Angel Bakery is a food court stall located inside Hong Kong Supermarket on Jimmy Carter Blvd in Norcross, not far from I-85 exit 99. I had never given this bakery much thought the times I'd been inside Hong Kong Supermarket. Little did I know, their cakes are da bomb. One of my friends got her wedding cake from here and I thought it was friggin' delicious. I believe we had the French vanilla strawberry buttercream cake. It was perfect. It had the ideal taste and texture, from the fluffy white icing to the three layers of moist and delicious cake on the inside. In addition to cakes, Angel Bakery sells drinks like bubble tea and Vietnamese smoothies, Asian buns and pastries, and other various snacks (savory and sweet) and desserts. The prices are pretty reasonable. Angel Bakery has been around for over a decade. The place isn't much to look at, especially compared to newer Asian bakeries around metro Atlanta, but she's got it where it counts. Like Hong Kong Supermarket, I believe Angel Bakery is primarily Vietnamese / Vietnamese-American owned and operated with a primarily Vietnamese / Vietnamese-American clientele. Needed moon cakes to take to a relative along with some produce. Angel Bakery is located inside the Hong Kong Supermarket. They did not have egg tarts, but their sesame balls and sesame flatbreads were good. Also the pineapple buns were the right amount of sweet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The storefront could use a little clean up, but glad to support a small family owned business. read more

Working with this bakery was truly a blessing. I received a beautiful product at a reasonable price and excellent customer service. My daughter is diabetic and wanted a traditional birthday cake for her quinceanera. The Asian chiffon birthday cake was to die for. Not only was it beautiful, but sweet enough for my daughter to take a bite with the other guest. I got lots of compliments and questions as to where I got her cake. I haven't actually been to this location, but I get their bakery items from the Cambodian store in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Jacksonville, FL. They are either shipped in or the owner goes to get them. I'm not really sure. I especially love the two types of pork buns with the sweetness of the bread and the savory flavor of the pork. The taro filled buns are equally delicious. Each bun comes individually wrapped for freshness and and tastes like they were just baked. The heat up very well, too. One of these days I plan on making a road trip to Norcross to visit Angel Bakery and then I'll be able to give this place a proper review. As for now, the limited baked goods available to us right now deserves four solid stars. :) read more

It's been some time since I was here, and I don't have any pictures, but I remember everything I got was great. The mung bean sesame ball and bánh tiêu (a Vietnamese hollow sesame donut) were fried perfectly, without greasiness, and the mung bean sesame ball had a delicious filling. A lot of mung bean sesame ball fillings are too sweet, too heavy and/or don't have enough flavor coming from the mung bean specifically and it was not the case here. Their flaky mooncakes are delicious! I got pineapple and red bean. The red bean is best heated and the pineapple is best room temp or cool. Super flaky, not greasy and yet again, perfect filling that was sweet enough but not too sweet and allowed the main ingredient's flavor to really shine. The pandan chiffon cake and coconut cream bun were also incredible, and I was honestly partially just happy they had these as options - pandan stuff isn't super common but it is one of my favorite flavors, and some places like Sweet Hut can make it a little too sweet. Most bakeries either have a buttercream or a coconut cream bun but buttercream bun is more popular and being that I love coconut cream and dislike buttercream I was pretty happy to see it here. It had plenty of filling, very soft, and the coconut cream was delicious. The almond cookies weren't super almond-y, but they still had such a delicious flavor that they were hard to put down (and while they were the most expensive item there, they came in a giant boxful). Overall, this has been one of my favorite, if not my favorite bakery in the Atlanta area. In terms of the selection they have they are definitely my favorite, carrying both some of the best Vietnamese and some of the best Chinese treats, including quite a number of mooncake styles. I plan to come back at some point to try some of the other items because nothing I got here was less than stellar. read more

It can be totally ignored if it wasn't for my friend recently who got a huge cake for her dad's 70th birthday party. You know Asian OGs prefer Asian baked goods to not be overly sweet. I was in charge of organizing a celebration at work on May 21st - which is actually the official day for World Day for Cultural Diversity. I preordered and prepaid (you could put 50% down and pay the other 50% when picking up). I wanted a full (whole) size cake with strawberries in the middle. It would have whipped cream topping. It cost close to $170 with taxes and everything. Picking it up on the day of May 21st, which is a Monday around 10 am. Although it wasn't completely ready yet because they wanted to make sure I actually come pick it up and put the final layer on top. It is a HUGE cake. The cake is soooo big and heavy, the guy offered to bring to my car, which was really sweet. I waited longer than I should and they offered me a drink on the house but I declined cause I had to pick up another cake after this. When we celebrated at work, I can say that this cake was the most popular. Decoration is on point and everyone loved! A co-worker asked me where could she buy it from cause she is from California and it reminded her of the bakeris back home. Thank you Angel Bakery for making a great experience at work. Probably my favorite place to get Asian birthday cakes with fruit. They have the best price for it so far as I know, it's BEAUTIFULLY decorated, and absolutely delicious! I also have a go-to drink when I'm not ordering cakes, and that's the strawberry smoothie with lychee topping. My mom likes going here for their pastries. It never disappoints! read more

