Macchina is a chain of quick pasta meals scattered across Barcelona. It's catered to those who need…read morea quick meal or can't necessarily wait for customary Spain dinner times. Concept is fairly simple: choose what type of pasta you want, the sauce, and any toppings. I needed some form of sauce so I got the customary red sauce with spinach, mozzarella cheese, and tomatoes over rigatoni. The pasta is cooked al dente. It took about 5-10 mins for it to be ready. The only blemish is that I wish there was an option for a spicier red sauce. There was one (I think?) but it had bacon so I had to pass. It was filling though. Prices are what they are for being near the central area. But at least it's quick.....

It was busy when we arrived but there were still many tables available. The decor was warm & welcoming. Unfortunately I wish I could say the same for our server. He was abrupt & seemed annoyed we were there, not very attentive either. However, our food was wonderful! We ordered two entrees, a beef sirloin dish & a pasta dish. Our food came out fast. The beef were tender sirloin medallions in a flavorful white wine sauce over risotto, very delicious. The pasta was stuffed with truffle served with a porcini mushroom sauce & truffle pearls. A luscious dish...both rich & satisfying. We really enjoyed our dinner!
Anniversary Dinner in Barcelona -- Pleasantly Surprised!…read more Celebrated our anniversary here at Luigi's while in Barcelona, and honestly, I was surprised that it wasn't as expensive as I expected for a nice sit-down spot in the city. Service was decent and the food came out at a good pace. We started with the Burrata salad (€14), which was super refreshing, especially with the balsamic vinaigrette. We also ordered the prosciutto pizza (around €14), which was simple, tasty, and hit the spot. Of course, I had to try the truffle pasta (about €13) -- creamy and comforting just the way I like it. Hubby ordered the seafood linguine (€15), and that was actually a standout -- light, flavorful, and packed with the perfect amount of shrimp. Overall, such a nice spot to enjoy Italian food in Barcelona without breaking the bank. Definitely a pleasant surprise for our anniversary dinner. Happy eats!

Thank you, Yelp! I…read morestrolled up to Obe at the end of a weeklong business trip. It would be my last dinner in Barcelona, but it was among the best. Let's start with the pan y tomate. I've eaten this traditional treat at several Barcelona restaurants, and I believe Obe has the best. The best. It was crunchy and tomatoey and oily in all the right ways. An incredible treat for 3,50€. For dinner, I had the tagliata steak with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and parmesan. Although I think 22,50€ is probably too steep for the small amount of food I received, I really enjoyed the meal. As far as the atmosphere, it's very quaint - similar to a small bistro as opposed to a romantic place. My server was incredibly nice as I fumbled with my Spanish. I overheard other English speakers who made no attempt at Spanish and they were able to get by. If you want pan y tomate done right, a small, quiet atmosphere, and lovely service, I highly recommend popping into Obe.
