The food here was okay; good crisp on the fried foods but nothing outstanding in terms of flavor. Portion sizes were on the smaller end. The restaurant is located at the back of a brewery and was a little hard to find

This is a cute diner with Japanese-Chinese fusion dishes doing both dine-in and takeout. They share a main entrance with Aeronaut brewery, with the actual entrance to the restaurant being at the back of the brewery, so we spent a few minutes finding our way there. The actual diner itself is very cute and clean, themed with classic diner red chairs and a kitchen you can see into. The standout dish for us was the Subuta, which was large chunks of sweet and sour pork that were crispy and chewy on the outside, but not too chewy on the inside. It is notable that the dine-in prices are higher than the takeout ones (and on the higher side for Chinese food in general), but it looks like the portion sizes for dine-in are larger and meant to be eaten family-style, while the takeout portions are meant for one. I would try their takeout menu sometime, which is lower priced and looks like a balanced meal with sides of edamame and white rice included.

What a wonderful addition to the great food scene of Somerville! Tucked away on the far end of Aeronaut Brewery, Mimi's is unassuming with its American diner inspired seating and small but robust menu. I unfortunately swung by on a Monday evening when they're only doing takeout but next time I will definitely bring friends to this spot! The food (and I am completely biased as I am Japanese), is exactly the level of Chinese food I have been craving. It's flavored, Mabo Tofu has a nice kick to it and the pork had a great bite to it. The potato salad (although I personally think the rayu that's on top of it is unnecessary and didn't add much) is pretty traditional Japanese style potato salad with its light and fluffy potatoes mixed with fresh veggies and of course, doused in kewpie mayo. This is definitely a new go to spot for me, I wish them all the best for success!

The garlic noodles are fire! Nice chewy noodles plus a deep garlic flavor makes it one tasty dish. Decent portion size as well.

Good food- love the location . Being inside Brewery snacking on delicious dumplings is great situation. The service was quick and efficient, they just text me a let me know the food was ready on a busy Friday night maybe 10 minutes later. Would definitely recommend!

Came here for dinner with a couple of colleagues and the food was sized well for the price. I ordered - Garlic noodles - I did not enjoy these, the earthy flavor from the mushroom was a miss for me. - meatballs: delicious would come back to order these again. Crispy on the outside and the sauce was sweet and sour. The side of cabbage was a nice fresh touch the accompanies the beef very well.

My partner and I shared the matzo ball wonton soup, mabo dofu, steamed white rice (small), and garlic noodles - TASTE: 4/5 - enjoyed the matzo balls and cilantro in the soup, tobanjiang chili sauce in the mano dofu, and the triple garlic sauce in the noodles. They were out of the Chuka burger unfortunately, would've liked to try the Wagyu brisket and chuck TEXTURE: 4/5 - fluffy and firm matzo balls, silken tofu, and chewy noodles PRICE: 4/5 - our total came to $71. Entrees can get a little expensive, ranging from $18-32 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - satisfied for lunch SERVICE: 4/5 - made a Resy an hour beforehand, arrived on time at 12:45pm on a Saturday, and there were only a few tables occupied. Our waiter was very friendly and food started coming out 10-15min after ordering ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - took us a sec to find where exactly Mimi's was inside Aeronaut Brewing Company before realizing it was the old Tasting Counter space. Appreciate the exposure to Japanese-style Chinese cuisine, i.e. chūka, short for chūka ryōri, and its unique pairing w American diner cuisine PARKING: 4/5 - limited parking in the immediate area. We got a street spot by Perry Park on Washington St

I came here after a yelp event right needle the grand opening to get some food to close out my night. I love that the location is right in the brewery so you can enjoy a drink and get a bite to eat. There's plenty of seating and it's a cute place. The food came out in a reasonable time and is pretty tasty. This is a spot worth checking out!

Mimi's serves up Asian diner fare in a small but attractive space within the broader Aeronaut brewery complex. The menu was focused but still with a good range of options from snacks and dumplings to more substantive dishes like the fried chicken and garlic noodles. All the dishes were well-executed and with bold flavors. The matzo ball soup, in particular, was a fun cross-cultural dish and the hand cut fries were the perfect balance of crisp, soft and salty - a key dish to nail when you're based in a brewery! Service was great and we were frequently checked on by our wait staff. I would definitely recommend for a fun and casual night out.

    Chicken Karaage and cucumber salad

This was my first time hearing about this restaurant. I came for a yelp event but decided to order some food to go because I was starving. I really appreciate that the chefs are very aware of allergies and what's included in the food. The menu clearly lists what allergies are included with for each meal and the servers about allergies at the time of order. The chicken karaage was good. I always appreciate gluten free fried chicken and this was worth trying. The pieces were pretty juicy and a nice size. The rice was good and fluffy. The cucumber salad was really good. I do think a sauce was needed for the chicken and rice, so I added a little sweet chili sauce at home. The serving was also relatively small for the price. I expected to be able to make 2 meals, but this was enough for only 1 sitting. I will come back because it was good and there's other items I want to try, but this spot may not be a staple for me.

