The view is spectacular, and…read moremaybe even better, the prices are ridiculous. $3-$4 for a cocktail of your choice and pretty cheap bites if you're up to munching too - you really can't beat it. It's a great environment and a good place to grab a drink after work or just because. One might think that would constitute 5 stars, but time after time I've been here, the service continues to be subpar. It is not difficult to be pleasant. Try harder. I always feel like I'm inconveniencing the gentleman bartender who works many of the nights. I'm sorry you have to do your job; mine sucks sometimes too, but I manage a smile and a polite demeanor. But seriously, go. It's worth it.

Holy moly! That view!…read more I attended the Special Olympics dinner here a year or two ago and was completely blown away by the view (especially at night...all those pretty lights!)...and yesterday (during the day) was no different (GORGEOUS!). I've heard rumors for awhile now that they a happy hour and it has been on my short list of things I want to try it. Well, yesterday I had a meeting in the bar area at 4 and decided to ring up a few friends after it was over to fully experience their happy hour. And honey, I'm so glad I did. Their house by the glass is only $4 and well liquor is $3. Tower Center, I think we're going to get along just fine (especially since my office is literally next door). But what really impressed me (besides that view), was the food! I am super picky about my cheese plates and not only was it pretty to look at, but it was yummy to eat (kinda important). And the chicken wings? Yes, please! They were so cute and tiny and delicious! I've actually never seen pretty chicken wings but somehow they managed to do it (no seriously, check out my photo). I also stole some bites of my dining partner's french fries and they were indeed just like I like 'em. And the pizza? Phenomenal! You've got to check out my food porn pics! They also rent out the venue space so take a peek around!

I'm partially biased, b/c I work for Angela these days (part time)...but- I was with Memphis Event…read moreDesign and the Peabody prior to joining the SEP team, so I worked with her as a vendor in the past (and always had a great experience). Angela is like a wedding genie. She is REALLY good at matching the right vendors with the right brides based on their budgets and their personality. I know, because she totally nailed it when I needed a photographer and florist for my New Orleans wedding in 2011 (prior to my employment there). For anyone considering a planner, especially for a wedding- look no further. SEP is a one stop shop for decor, floral, coordination, invitations, and vendor recommendations. Their rates are extremely fair and competitive. Check the reviews on Wedding Wire, the Knot and many other sources. SEP has been around for over twenty years and their experience shows in everything they do.

I am unsure why the other reviews are so bad - Angela was amazing and we loved working with her…read more We hired Angela because we live in California and were planning a wedding in Memphis. We DID NOT want to be involved in every single detail and wanted to delegate as much as possible to Angela. She helped with contracts, design, vendor selection, and with my sanity. Angela took care of every detail and was extremely organized. Angela organized things so well that we only made a single trip to Memphis during the planning process for a weekend filled with meeting DJs, musicians, tasting caterer menus, and visiting venues. Most importantly, Angela took the time to understand the vision we had for our wedding and was very creative and meticulous in executing it. She had great vendor recommendations, but didn't mind working with new vendors we had heard good things about. She worked her contacts to help us find a band composed of local church musicians, and mined flea markets for months looking for decorations - she really went above and beyond. Our wedding was as unique and beautiful as we had hoped for and we owe it all to Angela. I would recommend Southern Event Planners to anyone looking for a unique and wonderful wedding.

I attended my cousin's wedding there on June 6th. Coming into the place gave me a negative vibe…read more We, the guest, was greeted with a whole lot of rules. The owner was talking to the guest like we were students and she was the teacher. We had a DJ that a lot of us know and love. As we got ready to party for the night. The owner ran over and took the mic out of the DJ hand and told him to turn the music down, and that it was too loud. Wait, I thought we was at a reception. The food was terrible. The cake was tilted and was about to fall. They ran out of food and they didn't care to replenish it. The food was cold and mushy. We were standing in line for what ever was left and the owner told us the line was too long and she split my sisters and I up and told us to go back and have a seat. She literally was talking to us like we were kids. After we literally witnessed what she did to the DJ, the guest proceeded to leave the venue. They are very rude. They come off to people like they are just this loving couple that wants to make your day special. But they just want your money. They come off to be racist in my opinion and others that attended. I spoke to the DJ after the event and he stated he tried to talk to them and asked them what went wrong. The male owner told him to get the f?!k out of his place and never come back. This place is nothing but undercover racist. I would advise anyone who is looking to rent this venue to do your homework. Take the time to ask lots of questions and do your research. The DJ did not deserve the treatment given to him. And the guest certainly did not deserve to be treated like kids. If I could give them 0 stars l, I would have.

The worst part though - He asked for a request list of songs that he could go off of to make his set list. When asked to get a preview of his set list, his response was "you'll have to trust me". That might be what is understood in the DJ world but when it came to the dancing music he played, I would have liked more of a say because it was not what we wanted to go for. So much so that no one really wanted to dance and at 8pm when I approached him with intentions to ask about what was going on with the playlist, he was not at his DJ stand but was playing with a fake animal toy around the children instead. He responded with "are y'all ready to dance?" - um YES! The whole point of having the DJ at a wedding is to have music to dance to. He began to play all of the songs we requested in a row instead of blending them with similar songs throughout the night. Later he told my now husband that the music we provided would only take up 45 minutes... if we needed to provide the whole playlist that's something we needed to know ahead of the event instead of "trusting him" to do his job. At that point in the night, neither of us wanted to dance and chose to socialize with our guests instead of participate in his less than what's considered good performance of DJing. I would not recommend him as a wedding DJ to anyone and would almost go so far as to actively warn people about this experience.
