There are multiple poop bag dispensers as well as trash cans and a very nice covered gazebo area with nice picnic tables underneath it on both sides of the dog park. They also have benches strategically placed all around the park for you to sit on as well as a very nice watering facility. You park right next to the dog park and you can easily walk around the interior of the fence line it looks very well-maintained and there are not a lot of biological landmines which is always important!! Both have an agility course you can practice with, spigots for water, large bowls/plastic kiddie pools to hold water in, and plenty of benches. There are some shade. One - often the washing machines and/or dryers are out of service and with a family of six that can be frustrating. Two - the water was shut off one evening and there wasn't communication to the tenants affected and did not end up getting resolved until almost midnight. Given it was 40 degrees, I wasn't going to take myself or my toddler and infant to the showers available within the park. Three - we had an issue with a VERY rude employee but luckily her poor behavior was addressed and is no longer an issue. This was a HUGE step up from the park we stayed in previously and I will definitely be back to bring my boys in to visit because they love everyone.

They have a section for small dogs, large dogs, and they a middle section for all the dogs to mingle. The middle section also has a water fountain for the pups, oh and for the humans too. There is also a Ramada here with tables. Every area also has its own agility course for dogs to roam around and play on. There also poop bags for ones use, but people seem to overlook them. For the usual, people don't believe in picking up after their dogs and so there's poop all over the place. Beware.. The park is open till 11pm and it's open daily!

Beer cans always in the parking lot near here. Trash everywhere. Dog owners not picking up after their canines. Sticker patches in the large dog area - huge ones that I noticed they tried to weed whack down, but the damn things are still all over the ground. I walk a 75-pound pitbull here often early mornings and constantly see other dogs not on leashes. They run immediately towards us. It's always small dogs. Makes me nervous because I never want to see this sweet girl get provoked. When you face the entrance, the small dog area is over to the left. A communal area is in the middle. Large dog area is to the right. All of them have separate fencing and gates. Don't come here in the evenings when all the youngsters are revving up their engines and trying to be cool nearby. It's a late night hangout for them. PROS + the gates are set up nicely + dog waste stations + obstacle courses + free, ample parking within walking distance + one water station in the communal area

The biggest lil' ol' park in Texas! You can tell that this…read morepark has some history, and predates a lot of other parks in the Texas State Park system. It seems to have been grandfathered in, or inherited into the system. Back in the day, the thing to do was to come to this big hill that overlooks the city, and carve your name in the limestone rocks. Now, they don't exactly have signs that prohibit this, but I think it'd be frowned upon. However, they even have a PDF pamphlet that lets you see the best of the rock carvings. This park is kinda small, compared to the other parks in the system. It's got only a handful of trails and roads that go through. There's no overnight camping. When I went, the park HQ seemed to be semi-permanently closed, and there was no one at the entry gate. There were park trucks driving through the park. I hiked the nature trail, which was easy. It had informative signs that point out various points of interest in the nature, about what the natives did with certain plants, or what this little structure is. The path takes you up to the top of the hill, which overlooks the city of Big Spring, and miles and miles beyond. There are public restrooms here at the top.

This park is a nice leg stretcher when driving across Texas as so much land is privately owned. I made it here just before sunset. I wanted to walk the road before it got too dark and the park was officially closed. There isn't much else to do recreationally along the I-20 corridor through the Permian Basin oil fields, so this little free park is a godsend for long-distance travelers. I made it to the park with 30 minutes of daylight. Two other cars also arrived and its passengers jumped out to powerwalk the road. I did the same thing, albeit at a slower pace with my two geriatric dogs, one who had to go back to the car to rest. My other dog and I made it to the overlook, admired the many burning refineries and reveled in the sulphuric acid (made worse by the fog and rain). We had to go down via the Nature Trail to get back before it was too dark. On a clear spring day I imagine this is a great place to catch the flowers and take in the views, and I'm sure this is a perfect place for a moon walk under a full moon rise. This is a small park under the Texas Park Systems, but it's very well appreciated by people like me. I can't imagine what else people living in Big Springs can do for exercise and nature visits.
