The tables weren't dirty, but a few of them had personal items on them, like hats and papers and coats. Coat rack near our table was also full, but there were only 4 other people in there besides us, so I was wondering where all the coats came from. We both ordered breakfast sandwiches because the dish I wanted to order they didn't have, and the waitress said they come with coffee. (I was confused on whether we were getting coffee with the meal because she felt bad they were out of stuff, or if that's just how it works). I only got water, but we were charged for the one coffee. Not a huge deal, but not what we were told. The sandwiches were decent, but not better than what you can get at any diner/greasy spoon or cafe/bakery to go order. The other patrons all knew the waitress, and as that became more obvious, we realized why they were able to help themselves to coffee. One guy was even going behind the kitchen counter for something. Usually in any other Diner that means the whole side no matter how many it brings would be $2.50 or whatever price they decide. My friend advised that the owner and chef sometimes forgets to update the online menu from the day before. We walked over to order in person, and sure enough the sandwich was available and the menu just hadn't been updated. The shop is no frills without indoor seating, but wow! the sandwich was absolutely amazing. The sandwich was bursting with flavor and it all melded together perfectly. She added just the right amount of each ingredient so that all of the flavors complemented, rather than overshadowed each other. Possibly my favorite breakfast sandwich ever! Overall, I love the sandwich and would 1000% come again on a future visit to Somerville. I am giving five stars because I believe in the business, but I also feel strongly that the experience would be improved by some administrative help.
