I stumbled into this diner on a Saturday afternoon and what you see is what you get. No frills traditional breakfast with nothing special. I ordered the waffle which was presented beautifully with whipped cream powdered sugar and lots of fruit on top. It wasn't the best waffle I've ever had but not the worst either. I appreciated the friendly servers and the old fashioned feel. I would go back and try the lunch

Nice old school diner! Think this place is busy at breakfast time, but I stopped in for take out to take to Arlington Resevoir. I tried their meatball sub and fries.. pretty good! Under $10 and very quick. The woman who took my order was extremely nice. Will definitely be back for bfast.

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. Bacon was cooked to perfection with crispiness.

I've ordered from this place a few times and haven't been disappointed until today, they forgot all the toast for my order and better yet I ordered the hash and eggs special, has a few bites and had found a bug in my food! I'm beyond disgusted of this place and when I call to speak to a manager, they're "busy". I'm never going back to this place again! Like what the fuck is that!? A baby scorpion!?

Great place! Ordered Irish eggs Benedict with corned beef hash. Order came out quick and delicious!

What a cute little spot! Was visiting family and needed a warm breakfast on a surprisingly chilly rainy April day. Chose this place over dunkin and was pleasantly surprised. The waitress for the whole place was absolutely lovely and very attentive. Loved the classic decor (black and white tile floors, marilyn monroe artwork, and intricate ceiling tiles). Coffee was delicious and the food was comforting. I ordered one of eggs benedict with mushrooms and asparagus- it was good, although I think the asparagus was canned (next time I'd stick to spinach & tomatoe.) My fiancé ordered a traditional shmorgishborg and enjoyed it all. Large portions for the right price. Their lunch specials seemed reasonable too. Street parking was a little tough in this part of Arlington but we managed. Glad we found this place and supported a local business.

Amazing people! Love the food! So much variety for breakfast and lunch. It can be loud and crowded on the weekend, but totally worth it.

Food: I did really enjoy the linguica sausage but the rest of the plate was pretty plain when considering the price point. Service: Past the friendly greeting when we came in, we felt like unvalued patrons. There wasn't a wait to get seated but the waitress still took over 5 minutes to come to our table. When they did it felt like they were trying to use as little time as possible with us. We weren't offered waters or refills on our coffee and the waitress turned her back on us as I was still talking to her asking for the check. This is far from the hospitality I was hoping for from such a long standing restaurant. What hurt the most was seeing friendly prompt service all around us for other patrons. Atmosphere: The restaurant interior was clean and suited the old diner vibe, but the exterior was seen better days. Unfortunately, it could only have been made charming by friendly staff and warm service which we did not receive.

The perfectly preserved railcar diner (even down to the original refrigerator and clock on the wall) is only one of a few dozen still operating as a diner out of the hundreds that built by the Worcester Lunch Car Co. in the 1940s and 1950s. Maria Kitidis Mackay and her father George bought the diner in January 2020 and one or both of them are usually working the griddle daily.. as they were when I recently visited. I recently stopped in for breakfast two days in a row while visiting friends in Concord and the food was excellent both times. On my first visit, I had the two-egg platter ($8) with a unique Greek loukaniko sausage (+$7). The next day, I had the same platter with traditional pork sausage links (+$3). Both platters came with home fries and toast, and everything was incredibly fresh, hot, and really tasty. My dining companion also thoroughly enjoyed her meals and the classic diner ambiance. She tried the Florentine benedict ($14), which came topped with perfectly sautéed spinach and tomato, and on the next visit went with the spinach and feta omelet ($13). Our servers stopped by a few times to ensure everything was good. The only minor disappointment we experienced was that our servers didn't offer to refill our coffee, but otherwise, it was a fantastic visit. Maybe I should have asked? It is a terrific experience all around. Highly recommend checking this place out if you want great food, unique history, and a classic diner atmosphere! Even taking away a 1/2 star for our coffee snafu, it's still a solid 4.5 stars for the overall experience -- rounded up to 5 stars. PRO TIP: Bring cash. Wilson's does not accept credit cards.

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

South Street Diner was one of the few places open that early, so I decided to give it a try. Parking was easy at that hour, and I thought it was kind of cool seeing a classic diner tucked in among all the large office buildings downtown. I was in the mood for pancakes and ended up ordering the diner special with eggs over medium, home fries, corned beef hash, bacon, and pancakes. Unfortunately, the food was mostly average to below average. The eggs were a little underdone, the home fries were slightly overcooked in spots, and the toast was pretty standard diner fare. The homemade salsa was actually a nice touch and added some flavor to the potatoes. The biggest disappointment was the corned beef hash. I was hoping for something homemade, but it reminded me of the canned version I grew up eating. The texture and flavor just weren't for me, and I ended up leaving most of it behind. The pancakes were okay but a little dense and doughy, nothing particularly memorable. On the positive side, the coffee was decent, the service was fine, and being open early is definitely a plus for travelers. Overall, I'd put this one close to 3 stars. It's convenient if you need breakfast before sunrise, but the food didn't quite live up to what I was hoping for.

There were many options to choose from but we do like to try places that are not always traditional. Hoping for a local favorite. Right on the corner, it is easy to find and with street parking easy to get to and enjoy a good meal and probably a late night gathering with friends. Rustic looking, it definitely put off the vibe of the local establishment for Arlington. We were the first customers that early afternoon. They were literally unlocking the doors when we arrived. The menu offered enough options to satisfy our dietary and personal preferences. Meats, chicken, fish and veggie options. You can find something. Staff was very friendly and attentive, but we were the only guest that early in the day. The crowd did pick up as we ate our meal. Large windows allowed you to sit and people watch on, what I would imagine is the Main Street for the town. It was Sunday so a little quiet so not a lot people watching today. Food was great and the presentation was a lot more than expected for a tavern. Full bar options and a good list of local craft beers. I love trying local beers when possible. A lot of space for seating during the day and I can only imagine the evening bar scene. Based on the number of people who did walk in while we were there to recover their credit card from the night before. Sounds weird but it totally gave off the local vibe. Love it. Very clean and tidy for a Tavern. Respectful place. Plenty of TVs to watch your favorite game so I enjoyed a chance to see one of the Sweet 16 games that day.
