I have never had to use a bail bonding service-EVER. I don't think we set out in life thinking- "Oh yeah, I want to go to jail, and find the best Bail Bond Agent.... oh yeah!" Knock that off your bucket list, right?! I didn't know how to navigate this uncomfortable situation, which could've been super embarrassing. Well, I have to say that Angela answered my call, second ring. And, spoke my language (direct, knowledgeable and swift) and walked me through getting my jail bird bonded out within 2 hours. Do not go to Angela for your bail bonds needs. I've called and confirmed with many other bail bondsmen about their rates. Most bondsmen charge 10%, however if an attorney is retained, they return 2-3% back to you. Angela, however, proceeded to tell me that she would not return the 2-3% back of the 10% she charged because an attorney was not retained prior to being bailed out. In other words, to get the 2-3% back, I would have to retain an attorney before being bailed out... That doesn't make much sense as my priority is to use the money to bail out first then hire an attorney after. Many other bail bondsmen understand this, and will refund you the 2-3% back even if you bail yourself out then hire an attorney AFTER. They will offer a promissory note to which you sign, and if an attorney is retained AFTER being bailed out, you will receive your 2-3% back. Angela does not offer such services. On top of that, she told me that it is the LAW that she cannot pay me back the 2-3% of the 10% paid because an attorney MUST be retained PRIOR to being bailed out. This is false, as confirmed by many other bondsmen; there is no such law stating this. This is a policy that varies from bondsman to bondsman. I've found Angela to be a dishonest person. Her statements do not match up with the many other bondsmen I've talked to. If you're looking for bail go somewhere else. READ THIS (it may potentially save you a lot of money): Bondsmen may charge an "attorney rate" of 7-8% as opposed to the 10% if you retain a lawyer. Angela insists that you must retain the lawyer PRIOR to being bailed out to receive the "attorney rate." MANY other bondsmen allow you to retain the lawyer AFTER being bailed out and will still honor the 7-8% rate. GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY. EDITED Response to Angela's comment: Your explanations do not add up with what many of the other more competent and honest (in my opinion) bondsmen have told me. I believe many bondsmen would have the integrity to notify their clients that they would be able to receive the attorney rate if a promissory note is signed and the attorney is retained shorter thereAFTER the bail. If it is a customer's first time bailing someone out I would like them to be aware of such "law" (as you state) and potentially save a good chunk of change.
