The world excessively lacks genuine compassion and empathy, but Dr. Louis Howard made my family member's foot health tolerable. He offered the most effective treatment for my family member with three (3) cortisone injections to treat foot pain from a fatal fall. My family member physically notice a difference when walking and sitting especially lying in bed at ease sustaining comfort for a good night's sleep. He also advised that placing ice is only effective to numb pain and reduce swelling, but it is not a permanent resolution for foot pain management. Dr. Louis Howard, rebuked my family member for the very delayed doctor visit which was the immediate aftermath after the fall. He takes his time explaining and advising medical treatments for the best care. Pain management is treatable with mindfulness. The Dr recommended I take an x-ray to make sure there wasn't a hairline fracture. I went to a radiology place in the neighborhood that accepted walk-ins for the x-ray and had it sent over. I called in a couple of days, and the doctor had reviewed the X-ray and found no injury. So to summarize my review, I found the doctor to be highly professional with a good bedside manner. The office itself is run relatively well. The place was clean and modern. It's definitely not luxurious if that's what you're looking for. I was also impressed that the doctor didn't try to sell me on more treatments. In fact, the price for my treatment and my exam was only $70. I found him to be kind, warm and funny, and very careful about explaining every part of the procedure clearly. The best part was that he said I'd be in a flip-flop in about 2 weeks...and he was right-no 6-week recovery!!! In fact, I was NEVER totally off my feet but you do have to rest up and elevate it as much as possible the first 3 days. I had my surgery on 5/5/11, and I wore a soft cast and and a lightweight boot until 5/18. I took Ibuprofen 800 for the pain-just a sidebar comment here: The label on IB 800 says to take it with food, but it doesn't say you can't drink with it...AMEN...that's about as religious as I get. I think "spirituality" takes many forms, and vodka IS a spirit...especially when you and your ass-hat of a boyfriend break up during your surgery recovery. But I digress. It is 5/20 today-I have a very small amount of pain, the stitches haven't come out yet so I have Frankenfoot and some swelling, but I AM already wearing flip-flops, just like Dr. Moser promised! I have junk insurance and the office did everything possible to work with me in order to get my procedure done and covered by insurance.
