The crew was friendly, the boat was comfortable, and we enjoyed beautiful views of the bay. It's a great short cruise, perfect for families or anyone who wants to get on the water without a long commitment. They offer a variety of options including private charters, kids summer fishing camp, open boat fishing, and special themed tours. One of the tours they mentioned is the Great Gatsby tour, which is not always available. The tour guide is a book writer who has written many fiction books and has a great ability to provide interesting details that make the experience much more engaging. Overall, it was a pleasant trip. If you're in the Port Washington area, Angler Fleet is a solid choice for a bay cruise or fishing adventure. I booked a 4-hr Fluke & Porgy trip for Father's Day 2025 using a Groupon for my husband, my 3 year old and 4 year old sons, and myself. Had an issue figuring out where to enter the Groupon redemption code on the business' website to redeem it and the captain was so helpful when I called for help and texted me a screenshot of where to enter it. Day of the trip, everything was perfect. The capt and his mates greeted each group as they boarded, the boat left right on time and moved spots a few times to make sure everyone caught fish. There were snacks and drinks we could buy onboard and they collected $5 per person (optional) for the person who caught the biggest fish to win, which added to the fun. What impressed me enough to motivate me to write a review was how absolutely wonderful the captain and mates were with my kids. Starting from when they came around to explain how to use the fishing rods they were patient, helpful, attentive, kind, friendly, and sweet. Any time we needed anything, someone was right there to assist us with a smile. They even let the boys up to the helm to show them all the buttons and levers, let them sit in the captain's chair, wear the captain's hat, and blow the horn and announce to the group to start fishing! This was one of the best experiences we had! Booked a private charter for fishing with family and friends. Some seasoned and some first timers. Communication was great with Captain Ken! The day before trip was not looking great as weather was supposed to be bad, captain Ken contacted me the day before in the early afternoon to discuss options. Spoke to the rest of my family and friends and decided to take the chance and meet in the morning. Captain Ken agreed that if it look bad and dangerous we would still get the option to postpone the trip. Early morning around 8 AM. Weather was still not looking too great rain on and off. However, looking at the weather forecast, it was starting to look better throughout the day so we decided to go for it. At first, it started off a bit slow as we were searching around for a good location. Captain Ken decided to make the call and we switched locations and the kids started to catch some porgies. As the day went on at some points rain did hit hard but I think this only put some excitement to the trip. After a bit in this place and kids caught some fish we decided to hunt for bigger fish. Well a picture says a thousand words as you can see captain Ken and his mates did over and over again as we hunted them down. 16 large Blues!!! Everyone had a great experience and we caught more then anyone could have expected. The crew was extremely helpful and very nice. Helped at the end to filet all the fish that we caught. This day was a lot of fun for all adults and kids and can't wait to do this very soon. Would 100% be booking again with Captain Ken! Great location, clean ship and, an extremely professional crew! We decided to do a groupon deal for Angler Fleet for a Saturday morning to early afternoon trip and it was a better experience than I thought it would be. We had done a groupon deal before for a boat leaving Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, but the experience with Angler Fleet definitely trumped that one. For sure, the crew had plenty to do with the great experience. There was a mix of older and teenage crew members, but every single one of them were very helpful and professional throughout the trip. Whenever any one needed assistance to bait their hooks, untangle their lines, reel in big fish they were there, no questions asked. It made for a fantastic and enjoyable experience. To summarize the experience, first you have to get there. Port Washington was a pretty quiet town and when we arrived, we weren't sure where they were located, but the parking lot for the dock was across from 402 Main St. You can park anywhere you want in there and then you just have to walk to the Angler Fleet boat located at the end. The trip was from 8am-12pm and the crew took us out about 40 minutes away from Port Washington. We stopped to fish for about 20-30 minutes in multiple locations. Although the trip was only 4 hours, it felt longer, so it's PLENTY of time to get your fish on. If you do not have a fishing rod, they let you rent one for $5. The bait is free though so don't worry about that. So there you have it. The location was great, ship was clean and the crew was excellent --- I'll definitely want to come back again and fish with them. read more

I had a great time out on the water with Angler Fleet this weekend. Booked a groupon deal for 2 for a 4 hour fishing trip for $48.00. Bait is included but pole rental is an extra $3, so don't forget to bring CASH!!! You'll also want some cash to tip the crew, all of whom are supper nice and very helpful. The boat stays pretty much in the Bay of Manhasset, so you'll have some great views of the city skyline, but if you're wanting to get on some open water, you'll need to go a little farther out on Long Island. The best bites were off of City Island, both of us caught fluke, but ours were too small to be keepers. About 3 or 4 people on the boat caught keepers, the largest being 24.5 but they did not enter the pool*, the winner of the pool was a guy who caught a 18 inch fluke and win $90. One other tip, the boat can get a little crowded so I suggest getting there at least a half an hour before launch time so you get a good spot on the boat. Also I should mention, the on board bathroom was absolutely delightful. I've been on a few boats and have seen a lot of "interesting" bathrooms, but none as nice and clean as on this boat. *bring cash to enter the pool, if you catch something over 18 inches you have a good shot of winning! read more

