Good gas quality is what make this gas station a great choice to fill in your car. Price is steep but you can't go wrong with 'em. It even have a convenience store where you can buy something quick to munch along the road. And the best part is every Thursday is Fajita's Day! I kid you not but this fajita is so good. Like a perfect breakfast to munch. Nothing fancy to it but boy, they taste so good. The recipe is from one of the workers and locals loved it so much that they decided to include it in the menu every Thursday. In result it's already late evening when we arrived Packwood. Restaurants are closed and no nearby town in Packwood that has eateries. That's why 24hrs convenient stores came in handy. This location don't have packed meals but still grateful for being available 24/7. So canned goods and cup noodles are enough for us to fuel evenings to our tummy who's struggling to function well. Oh btw, their aircon here is always in blast so prepare to grab your sweater/jacket coz it's freezing in here. Lol. The staff is not the friendliest but I can managed to that. They tried to distract me with random compliments during payment, but I caught on right away. It's unfortunate, but I decided to pay them anyways since it is a local business, and I like to donate for those in need once a month. Nothing like heading home relaxed to get a large dose of attitude from someone who simply wasn't paying attention. She thought I was pulling (backing) in from the wrong side. Didn't realize I was simply moving the car closer after pulling in too far off the pump to let the wife out. She went out of her way to tell me to go ahead and get my fuel someplace else and that the next station was 16 miles away, as if I didn't know where I was. She also made a point of pulling her jacket open so I could read her name tag as she announced at high volume that her name is SAM. Ok Sam, good on you for running me off. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know what fine customer service skills you have. The most ridiculous part - there was no one at the pump behind me so even if I had backed in, to simply ask me to not do that again would have led to her realizing that I hadn't done it in the first place. When you come at someone with all that attitude there probably won't be much conversation Sammy ... Their prices are great, but I'll spend $4.00 more next time and skip the attitude.

If you do a search on Google Maps for nearby gas stations, the search results aren't Shell, 76, Mobil or Chevron. This one came up as search return hit number 2. I thought the name was odd for a gas station but better to not be stuck in the middle of nowhere which had already happened to me earlier this week. (Thanks, Oregon potholes!) Just driving through Maupin is a trip. Like so many other small towns I've seen so far in the state of OR, they're like time capsules unto themselves. Isolated and existing much as they have over the years without succumbing to big box corporate mundanity. If you drive too fast, you might miss this tiny service station. I loved looking at their two pumps enough to take a pic along with the sticker art nearby. :) The guy who pumped the gas was super nice and mellow. $39 for a regular fill-up for my rental Corolla.
