I stopped by the Festus location to return about $30 worth of merchandise that didn't work properly, only to be told I needed to drive to the Eureka location instead. That's a 30-mile, 40-minute trip each way to return a $30 item. Apparently, my defective purchase requires a road trip. What's especially puzzling is that both stores have the same owners. I naively assumed that if one location could take my money, another location could hand it back. Silly me. From a customer perspective, this policy seems less about convenience and more about seeing how committed people are to making a return. In my case, the answer is simple: I'm committed to shopping somewhere else. The even better news is that I won't need to worry about future returns because I won't be making future purchases. It's disappointing because I genuinely liked the store. Unfortunately, the return policy turned a good customer experience into a lesson in creative obstacle courses.

So many of our privately owned bookstores are struggling right now, so we all need to reach out and give them as much support as we possibly can. EyeSeeMe, fortunately has a special niche in the market. It has an extensive inventory of books written for and supporting the children of our African American community. Through their success, they now provide and offer books for high school student and adults as well. Today, I attended a virtual book reading co-sponsored by EyeSeeMe and was totally inspired. Before attending the event I shopped the store and picked up a couple of the books being read. Now that the event is over, I cannot wait to give them to a co-workers son. In fact, in the future, I will be doing a lot of gift shopping here for those hard to buy for friends on my list. It will be easy to find something for them here and it will be inspiring. I came prepared this time by pulling up the store on the app, looking for the item I needed, noting the aisle and heading right there. This store was laid out exactly how the one in Arnold had been (which I had been to the night before). Went to the aisle with goggles and stock was limited (summer is almost over) but found something that worked that wouldn't break the bank and would last the next few days of the trip. Used self checkout as I was buying one thing and did not want to wait in line. Overall I got in, got what I needed and got out.

I had snagged a few kitchen items like I always and met her back at the closet section where she went through all the details, showed me different configurations, showed me the materials and what things would look like. It was great. We chatted while she was printing the specs for me to take home. I asked about the Bed, Bath, and Beyond oversized coupons hanging around the store. Turns out, they are owned by the same parent company so arriving soon Bed, Bath, and Beyond will take over about a third of the store! Not sure about Kirkland but there were some decorations from Kirkland, too so maybe it will be 3 stores in one! I will have to go back after the switchover occurs. After ordering and receiving the wrong poles for the shelves from Amazon, I decided to see if I could find them here. They indeed did have them, let me take my shelf into the store to see if it would work with their system, and it did. They have the ability to cut the poles to your specified size. Again, I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 due to price. I still maintain that they sell quality items here, so be prepared to pay for that quality. I did join their loyalty program, which includes 20% off of purchases. Since 4 poles cost around $120, I got $20 off, which makes it more palatable. Not everything in the store is hugely expensive, and it is an organizer's dream store.