In this world nothing is certain, but death and taxes... and my mom getting my birthday cake from Angel Bakery every December. This Vietnamese bakery is located inside Hong Kong Supermarket (on the right-hand side of the store in the little food court area). They offer a variety of sweet and savory breads, buns, cookies, and tarts in addition to their cakes. You'll definitely want to order the cakes in advance for the advantage of being able to specify design/colors and also to ensure availability. My Viet family will only buy this type of cake, where the cake is spongy, like angel food cake, and the icing is barely sweet with a consistency similar to that of room temperature Cool Whip. Some of my friends think that this cake isn't sweet enough, but my whole family loves it and I'm addicted. I've been known to eat half a cake in one sitting. No shame. No regrets. The quality has been consistent year after year. I love the traditional embellishments of cantaloupe and honeydew melon balls, strawberries, and icing roses. These cakes bring a sense of nostalgia to me and have become a part of our celebratory traditions. read more

Please note that I'm writing this review only of the bubble tea they serve. My wife and I came out to Hong Kong Supermarket to pick up some essentials. We were both fresh off a trip to Royal China for dim sum with some friends and were feeling for some bubble tea. We knew that they had opened up a SunO in their food court and were planning on stopping by. On our way to SunO, we noticed that Angel Bakery also served up a variety of (non-blended) bubble tea, with the option of lychee jellies. What really caught my wife's eye was the fact that, unlike SunO, they served a honey green tea, which is far and away her favorite flavor. She ordered that and I ordered a passion fruit green tea (both with lychee jellies). Overall, the bubble tea was downright terrible.It was easily the worst bubble tea I've ever had (including blended bubble teas, which I despise). Neither of us could get through half of it before we had to throw them away. Why were they so bad? Well, I can say without hesitation that it was the bitterest thing I've ever put in my mouth. I couldn't even tell that mine was passion fruit or that my wife's was honey. Heck, I couldn't even taste the lychee jellies through the bitter. All I can say about their bubble tea is: never again. If you're at Hong Kong Supermarket and looking for bubble tea, do yourself a favor and pass this one by ... especially when there's a SunO right next door. read more

I've been occasionally coming here for years. In this area of Vietnamese food establishments, it's good to have someplace to buy Chinese flavors. I agree with the reviewer who credits them for making mooncake in-house when a lot of other places don't anymore. You can even get a fancy tin and gift bag. I think they've improved over the years. I've only had better Chinese birthday cake in GA from one other place. The egg tart was the best one I've had in this state. Their buns are not bad. They have sesame balls with red bean inside too. buy ten get one free. is that really a good deal? probably not, but when the guy behind the counter said that....i rushed over and got some more buns....which is very likely why i can't fit into any of my clothes. so...i leave royal china totally stuffed, with barely any room for this giant suno that i MUST have, yet i still pit stop over to angel bakery. for some reason, i need bbq pork buns, taro buns and red bean buns....all on top of a full round of dim sum. angel bakery has tons of baked treats, plus they make cakes, and i think they do bubble tea as well. can't speak to anything but the buns, and they are tasty. who doesn't have a dollar and some change for some fresh baked pockets of goodness? i'll take it...even though i do think they might skimp on the filling a wee little bit. oh well....i just eat two at a time instead of one. read more

Their pork buns are amazing... want to say more about the other varieties but that was the only one I've tried. I heated it for 20 seconds in the microwave and the bread was so soft and fluffy... so cute!!! I tore it in half to share with a friend and the sweet steamy aroma of the BBQ was amazing. We devoured it in seconds. Not too greasy, and the bun seemed to melt in my mouth with the fatty pork. Will buy more in the future!! read more

It's a good little place that will meet your asian sweet needs...however, their buns isn't really that great. But I have to give them props for making mooncake, which is pretty rare when it isn't available year round for some places. My fav mooncake is the five seed, it's a good substitute when it isn't the time for the moon fest. I like how they made it and it's pretty good. Their milk tea is really good, I've had many from different places and I have to say...this place got it just right! A perfect blend of milk and tea, not too sweet or too bitter. It's perfect and it's cheap. So if you want to have good milktea, this is the place to go! read more
