I had the pleasure of meeting the awesome staff at Kaizen MMA/Enshin Karate a few weeks ago when I…read morepicked up my nieces from their Day Camp Program. My sister had searched high and low for a reputable place to put the kiddies in and happened upon the Karate Day Camp. With all the foolishness in the world, this Auntie is happy to know that her nieces are protected and cared for by "Handsome" MMA trained professionals that could snap an assailants wind pipe with one quick karate chop. (Yep that's how I feel .. smile) The girls get the required exercise time and calorie burn that most American children refuse to get with that unhealthy connection to tablets and video games that prevent them from riding bikes and visiting playgrounds. I watched through a glass window as children completed sessions of bear crawls, mountain climbers, side rolls and various other exercises that would make the average child cry (small laugh). They listened to their Sensei and showed him respect during his instructions... another attribute lacking in our youth today. My nieces seemed happy as they engaged with other staff and older school aged teenagers hired during the summer for additional help. This establishment reinforces discipline and the instructors convey any and all concerns to the twin about the girls. A perfect co-parenting relationship. The nieces informed me that they also attend fun-filled field trips and also have many trips to the pool. The Dojo Mommy helps the little ones change so no parent need fret about the thought of their little girls interacting with male staff in the bathrooms. Also of note, the facility is super clean, offers an activity area upstairs and rents their space for Birthday parties. My sister invited me to her Boot Camp session and after one hour of circuit training I was sweating up a storm. Instructor Mike had these legs, arms and thighs on fire. I was glad to know that while the girls received their workouts, classes here, were created to keep parents and aunties Just as Fit. We know that all great things must come to an end and I hate that my sister will have to leave this amazing place when she moves with her military husband next year. Next year my nieces will be more fit, more confident and prepared for self defense. You can tell the instructors love what they do, love the children and know that the children love them. On my last day of vacation we picked up the girls and I watched some MMA students completing warm ups with their instructor and created some new fitness goals for myself. Kaizen MMA has what you're looking for and more, highly recommended! Da Islandgal29412

I used to love this location (Fairfax) of Kaize . However, recent changes have made me decide to…read morepull my kids out and go to a different location. My kids are in the youngest age group (under 7). They used to be taught by adult Sempais, and I could see them gaining skills, self control, respect, etc. But this location recently changed to allowing older kids to serve as Sempais and run the class. These kids don't have any experience with teaching children - they're still children themselves. The focus of classes has shifted from learning skills to just "conditioning" - running, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. And these child instructors just don't have the self-control to serve as instructors. At the end of most classes, the Sensei/Sempai ends with a fun game to conclude on a fun note. But recently, the child Sempai leading a dodgeball-type game got carried away and way too competitive and was throwing the ball full force into little kids' faces. I saw a 4 yr old get slammed in the face (by the Sempai) so hard she fell down. And the Sempai appeared to like it and continued to throw full full force at other 4, 5, and 6 year olds. That was the breaking point for me. The other Kaizen locations are good, and we'll stick to those ones.

I am thankful that I found the Yamasaki Springfield location. I tried out several different schools in the area and finally settled on Yamasaki because it felt like the perfect fit between the kids and adults programs. My kids train both judo and jiu jitsu at the school and both programs are great. Coach Mo is a great judo coach and they have a dozen or so black belts able to assist the kids classes on a regular basis. My son's take downs and standup have improved dramatically since training judo there. Professor Neto does a great job teaching both the kids classes and the adults class. The kids classes are the perfect balance of discipline and fun. Neto explains the various techniques with an extremely high level of detail and thoroughness. The adult classes have a good mix of beginners and advanced students. There are several black belts that attend class and can lead the class if Neto is away. The academy is air conditioned and comfortable in the summer months and Neto is a stickler keeping the mats clean.

Most importantly they make it fun for a 7-year old. Another big plus is the number of senseis available per student. The small ratio gives a more in-depth teaching per student which at times may be required. Overall a great place to train and grow! Looking forward to seeing my son advance! Enjoy.

an hour ago-Edit It is out of sadness and obligation as a…read moreconsumer that I write this review. Our family has been disappointed to find that Master Yoon has been dishonest with us and has scammed us of our money. The story is long, but please bear with me. We are a military family, and knowing that the Air Force was going to move our family this summer, I asked Master Yoon in November 2019 if he would refund us the early summer camp registration and graduation pass package if we had to move prior to using those services. He promised me that he would, so I signed up and paid $1,280. When time came for us to move, I asked for our refund from Master Yoon. He told me he would request it from Life Champ' headquarters. After 2 weeks, I went back to ask about it. He acted all surprised that headquarters hadn't sent me the refund and said that he would follow up with them. After another 2 weeks, I decided to call headquarters myself. I was surprised to find out that they did not handle the finances there, and that Master Yoon had separated the finance of his own franchise from the Life Champ brand months before. When I told the owner of Life Champ of this situation, he called Master Yoon. Within minutes, Master Yoon calls me to say that he would refund our money electronically but that it would take a week. I wondered why an electronic transaction would take a week, but gave him the benefit of the doubt again. After 2 weeks, we still did not see a refund. I called him again, and he said he would send us a check. He even confirmed with me over the phone that he sent the check a few days later. 3 weeks go by, I still have not received the check. I called again. He acted surprised and said he would send a second check. I asked for a picture of the check and a receipt from the post office. Instead, he sends me a photo of an addressed envelope. When I emailed him back for the picture of the check and receipt from the post office, he never replied. I waited another 2 weeks. Still, no check. Since then, I have not received a reply to my voice message nor any check or electronic refund whatsoever. I first requested the refund in July 2020. It is now September. Master Yoon has put on an act and lied to our family over and over again. Within this time, he has broken from the Life Champ franchise and has rebranded to Master Kick Martial Arts. For someone who is supposed to teach our children integrity and respect, I am sorry to say that he has neither.

After one week, my daughter LOVES this place. I like how they teach the kids respect for themselves and each other. The kids are given a uniform to wear. They do Tae Kwon Do but the week she was there she also did a Bully Busters class. The kids did field trips to the Reston Zoo and went to the pool one day. I think they also saw a movie. The counselors are polite and helpful and seem to really care for and enjoy the children they are in charge of.
