My friend and I were wanting to try this place out for a while, and finally got a chance to get takeout from them. I ordered the fried chicken combo platter with a side of mac & cheese, cole slaw, and a dinner roll. The chicken thighs were juicy and tender on inside, while the batter was very good. It tasted like it was beer battered, and it was not too greasy. Unfortunately, the meat itself didn't have much flavor. The mac & cheese was solid - pasta was a dente, bread crumbs on the top gave a nice texture contrast, and the cheese sauce tasted good. The cole slaw was good, too - it was a pretty light addition to the meal, and the dried cranberries provided a touch of sweetness/tartness to it. The roll was a standard cold dinner roll, nothing to write home about. My friend ordered a Reuben sandwich, which was pretty greasy and messy. He said the corned beef was just okay - nothing extraordinary. I'd be open to coming back and trying other items sometime, but if I'm being completely honest, it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Great food in the suburban Detroit metro area. I yelped it up by searching for vegetarian because on biz trip w Indian boss. It's been around a little over a year. Very friendly and attentive staff. Nice selection with local sourcing when possible. The place is new and fresh looking- clean and bright but with a still woodsy-country vibe. Bottoms line; liked it a lot! My boss liked his Black Bean veggie burger. I really like my fish and chips. The chips part could have been slightly better for me because I don't like string cut fries. They have a thicker hand cut fry that you can order a la cart. I'd do that next time. Everything tasted great, came out fast, and was served with a smile. We ordered lobster rolls for their seafood weekend special and they were delicious. Full of huge chunks of lobster meat and the roll was perfect. We also ordered the fried scallops and they were very tasty. Since everything was carryout, the scallops didn't travel as well as the rolls, but I would not say that it was the fault of the establishment, just something that's best eaten immediately. The one fault is their online ordering system for carryout orders was difficult to use and I wasn't sure if an order was placed or not so I called to confirm instead. I really want to like this place but it is kind of quirky. $15 for a normal size burger and fries?? I can see paying that in a higher rent area, but not in the Kroger parking lot. Food quality was good, but nothing here really stood out as being a signature item that is better than anywhere else in the area. I give it 4 stars for food quality and 2 stars for value. I hope they do a better job getting the pulse of the local demographic and also develop some standout signature items. I think they would do much better if they take this advice. read more

Wow! We tried these folks today and had the fish and chips.EXCELLENT! They delivered (with mask and gloves during this quarantine), wore gloves and a mask and placed on our porch. They also have pick-up but we opted for delivery (it was a little more because we are just out of their delivery area, but we were glad to pay the extra not to have to leave the house). I'm sorry I didn't try them sooner and I'm sorry that I didn't get the dessert! They have a nice and varied menu. Give them a try. We'll be ordering again for sure. read more

I just used The Ideal Bite to cater our work summer picnic yesterday, and couldn't wait to get on here to tell everyone how awesome they are! We did the Backyard BBQ option with burgers and chicken and four different salads. Everything was great - but the caprese and fruit salad got the most rave reviews. All of my coworkers kept pulling me aside to ask me where I ordered the food from and to tell me how fantastic it was. In fact, they were still talking about it today. Matt was very flexible with me when I had to update the quantity a few times. He and his associate were very helpful and did a great job. I've been wanting to try this place for a bit and finally did today. It was really good. I had the Sausage BLT Baguette. It was tasty. My only criticism is in regards to how the sausage was sliced. It was sliced lengthwise, which made it hard to eat. If it were cut width wise, the tiny pieces would make eating it easier. Now let's talk about the rosemary feta fries, shall we? Yes we freaking shall. Holy moly bejesus lawdy are these yummy. Just shut your face, order them, and eat them. I couldn't resist getting something I saw in the dessert case. Fantastic! This place has become our personal FAVORITE food spot in the entire metro area during this COVID pandemic. Our favorite meal is: the Pork Belly Sliders (phenomenal - seriously one of the best dishes you can get anywhere), the Red Eye Burger (super tasty and delicious) and the Fish & Chips (they are outstanding) with a side of Rosemary Feta Fries & a slice of Key Lime Pie (WOW)! What a hidden joint! Their is so many delicious food items(even for somewhat pick t eaters) and they are all so fresh and yummy. Came into town/Michigan on a last second Thanksgiving trip -- had nothing to eat as were taking care of a family member in the hospital. Woke up Thanksgiving day with nothing to eat due to everything being closed/covid, etc. Called Amy (owner) from a website post that said orders needed to be in the day before Thanksgiving.....she didn't pick up....but called me back and said she would to the restaurant to see what she had left. Long story short her and her husband whipped up a feast for us on Thanksgiving Day. Her placed was closed and she did that for us. I work at Beaumont (Botsford) and we order through DoorDash a lot more than we should.. that being said.. this place is the best. I love their Brie and apple sandwich.. soups are great and the fruit side is fantastic..(see pic) My coworkers have always been happy with their orders too. My husband and I used The Ideal Bite to cater our outdoor wedding for 200 people in May '11. We weren't sure what we wanted to do, so we asked Amy Jean to put together some ideas based on the venue and the kinds of people we had coming (we had quite a few people coming in from various places around the country as well as a fairly large Polish contingent in the family. And we didn't want the usual Chicken & Steak combo). When we met, she came with 3 pages of thought starters/ideas! We went with a Stations of Detroit theme that included a "Mexican Town" station, "Corktown" BBQ station and "Hamtramck" Polish station. Then at 10:30p we brought in Coney Dogs and chili fries. It was a HUGE hit, everything tasted amazing (I actually took time to pig out at my own wedding), and people still tell me it was the best food they've had at a wedding! From a dessert standpoint, I splurged and went with the fresh fruit skewers drizzled with chocolate. RIDICULOUS. I was going to cut that off our menu to save money, but after tasting them, caved. I'm glad I did because they flew off the dessert tables, the guests loved them. For table ware, I wanted to use something that looked nice, didn't feel flimsy but was responsible -- ie, not plastic. So they suggested bamboo plates & utensils. It looked very cool and added another point of differentiation to our reception. They also found biodegradable cups for the beer and wine, but I can't remember what they were. OH, and lastly -- it rained on us. And I mean RAINED. We had a tent over the dining area thankfully and the caterers were covered, but they all had to go out in the rain to get between the two areas. That being the case however, not once did anyone of the staff complain about getting wet and they took special care to make sure that when food was put on the tables it didn't look like it just came through a storm. Everything was handled flawlessly, I sincerely didn't have one moment of stress. Her staff was professional, worked their butts off to keep everything looking fresh and beautiful and at the end of the night they cleaned up and you'd never known they were there. I know that's what you'd expect...however, that doesn't mean it's what you'd get. I would 100% recommend this team. read more

