Take it from a born and raised Wisconsinite: Andy's is the best custard you'll find in the Greater Denver Area. I think there a lot of excellent ice cream options in the area, and I also frequent them, but ice cream cannot beat frozen custard when that's exactly what I'm craving. Admittedly I haven't taken an extensive dive into the Andy's menu, but I know what I like. What I like is the Double Double Malt. Deliciously thick, and I like opting for butterscotch instead of chocolate on occasion. There's a lot of gratitude I have for living near this location since this is one of my favorite comfort treats. Does it completely replace my favorite Wisconsin custard establishments? No, they are still the gold standard. But this is the closest thing to home. Yes, even over a certain chain that originated there. Now, where they have a leg up on Andy's is by also serving food alongside custard, but when I'm just craving the frozen treat, I'll stick with Andy's. My son and I came here on a mommy baby date. Lets starrt by saying the customer service was on point as the young lady who helped us was very sweet and gave my son some good recommendations. I also asked if they offered kid's sizes and unfortunately was informed only for their sundaes. The young lady let me know most people ask if they offer anything larger than a large and seemed shocked by my question. He opted for the strawberry oreo shake and as a butter pecan connoisseur myself, I couldn't resist. I also got my husband a root beer freeze to-go. My son really liked it. Concrete: frozen custard mixed with other toppings and sauces. I went with the Boot Daddy consisting of oreo, creme caramel, and hot fudge. Taste wise, it's everything I wanted in a frozen dessert with the nice sized oreo pieces plus the fudge and caramel meshing nicely. However the consistency of the concrete was a bit too soft which might be due to the hot fudge. So it was almost like soft frozen yogurt. Still delicious nonetheless. Drive thru service is effective and accurate. It moves pretty quick so even if there's a line, don't let it deter you from satisfying your cravings. read more

After having a much to be desired meal from across the street, we made a one way trip to dessert-ville and explored their malty ice cream goodness Concretes and well, malts. Nick ordered a small Andy's Choc-O-Rocko cup and enjoyed the crunchiness of roasted almonds, yet sweet wave of the marshmallow creme. My little sister and I were delighted to have upgraded our malts and ice cream to a medium size! The friendly sales associate came outside with a touch pad, and took our order from there. It was so windy and cold, so we appreciated all their hard work. The upgrading was recommended because it came with a Christmas reindeer cup. Again, No lines. Pretty dead ghost down! However, we ordered a Medium Strawberry & Oreo Concrete and a James Brownie Funky Jackhammer!! My Strawberries & Oreo Concrete had both the crunchiness from the frozen strawberries and also the Oreo cookies. I was pleased to know that the medium was pretty tall and filling. My sister and I swapped cups constantly and I got to try out the brownie bits from the James Brownie cup. It was absolutely delicious because I tasted the chocolate and caramel flavors ultimately!! I've had probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had here at Andy's. Trust me, I can go in detail with this but instead I'll only highlight the main points. Restrooms, disgusting. Cleanliness in the workplace, disgusting. Reeking odor inside this place, disgusting. Lastly, the butter pecan concrete I ordered was melted. Other competitors in this market does an entirely better job, and I will not name drop who... DQ. Anyways, this place was terrible and it is so unfortunate to walk away with no positives and it is shameful for the Andy's brand. It was as if no standards were set at this location. My first time at Andy's was far from a disappointment. The building itself is bright and inviting, and the inside was very clean and hip! Andy's custard is somethin' else! I was expecting it to be similar to Freddy's, but in my opinion Andy's is better. The custard is super thick and creamy and there's a larger variety of concretes/sundaes/floats to choose from than at Freddy's. Also, their service is phenomenal! This cute little frozen custard place is cranking out homemade custard in house every hour and serving it either in the form of a sundae, cone, malt, shake, float or concrete (think blizzard). The hubby ordered the butter pecan concrete which was vanilla custard, butterscotch sauce and Andy's famous pecans which were SO awesome and tasty! I ordered the seasonal concrete which was the peach concrete. It was very simple and just vanilla custard and fresh peaches but very light and refreshing. I thought it was a bit on the