portion. He disliked the sauce though. The bar staff did well. We avoided the pitchers of flat beer and bad merlot, which helped. The mixed drinks were stellar. My Tito's and soda with a wee splash of cran and a lime were perfect. My husbands tequila and pineapple was also delish. Dessert was as good as the alcohol. Fantastic apple spice cake with cream cheese and caramel and a creamy chocolate pie. Yum. Our wedding was at a our…read morefriend's farm which meant we had to bring in vendors to cover everything--tables and chairs, DJs, caterers, bars, etc etc. Being that I plan events for a living I didn't really need anyone to coordinate all that for me, I'm used to managing a few different vendors, juggling contacts, etc. However, that was the last thing I wanted to do on my actual wedding day, so I decided to hire a day of coordinator who could be our point person through it all. Tammara made the whole process so smooth. I provided all my vendor contacts and she checked in with them the week of to make sure everything was set. She sent me worksheets which made the timeline and the ceremony structure easy to plan. I went into the day feeling stressed (of course! I stress about everything!) but also confident in knowing the day was going to go great! The day of Tammara and Stephanie (one of her coordinators) were excellent. We had a bit of rain and they came up with contingency plans for the ceremony should we need them. Luckily the rain stayed at a drizzle so we moved forward with the outdoor proceedings but I was grateful for their back up all the same. They made sure all the chairs from the ceremony were moved into the reception barn, they even moved decorations from outside into the reception area to help dress it up during the dinner and dancing (a touch I didn't even consider but appreciated as they looked fantastic in the photos). They helped make sure the catering, bar and all the other odds and ends else went smoothly. They even cleaned up post wedding and loaded all the gifts and some decor pieces in my car. The next day when my husband and I went back to the space to finish clean up we were delighted to find that we didn't have to do a darn thing other than load up the rest of the boxes (that they had filled with the rest of the wedding decor and misc. wedding items in the car) and the linens (that they had placed in the rental bags for us) and everything was done. After all the set up, the stress leading up to it and of course all the fun from the day of I was absolutely exhausted the day after and was so grateful for the easy clean up that I cried tears of relief on my drive back home. Also, and most importantly for many, her prices are incredibly reasonable. Especially given the time she spends with each client and how well she does her job. There are several packages that work in levels of affordability and come with different hours she and her team commits to your event. Something for everyone and your needs. I would hire her again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend that you do too, should you be in the market for an event coordinator. I knew I was going to need some help when I booked my venue where I did (worst ever), I didn't realize it was going to be so easy to have another 'me' there setting everything up. I didn't cry the day before or the day of the wedding. I think I was more in shock than anything, but as soon as I walked into the reception area and saw what had been put together in such a small period of time, I was filled with emotion. After only a bit of email communication on how I would like everything set up, I walked into my own head. Everything was laid out even more perfect than I could imagine and everything was ready to go. I was incredibly satisfied with the work she did and couldn't of asked for a better DOC.
