She assured me she would handle all of my refill prescriptions and I could call the office any time if I wasn't proficient on the portal. She was anxious to get to the next patient and didn't speak much. Her office staff seems overworked and hardly professional. They did not give her a message the first two times I called. My daughter helped me go on the portal to request a refill for my monthly medicine. It was sent to the pharmacy incorrectly and after 5 subsequent phone calls, 7 days later I had to call another doctor to send the correct medicine request to the mail order pharmacy. That office cost me additional money to fill the medicine and proved to have the most irresponsible office staff I have ever experienced. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Serio and am having all of my medical records transferred to a new Internist as soon as I see one next week. In my opinion, a doctor is only as responsible and committed to their profession as their selection of office staff and PA's. I would not trust my well being to her practice.

It honestly a business priority office. Leave your well being at the door. The office staff were not helpful and did not really care for the patients and were not friendly the slightest. I came in for a yearly exam and spent 90% of the time with the nurse who was very sweet and friendly. But the doctor max 15 mins where she mostly asked more about my social/ personal life than my actual health. Than she left and didn't leave much of an impression about actually making a connection. I understand your busy and have other responsibilities but if I see you once a yr can you try to act like you care. Than it was back to the sweet nurse who did all the other tasks. That didn't bother me as much until I had to get paperwork done for work a couple months later. I am upto date with all my vaccines and already had my yearly exam. And she would not fill out a simple form because she needed to me in person and her rude MA tried to me with an attitude that its office policy and no other reason. Mind you my other office would just charge a fee or give me a more solid reason to have me visit. Not use a form as leverage to get me in the door. That in my opinion is cruel and unreasonable. I have never written a review prior but this treatment left me to go somewhere else for my healthcare. If you can go somewhere else where they treat you less like a sheep and more like a person go there.

I got the results back and I'm not a dr so when things come back looking not normal, it worries me. I had to call the office to follow up and left a message but didn't hear back for weeks. weeks! And then when I finally do get a call back, it's not even from the dr and they just said everything looks fine. yeah, that's not a dr I want to be seeing. I'm used to going to doctors who seem to have fallen into a daily grind of "processing" their patients through their machine of an office. But Dr. Ottavio really seems to enjoy what he's doing, and it definitely comes through in the quality of treatment. His assistant, Tina is also very friendly and has an amazing bedside manner as well. I never feel rushed which I appreciate. He takes time to listen to you and does his best to provide the best treatment possible. He's also not one of those doctors who books 5 people for the same time slot, leaving you waiting forever. I've never had to wait long at all to be seen. I used to drive an hour to the Pt. Jeff office, but am very happy that he now has a location in Happaugue as well which is much closer. I would highly recommend anyone who is in need of a pulmonologist or sleep doctor to look him up. You'll be glad you did.
