It was Mother's Day weekend and I had been on a hunt to find my mom an AFFORDABLE plant in a…read morebasket. It doesn't seem like a hard task and I do it every year... But this year everything I was finding was more then twice the price of previous years. I drove by Imperial Produce on my way to Kimmswick and saw the plants outside. I popped in and the prices were reasonable! The plants also looked amazing - healthy, nicely potted and they had multiple different price points depending on what you were looking for. Inside they also have fresh produce (as the name suggests) and jams and butters and bread. This is a very small place with limited parking. It was hard getting in to pay with my plants but I didn't want to leave them outside because they were very busy and I didn't want someone else to take my plants... If you plan to buy a lot it may be helpful to alert an employee when you get there that you need help. An employee did offer to help me and I took some advice from him. But then I took a very long time mosying around and trying to make a decision and he was not available when I finally made my decision.

I saw someone else comment about buying moldy strawberries, and what I will say is that this fruit is really fresh and will mold quickly if you don't eat it immediately. Always check fruit before you buy from anywhere because produce always has a risk of mold. I like the farmer's market ambience, the handmade signs and drawn price tags etc. I've only ever met nice workers here. It's a great place.

I get home and after watering and feeding the flowers, in 3 weeks they were dead. Yes I watered them just exactly like the ones I bought from Buccheits for a fraction of the price and they are beautiful, thriving, and looking so healthy. I will never again spend that much money there or buy flowers from there. I see that their produce is going sky high so don't think you will save money by going to a produce stand. I also read someone commented on their produce that they bought there and the berries on the bottom were no good. I thought I was doing the right thing going to a family owned business to super them, however I now see that my 241$ may have helped them in their business, it sure didn't help me. If you would like pictures to see the difference in my Buccheits plants that were so so much cheaper and thriving, and Richard's produce flowers... I'll be more than happy to take these to show you. I held off bc didn't want to embarrass you unless you asked for the pictures.

Great place for a variety of fresh produce…read more I got huge, red tomatoes, last Thursday, August 6. My girlfriend got half a watermelon and tomatoes. Also available: cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, peaches, radishes, cauliflower, plums, celery, cantaloupe, green beans, eggplant, garlic, jalapeno peppers. Much, much more. I don't know any place where you can get half a seedless watermelon. But they had a half ready for my girlfriend -- all wrapped up -- and it was beautiful. It comes from Sikeston. The folks are so friendly and personable, as are the patrons. The address is Delmar, but the open-air market is really behind the shops on Delmar along the huge parking lot that spans east from Cicero's for a couple blocks. It's adjacent to Midtown Farmers Market.