pricey side ($12 for a small and medium) but will definitely be back. This place just opened up around the corner from my climbing gym... and it's dangerous! Their service is super quick, & they make good custard. The first time I went here, I tried some kind of concrete with mint syrup, but probably would not get that again. However, the last time I went here I got their peach sundae & was so impressed. I just assumed the peaches would be canned peaches with fake peach syrup, but was pleasantly surprised to find that they use fresh peaches! Also, their custard has a very nice, thick quality you would expect - just plain, vanilla custard would be satisfying from here. They have an extensive, intricate menu with plenty of options to satisfy any & all sweet tooth cravings. Four stars instead of five as their prices are a bit steep... but their portions are also very large. I made the mistake of ordering a medium my first go-round. Well we have been here twice and the custard is very very good. We really like to share a small James brownie. I honestly don't see how anyone could eat more than one of their small concretes, they are huge! Only reason for not giving 5 stars is the inconsistency. The first time we came we had big brownie chunks and then the next time it seemed like the brownie had been ground up really fine into the custard mixture :( I want big brownie chunks in my James Brownie! I love how they have a drive thru but the down side is that there is really no place to sit and enjoy them except for the benches found on the sides. They have quite a few options. Andy's is a dedicated place for frozen custard but not one that's semi-self serve like so many fro-yo places (so if YOU screwed up, you can't blame anyone else...) I enjoyed what I had on opening day and the staff was friendly. It seems like a big open space with only benches alongside the glass doors but it's cool. I can't praise this business enough. I have been going here for years and I have yet to come in when the staff wasn't attentive, courteous, polite, and willing to go above and beyond. They work late hours, most establishments towards the end of the night glare at you when you come in, have an attitude with you and act like you've done something wrong if you don't tip but not this location. The sweet treats are always amazing as well. Only thing I was they would do would be to allow tips on credit and debit cards I feel bad when I don't have cash to give them. This place makes me ignore the fact that my body doesn't handle dairy very well. It's pretty much on the way home from work, errands or going out to dinner, so this is a near daily temptation. My usual is the BootDaddy Concrete with vanilla custard mixed with Oreos, caramel and hot fudge. While I have a serious sweet tooth, I can only handle ordering a small. Even then, I sometimes only eat half. This stuff is sweet, creamy and delicious, puts DQ to shame. The add-ins are pretty generous and if you want to kick things up even more, you can get a "jackhammer" where they fill the entire center with a decadent hit of hot fudge or some other topping. They also offer shakes, malts, sundaes, floats and more. While I'll stick with my concretes, they do have something for everyone. I think what I appreciate most is the drive-thru. It's super convenient, and I can roll off the couch and head over without having to be presentable. They work quickly and I'm back on the couch with my sweet treat in a jiffy. I would like it if they put a lid on since it's obviously to go, so be sure to ask for one when ordering! That about covers it, I think. They keep it simple and do what they do well. OK, I won't bury the lede: Andy's is simply the best frozen custard in Colorado. Hailing from the Midwest, I'm a frozen custard aficionado, and most frozen custard here is anything but, even from chains that hail from the Midwest. By contrast, Andy's gets the texture JUST right - it should be firm but creamy, your spoon should slide through it without difficulty but without "mushing it." The custard machines inside this wonderfully decorated restaurant make the "chugga chugga" sound anyone familiar with Wisconsin frozen custard stands would recognize instantly and it brought a huge smile to my face. I had a medium cup of vanilla, and it was wonderful, ALMOST as good as what you would find in Wisconsin, but it needs to be a bit more eggy - an area where all Colorado frozen custards seem to fall short. So while my favorite Milwaukee frozen custard stand has nothing to fear from Andy's, anytime I am craving some in Colorado, Andy's will be where I go. Note the service is exceptional as well - once the drive thru gets more than a few cars in it, they send out an employee with a tablet to take your order, just like Chick-Fil-A and In-N-Out do, a very nice touch. read more
