I was directed to leave a message for the manager, who was incredibly rude and unprofessional when she returned my call. Instead of helping resolve the issue, she informed me that my father's upcoming appointment would be canceled since he was "out of network," and placed all the blame on the intake department. Very disappointing experience overall -- poor communication, lack of accountability, and no compassion for patients or their families. I would not recommend trusting this facility with your loved one's care.

After hip replacement surgery, I was an inpatient here for two weeks (March 7-21, 2024)--I did not…read morego anywhere else during this time. They rightly earn at least one star due to excellent PT and OT plus Bella (OT) and Bea (aide), bright lights who made my time there bearable. Wheatridge Manor missed a chance for a higher rating because they almost killed me with a wrong assessment and then a 10-hour delay of needed treatment on March 21. I had contracted strep A sepsis there (and went into kidney failure), necessitating ambulance transport from Wheatridge Manor to Lutheran Hospital ER where they fought for hours to save my life. Source of infection: untreated bug bites (about 3-19 at Wheatridge Manor) which became infected and then developed into a bad case of cellulitis. Additional details: from the time (around 4am) of my first physical symptoms on the morning of March 21 (pain, uncontrollable shaking, vomiting; a few hours later, expressive aphasia--inability to process language), the night nurse Pam and day nurse Jennifer wrongly assessed me as experiencing a panic attack due to "anxiety" about going home. Pam also chewed me out for taking time away from other patients who "really" needed her care (my friend witnessed that unpleasant exchange). I was in and out of awareness for the rest of that day. This terrified me (my symptoms as well as being ignored and dismissed by the nursing staff) as I knew something was very, very wrong. Needing support and a witness, I called my friend (retired nurse). She arrived at the facility around 5am and stayed with me all day. Finally, around 2pm, I asked her to phone my high school BFF in Houston who's a doctor. Dr friend had two words for us: "Ambulance now!" Wheatridge's day nurse, Jennifer, only made the phone call due to pressure from my witness. These two dear friends, along with Lutheran's ER and other medical personnel, saved my life. Accordingly, I do not recommend Wheatridge Manor for anyone. Yes, the PT and OT are great, but the rest of the facility lacks adequate, coordinated care. However, if that place seems the best placement for your loved one, be sure to check on them frequently and to advocate for their needs or they may either almost die like me, or actually die, from inadequate care.

Regardless of the fact that we did not see this coming, extended family home care continued to bill for 2 weeks worth of services which was about 1,200+ only because they were not notified of cancelling services. We had two other home care agencies providing services and neither one of them had this unethical billing policy. On top of that, some of the caregivers did not seem to provide quality care. And also had inconsistent caregiving services, with some cancelling last minute or did not even had the right skill level to care for my mother.

Ok get that maybe she's with another patient however I've been trying to reach out to her since 11am it's now going on 315pm office closes at 5 and still not a call back. Front desk doesn't know where she is maybe at lunch if so they don't know when she'll be back multiple messages you don't leave a voicemail stating you got some results and expect me to stay calm till you find a day to return my call. Keep in mind she's the nurse not even the doctor and yet the doctor can't just give me the results nobody can lol worst service I've ever had in my life. Even speaking to the supervisor who just made up so many excuses as to why i couldn't get the help i was looking for has my blood boiling she's lucky i was so uninterested in her words i failed to catch her name she was laughing on the phone while i expressed my frustrations. My husband & I have been trying to put together a team of OB/doula/midwife for the home birth of our first baby. We found an amazing Ethiopian doula here in Denver at around 8 weeks & finally found a midwife we adore a few weeks ago. In between us meeting and hiring our doula & midwife, we scheduled an OB appointment, you know, just to see who all is out there. We scheduled an appointment with an OBGYN who I had seen was recommended in several FB groups for parents wanting black birthing professionals. The only red flag was that a few ppl said that the doctor was very judgmental...still excited for the appointment nonetheless. She was so booked up that we only got to see her at our 13 week visit because someone canceled. When I tell you that THAT was the worst doctor experience of my life. First off, she was dismissive of our questions & commentary. Her phone kept ringing, at least 3 times during the appointment & she answered it each time without so much as an excuse me. She rushed thru the ultrasound so we couldn't get a clear picture of the baby. MIND YOU, Before going into our appointment, I already knew not to share that we were planning a home birth. First because I've worked in a hospital before & second, that red flag I mentioned from earlier. My husband made the mistake of asking if we should still see her AND our midwife if we're planning a home birth. BAYBEH, she went left. Talking down on home births & how she'd never recommend anyone give birth at home & how she'd be so pissed if her husband or any of her kids even suggested it. Didn't give any facts, stats, or statistics, just her personal take on home births. Big turn off for me. Then she locked eyes with me & goes "I'd flip if my husband even suggested a home birth" as if to shift the blame to my husband & make him out to be some kind of caveman forcing me to birth at home. THEN to add insult to injury, we were supposed to do genetic testing that day. They even made SURE that I spent an hour plus on the phone with insurance to make sure the test was covered. Just for them to send us to the wrong lab where we waited for 40 minutes before they called us to come back to the office. The nurse was very sweet, but she stuck me 4 times, spilled some of my blood. JUST for us to receive an email a week later saying we needed to come in for a redraw because there wasn't enough blood sample. Long story short, my husband wouldn't start the car & leave after until I cried & vented cuz he knew how pissed I was. Thankfully, never going back.