This place is perfect! My boyfriend and I stopped in there a couple weeks ago for lunch. It was not busy at all, which made me a bit nervous, but was still willing to give it a try and I am so happy we did! The best way to describe this place is an upscale deli. They have a menu with all of the different sandwiches and salads and other offerings they have. You go to the counter, order and they bring the food to your table. The service was very fast and friendly. The guy behind the counter was telling us how there is also a catering business that is ran out of there and they offer "meals to go" in the refrigerator. This is such a great idea. It perfect to pick up another lunch for the week or a dinner for home. The food was very tasty. I had a panini with three different cheeses, avocado, and tomatoes. My first visit to The Ideal Bite Community Kitchen and I was very impressed. The chicken soup was thick and satisfying with rice noodles instead of the regular thin ones usually found in chicken noodle soup, and big chunks of tasty chicken. I had the Roasted Corn and Avocado Garden Salad which was tasty and very fresh. My friend and I shared a side of the Hand-cut French Fries and there were enough for two more people! They brewed a fresh pot of decaf especially for me and the staff were all warm and welcoming. Highly recommend it - very important to support our local businesses and especially to support places that are using utensils made from corn that won't sit in the landfill for ever. AThe initial atmosphere was good and the staff was accommodating. Unfortunately they were extremely short staffed. Because of this most of our table off 7 had food that was late and cold. Lemon ricotta pancakes were burnt. They ran out of shrimp and grits. And although the waitstaff was apologetic, they never truly said I'm sorry and did not offer to refund or comp anything. I did substitute the absent grits with assorted pastries because I was not hungry by the time the new grits would be ready. Maybe it's growing pains. Conveniently located near me at the corner of 11 Mile Rd. & Middlebelt, I eat here a lot! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is fast and friendly. The Pulled Pork is to die for! All of their soups are so good, but I especially love the Guinness Black Bean Chili. The Roasted Vegetables with Cous Cous is yummy. My favorite dessert is the Rice Pudding. I especially like the convenience of the Take & Bake selections available in the refrigerated cases for those days when I don't feel like cooking. They have Vegan and Gluten-Free options. I was there recently. They have several kinds of soups (a Gumbo, a corn chowder, and sometimes a tomato basil) and several kinds of sandwiches. I came for lunch. They can get Busy, so sometimes calling ahead for takeout might be a Better option. They have various side dishes and salads, as mentioned by others, and mixed fruit or pastries for Dessert. To my knowledge, they don't have a separate Dinner menu. I will try out their Sunday Brunch when they start it. It's Great that a restaurant is finally operating in that space again. It was a Diner, an Italian place, and a Big Boy in years past. You can't even get Peasant Food from the Quizmo's anymore because they went under. read more

I just had lunch with coworkers and it was SO delicious. I feel like I'm going to burst now. I had the BBQ pulled pork panini and a side of the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was by far the best I've ever had. I could not eat it all, but they have these great biodegradable containers for carry out / leftovers. We were invited to attend the practice opening of the restaurant. I had the pork belly sliders and my husband had the parmesan chicken sliders, both were amazing! We contacted Amy to cater for a small intimate wedding reception to be held at our house. We did not want the intrusion of service of staff but were keen on the convenience of a restaurant quality cocktail party. After a couple of emails and phone conversations with the very amicable Amy we settled on one of their cocktail menus with a few adjustments to suit the buffet style spread we were after. The food was wonderful, plentiful and presented fantastically. We had quite a few fussy eaters to cater for but as seasoned diners we wanted food with some flair. What arrived was well prepared, high quality ingredients presented on big platters that had something to wow everyone. I got a Cary-out here. When I called the girl didn't know how long it was going to take. I got there before it was done. I knew it wouldn't be. I thought, hey at least it will be nice and warm. Everything was cold. (I love .4 miles away and I drove). I didn't think that the Parmesan Garlic Chicken sliders was worth the price. TI thought it was worth $5.50. However, they were good. We used Ideal Bite for a graduation party this year. I frequent graduation parties, coming from a large family and have many kids myself. I wanted something different. Something that people would be pumped to eat! We chose a 'Mardi Gras' theme as my son was to attend LSU.