Sea Robin kept eating my bait, so I did get the feeling of reeling in a fish..... God those things are Ugly. Awesome Crew, WHATS UP ART!!! Awesome Day Worth every penny. This place has a groupon deal which is basically a scam. I'm not sure if this place should be a 1 star or Groupon But I'm writing this in the hopes of someone seeing it and me getting a resolution. I bought a groupon $107 for 4 people and when I called they said they aren't doing that deal anymore but you would have to upgrade to $75 a person due to social distancing etc. I get it. Business are tough right now but Why do you have that deal going on right now. Which by the way Groupon is refusing any refunds on it. Basically You buy this groupon for $107 and you call to make a reservation and they said Oh we aren't doing it anymore but you can use that credit and pay EXTRA to go fishing with us. So that groupon just locks you in at 107 and then you have to dish out another $193 If you actually want to go fishing with it. That everyone... Is a scam... and It sucks but I fell for it. Groupon isn't refunding me. Nothing is being done about it. So here is my 1 star review. Would love it to be lower but Yelp doesn't allow for it. read more

They have snacks and refreshments available for purchase onboard. You can bring beer onboard with you. It is very kid friendly as well. Have you ever gone apple picking and not come back with apples? We took advantage of a deal on Living Social (everyone else on the boat did also). Their regular rates are $65 for adults, $55 for seniors, and $45 for kids. You have 2 options: 7am-2pm for fluke and porgies or 7pm-midnight for striped bass / bluefish (be sure to call for reservations for night fishing). Parking is free at the marina and if need another 6 pack of beer, there is a deli nearby (Harbor Deli - 304 Main St). Night fishing seems like the better option since it isn't hot and the sun is setting as you're going out. We arrived at 6:30pm for check-in and were greeted by the captain and Phil. The boat went out promptly at 7pm and we arrived at our first fishing spot in 45 minutes. Make sure to bring plenty of beer and snacks because there isn't much to do while you are waiting for a bite (or catch another person's line). Phil was quick to untangle us so we could get back to "fishing". We didn't catch anything, but everyone (including the fish) heard when a girl caught a nice sized striped bass. read more

I purchased this excursion on Groupon. It was $60 for 2 people (saving us $10). However, there was a $5 rental fee per person. The boat was pretty nice. It was a little crowded, but not unbearable. It was a slow day. I was able to catch 1 fish, my boyfriend didnt catch any . I did throw my fish back because it was a little small. Each stop was around 10-15 minutes. Again, it was a slow day... so I guess they kept moving for us to a better location. But no luck. The people on deck was really friendly. They were able to help untangle your lines and put bait on your hook. They're are snacks and drinks (including beer) for sale. Beers were $3 and snacks were $1. Parking was so confusing. Theres a sign saying no parking her unless your at certain stores. But no signage of Angler. You have to drive ALL the way down to the back and park. Then you'll see a very hidden sign that says Angler. We did leave 15 minutes late... but we also arrived back 15 minutes late. read more

I received an e-mail stating that today, June 23, was the opening of fishing for Black Sea Bass from 8AM-2PM. There was an e-mail link to ask questions and earlier in the week I sent an e-mail asking a few questions regarding reservations, etc. My e-mail was returned as the address was invalid. I called his phone Saturday, June 22nd, no answer. I left a message, no reply. I sent a text, no reply. I followed the instructions from the recorded phone message to go on the web-site to make a reservation. This particular trip was not listed. I sent a second e-mail which was returned as invalid. SO, I showed up at 6:30AM this morning and the mates had no idea about the sea bass trip. The owner of this enterprise is just in it for the money, and not for the love of fishing. I immediately drove out to Captree from Port Washington and fished all day on a "real" fishing boat! Save your money everyone and go out to Captree. Blaming a secretary for poor management and an incorrect e-mail address on a web-site is inexcusable. read more