We got the Szechuan cold noodle ($10.95), Szechuan style string beans with pork ($13.95), cumin lamb ($19.95), and a bowl of rice ($1.85) to share. The one who took our order warned us that the dishes would be spicy but they were honestly okay! If you can handle Shin ramen or hot Cheetos then the dishes are even milder. The cold noodles were nice and chewy and soaked in chili oil. I wouldn't have minded if they were more garlicky. The sauce had a nice balance between sweet, sour, and savory. The string beans were fresh and had a pretty mild flavor to them with just the right amount of salt. There wasn't a lot of pork in the dish. I loved the flavor of the cumin lamb although it was on the greasy side. Each piece of lamb was so tender and packed with smoky cumin flavor! This was probably the spiciest dish of all of them and it went perfectly with rice. The lunch specials seem like a very good deal especially since food prices have increased so much recently.

For appetizers, I got the vegetarian spring roll and scallion pancakes. Both were delicious, and they were not excessively greasy, a problem I often find in these items. I ordered four vegetarian main courses: Chinese Eggplant with Basil, Spicy Broccoli with garlic sauce, sauteed lotus root with black fungus, and Kung Pao tofu. The vegetables were all well seasoned and delicious, but the kung pao tofu was my favorite dish of the night. The tofu was crispy on the outside and slightly firm but moist on the inside. And the sauce complemented the rest of the dish well. Our total bill was around $100. I will absolutely visit Cilantro again, and I recommend it for take out!

I especially liked how everything tasted homemade and comforting, with a nice balance of texture and seasoning. The menu offers a wide variety of options, so it's easy to try different dishes beyond just dumplings. Everything came out quickly, and the portions were quite satisfying. The atmosphere is casual and lively, which makes it a great spot for a quick meal or a relaxed dinner with friends. Overall, a solid choice in Cambridge if you're craving authentic Chinese dumplings. I would definitely come back again.

A dinner with my Korean friends revealed my current favorite Chinese restaurant in Boston!…read more Soup Steamed Dumplings Pork 小籠包: The dumplings were large, incredibly juicy, and the meat filling was tender and smooth. The seasoning was only slightly sweet, perfectly complementing the freshness of the meat. These were the best Xiaolongbao I've had in the US, although the skin was a bit soggy and unappetizing. Pork & Leeks Dumpling: My friend ordered these, opting for pan-fried dumplings. They were piping hot, incredibly fragrant, and the meat filling was tender. The chive flavor was mild, which is perfect since I don't like chives lol. A touch of vinegar was definitely needed to cut through the richness! Sliced Fish Szechuan Style: Calling them "sliced fish" is a bit of a stretch; "fish fillets" would be more accurate. They were probably made with basa fish, and the fish was incredibly tender, almost melting in your mouth. The broth was fragrant, and the numbing and spicy flavor was authentic, earning high praise from my friend from Sichuan. Lamb with Ginger & Scallions Onion: A perfectly good Beijing dish, but it was prepared with the feel of a Cantonese stir-fry, which suited my Cantonese palate perfectly. The lamb was incredibly tender, with no gamey taste, and stir-fried until the oil was visible but the sauce wasn't thickened. The sweetness of the onions and carrots added to the complex flavor. Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin: Just average, like a typical Shanghai style home-cooked meal. Nothing special to say. General Gao's Tofu 左宗豆腐: My first time trying the famous "General Tso" (I don't know why they call it General Gao) series of American Chinese cuisine. It felt similar to the technique used in Shanghainese "Kung Pao宮保." A slightly sweet and sour flavor with the aroma and mild spiciness of dried chili peppers, the ingredients were deep-fried and coated in a thick sauce. The tofu was overcooked, the edges were hard, and the sauce became a bit watery towards the end. This dish was just okay.

Fish Fillet with Hot Chili Sauce水煮魚片: As expected of their signature dish! The basa fish fillets were incredibly tender, the Szechuan peppercorns were fragrant but not numbing, and the overall flavor was oily but not greasy. The server would remove the chilies after serving, so there was no need to worry about the spiciness. Beef Fillets & Cabbage with Hot Chili Sauce水煮牛肉: Redder and spicier than the boiled fish. The Szechuan people present commented that this was the only dish with flavor. The beef was very tender; although you could taste the tenderizing powder, it wasn't a big problem. Scallions and Szechuan peppercorns contributed much to the fragrance. Pork Intestine with Preserved Vegetable酸菜大腸: Surprisingly, it tasted like... Hakka cuisine? The pork intestines were cut on the thicker side, not the usual kind, but the slightly sour and spicy flavor with a light thickening was just right. Spicy Frog in Fried Pot乾鍋牛蛙: Despite the name, there was a lot of sauce; the bullfrog meat was too tough and chewy. Not recommended. Ma Po Tofu (With minced pork)麻婆豆腐: Very delicious! The tofu was very tender, and the Sichuan peppercorns were very fragrant. Duck with Peking Plum Sauce京醬鴨片: The duck meat was mushy and lacked texture, and the Beijing plum sauce was heavily diluted. I had a feeling of not knowing what I had eaten. Sichuan Spicy Dumpling紅油水餃: I loved them!! The dumplings were large, the filling was generous, and the skin was on the thicker side, giving them a good chewy and firm texture. Besides the chili oil and peanuts, there was a hint of vinegar, which was very refreshing. Steamed Juicy Pork Bun小籠包: The restaurant claims they are handmade daily. Plenty of soup filling, but slightly oily; the skin was chewy but not dry, unfortunately one was broken. If this isn't the case for most places, then Fuchun Ju excels in its fillings, while Zoe's excels in its skins; both are comparable and worth trying.
