Thank you, Yelp! I strolled up to Obe at the end of a weeklong business trip. It would be my last dinner in Barcelona, but it was among the best. Let's start with the pan y tomate. I've eaten this traditional treat at several Barcelona restaurants, and I believe Obe has the best. The best. It was crunchy and tomatoey and oily in all the right ways. An incredible treat for 3,50€. For dinner, I had the tagliata steak with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and parmesan. Although I think 22,50€ is probably too steep for the small amount of food I received, I really enjoyed the meal. As far as the atmosphere, it's very quaint - similar to a small bistro as opposed to a romantic place. My server was incredibly nice as I fumbled with my Spanish. I overheard other English speakers who made no attempt at Spanish and they were able to get by. If you want pan y tomate done right, a small, quiet atmosphere, and lovely service, I highly recommend popping into Obe. read more

We had a reservation for 9 PM and the place was fairly empty for a Saturday night (only 5-6 tables filled). We sat down and waited over 20 minutes (9:00 to 9:20) before choosing to leave. We were not acknowledged once beyond being seated initially, and overheard several other tables complaining about the same issue. I don't want to make assumptions but it seemed as if the problem was only encountered by other English speaking patrons. For a place with seemingly good reviews, I was incredibly disappointed by the service. Even if the servers were understaffed, there should've been some level of communication that they were busy and would get to us in a moment. As English speaking vacationers in a Spanish speaking country, I understand that we are not the native tongue. However, it is still possible to verbalize this or leave some sort of disclaimer, especially considering the fact that their restaurant was located in a well-trafficked area by tourists. I'm a waiter and try to be very understanding, but this was just unacceptable. Their menu looked delicious and hopefully they get their act together for the future. read more

Excellent Italian meal at Obe on our last night of our stay here in Barcelona. We started with the cheese plate (came with some wonderful speads) and split the pear, cheese and pea shoots. Both were quite yummy. For mains, my wife had the ravioli with beet root and sage while I had the red shrimp risotto. My dish was wonderful and I got to taste my wife's food and it was good. The wine menu was mainly Italian wines with a wide selection available. Service was good. All in all a very nice time. Definite recommendation. read more

So rude!!! We were a walk in and the smart ass girl at the front informed us reservations only. We said "no problem " but before we could leave, she came over and asked us to move out of the doorway. It had just started to pour rain and we had no idea where we were or where to go to next. Do not bother!!! read more

This is easily one of the best dining experiences in all my travels. My husband and I went there while on vacation to try something off the Spanish fare. Being of Italian descent and having been to Italy many times we are a bit spoiled when it comes to good Italian food. Obe blew our minds. It was the best homemade Italian food we have ever experienced in any country. The waitress spoke very little English and yet still made us feel welcome and was very helpful. The feel of the restaurant was welcoming and while it had a classy feeling it was as welcoming to families with children as those of us on a date. ****Hidden Gem in near La Rambla. After two days in Barcelona eating tapas, we were ready rather quickly to change it up. We searched high and low for an Italian restaurant and the few ones we discovered that seemed any good were not Available for seating my family of 3. I was not about to eat any more tapas so I kept looking and read the fantastic reviews for Obe restaurant. As an Italian from Napoli and also an owner of my own Italian restaurant, I know authentic Italian food when I see it. This place was nothing short of stellar quality and freshness. What a gem! Located in the Born district of Barcelona, which is the trendy place at the moment, is the Obe Restaurant. The name threw me, because I would have expected Asian Cuisine, however, it's Italian through and through. They have an incredible selection of wonderful wines, from Italy of course. I order an Aperol Spritz. Tasted as authentic as it could. We enjoyed appetizers and pasta entrees. We were both very happy with our meals. The noodles are served 'al dente', so if you like them softer, you might want to let the server know. The ambiance is nice and cozy for friends, family or a romantic evening. Over all the price was reasonable, as well. Two appetizers, two Aperol Spritz, two glasses of wine, two entrees and one dessert, came to 80 Euros, which included taxes. No need for tip, because you're in Spain and this is not a common procedure amongst locals. If the service is good, you can leave a couple of Euros to say thanks. My wife and I read good things on Yelp and decided to check Obe out when we were in Barcelona. We were quite happy with our meals which at this very moment she had escapes me but I had the TAGLIATA CON RÚCULA, TOMATITOS Y PARMESANO, which was a very nice cut of steak with a nice green salad with small tomatoes and shaved parmesan over it. The waitress and the chef (I assume) treated us amazingly, we were treated to a complimentary puff pastry with anchovy starter which was very good despite my normally not enjoying anchovies. They offered us a artichoke risotto ball compliments of the chef which was delicious. We had the pappardelle lamb ragout and the pork shank. But prepared perfectly. This place was our family's favorite dinner place during our visit to Barcelona. We tried the house olives and the patatas bravas for appetizers. For mains, the carne mixta, beet ravioli, pasta w duck and mushrooms, and the breaded steak from the kids menu (which delighted my 5 year old who was amazed by the "biggest chicken nugget EVER!"). Daughter and I had a super lunch last week, outdoors. Warm service, waitresses couldn't have been nicer, Really super food, I had the one of their daily lunch specials - it was just crazy, 3 courses for maybe 12-14€ (I can't recall), excellent food. This is high-style food served in a more casual atmosphere and with great quality. Worst Italian meal I have ever had. The wine selection recommended was poor with both options and the food was even more disappointing. Even the caprese salad had non ripe tomatoes and no flavors.
