Years ago I was referred to Dr. Duffee by my primary care physician. The referral was for carpal tunnel surgery. I arrived on time, actually about twenty minutes early because I don't like to be late. I waited and waited for my appointment for several hours. I am a very patient person so the wait initially was OK. I also understand that doctor's that are surgeons may get hung up at the hospital. The office staff never updated me on how long the wait may be. A few words when Dr. Duffee arrived would have gone a long way. A simple I'm sorry for being late would have been nice. Nope, nothing. The overall visit didn't go well and I didn't schedule the surgery with Dr. Duffee. The next time my primary care doctor wanted to refer me for a consultation for knee surgery with Dr. Duffee I indicated I already had an orthopedic doctor that specializes in Total Knee Replacement.. I passed on being referred because I knew Dr Duffee wasn't a fit for me. I began to realize it didn't matter what type of orthopedic surgery you needed the only doctor that my doctor used was Dr. Duffee. I knew he had done Wrist surgery on one acquaintance, lower leg surgery after a broken bone on another friend and knee surgery on yet another friend. Not all these people were totally happy with the outcome of their surgeries. I'm not sure about you but I am far more comfortable with a specialist that is not a jack of all trades and will do any orthopedic surgery. I had wonderful results with the Orthopedist that is only an arm and hand surgeon that did my carpal tunnel surgery. I also know that the doctor that did my Knee Replacement specializes just in that orthopedic surgery and had the knowledge to make my rather difficult surgery a success! Word to the wise it's OK to tell your Primary Care Doctor that you have done your homework and know the specialist that you want to do your surgery. You should be able to get a referral, if needed for your insurance, for a medical procedure without committing to the doctor named by your Primary Care Doctor. read more

I was taken back for my procedure only 10 minutes after my appointment time, which I consider excellent. Additionally the doctor successfully removed the entire cancer on the first procedure. Since this skin lesion wasn't as deep as the last, I didn't even need stitches, so I was leaving in less than two hours after arriving. The entire staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The provider was very professional, skilled, and did an excellent job managing my care. That said, whatever process is used for scheduling is terrible. I arrived 15 minutes before my appt. And was not seen until 70 minutes after my scheduled time. The reason is not the staff or the provider. It's the scheduler trying to squeeze in too many into the day. Many of the other patients I saw were elderly. They need more time than 15 minutes. Bottom line is the schedule process does not provide the medical care experience that I think AiD leadership would expect. This needs to be fixed.

He gave me a complete exam and told me what every spot was and thankfully everything was due to age and nothing serious. He reminded my how to be careful out in the sun since I spend so much time outside. I was not rushed and he spent a reasonable amount of time and answered all my questions. I scheduled a follow up appointment for next year and left with a very good feeling about my negative results. If you want to be proactive this is a very good place to schedule an appointment.

He is also aware of my numerous medicine allergies but is able to steer around them to find an appropriate treatment. In fact the most recent treatment was a cream that was not a steroid. The only problem was it wasn't covered by my insurance and was going to cost over $1,000. for one 60 gram tube. Dr Rickett and his staff filed the necessary paperwork and information to get it covered. So instead of it costing a price I absolutely could not pay it cost $134. Yes, that is still high but worth getting an effective medicine that is not a steroid. On an emergency basis I have also seen other doctors in this practice. I called on a Monday morning with a problem and was able to schedule an appointment with Dr Wise on Tuesday morning. She and her nurse were both pleasant and very capable to handle my issue. My husband also is a patient of Dr Rickett and has ongoing treatment for skin cancer. We are always able to schedule our appointments back to back so we're there at the same time. It doesn't matter what your dermatology need is I highly recommend any of the doctors in this practice! The office staff and doctors are all five star quality.