Ok, never had the opportunity to experience Angler Fleet but already had a shady experience with the company when I inquired about using Groupon purchases for their 3 hour fishing outing. I was informed they were suspending the 3 hour outing because of the Covid19 pandemic but the 5 hour outing was available. Fine. Only thing is that I wa would need to pay the difference of the amount I paid on Groupon vs price of the 5 hour one --- not vs the face value of what the normal 3 hour outing would cost. I paid $30 on Groupon and that would had been $45 more pay for a $75 /person. They would not honor the Face Value cost for a 3 hour outing is already $55/person. It's the ole bait and switcheroo. I'm very disappointed in my experience with Angler Fleet. I just got done shopping (it's after 6PM) for everything to go on the 6AM tomorrow. I also had two buddies coming who arranged their entire schedule to make tomorrow work out. I received a call at 6:07 PM saying it has been cancelled (and apparently all other trips). Really? You only give a 12 HR notice but you require customers to notify at least 24 hours in advance? Really really disappointed with this company. I would not book with them again. read more

This was the 3rd year my photography group did a fireworks cruise across Long Island Sound. It was awesome! I took Angler Fleet on a number of occasions mostly for 4 hour fluke fishing. I recommended this place to my friends, and we purchased the Groupon deal to get on the boat. I made a reservation about 3 days before the trip through their website, explaining that we are paid in full through Groupon deal. We got a text message from the boat 1.5 hour before the trip that reads: "Just so you know, The Groupon deal is a one time deal. Not to be used over and over. We use Groupon to advertise for new customers. Going forward pay cash on the boat and not through Groupon" I purchased this once before, and Groupon allows re-purchase when Angler re-post the same deal. So, I thought it was reasonable enough that going forward I will pay the regular price. And, when I got to the dock the staff said I will need to pay the full fare starting that day which was $40 (Groupon deal was $28). I explained the situation and told them that at least my friends should be able to use the deal because they were all first-timers. The staff said it's not his call, and put me on the phone with the boat captain. I told him about re-purchase policy on Groupon, and that my friends are first timers. Without any rationale, the captain said none of us can use the deal. He brought up the dollar-figures and complained to me how little profit he was making off of Groupon deal. At that point, I was thinking he shouldn't post the deal on Groupon if he didn't want people using it in the first place.. He literally told me that I was being cheap because I am complaining about a couple of dollars.. At the end, I told the captain to forget about the trip, and that my party no longer wanted to be on the boat. The captain told me there will be a full-trip-cost penalty for each person. With that said, my party was forced to pay the full price for everyone and go on the trip in this really crappy mood.. Needless to say that I will not be returning to the boat, and now I have to prepare a claim to get my Groupon deal refunded because they is no option to refund voucher that's open. I don't even care about the extra charges anymore. I just think that the response from the captain/crew was completely unprofessional and unacceptable.. read more

I had an experience similar to the reviewer before me. Was supposed to go out from 6AM-12PM and gathered a bunch of supplies for it, left work early in order to be able to go the tackle store before they closed, and even got sandwiches and salads ready for the day in a cooler. About 11-12 hours before the day was supposed to begin, owner called saying they were cancelling the day. Unreal what these guys think they can get away with. If you've ever wanted to learn what it felt like to be a sardine in a can, this is the place to go! They really pack them in on the boat, and if your line is long enough, I'll bet they'd even let you fish from the roof! I went fishing with my boyfriend, and every pole place was taken -- even right up to the point of the bow on the ship (I should mention that I arrived about 1/2 hour prior to the reservation time, and was directed to the front of the boat). A couple of people weren't even at a pole stand because everyone's lines were getting tangled; one person's pole broke in the process of one of these entanglements. If you're familiar with fishing boats, you know that there is no shade at the bow of the ship. If you wanted to turn your body, you were stepping on someone else's feet or knocking over the small container holding the bait. If you were at the bow of the boat, you had to fish sideways (I kid you not). So, in summary, no room, no shade, and no where to sit (except the toilet and the inner corridor of the ship, but then you would not be fishing, would you?)! I expressed my concern with "Captain Ken" the next day, and was advised that they will pack in as many as possible, due to the short season that they can make money. Understandable, but inhumane. Oh, and speaking of money, the GroupOn that claims to save you $25 is actually a $5 savings. I did not use a GroupOn myself, so I wasn't too dismayed about this, but that is false advertising. My suggestion, Captain, is to charge a few dollars more and stick to the fishing instead of cattle calling. Added Note: I wanted to mention which boat I was on, but there is no photo of it. It was really small, and the bow had steps up to where we were expected to fish sideways, and there were steps going up to the Bridge. The boats on the Angler site shows seating along the front and no steps to either the Bridge nor the front of the ship. read more

After months of seeing the sign for The Angler Fleet at the Town Dock (Port Washington), I finally made the opportunity to experience it firsthand, and I have to admit that it was long overdue. For this particular friday, the trip which is normally 6-10pm, was an extended trip lasting till 12am. The time flew by and it was a great experience with an amazing crew that made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The boat can hold approx 20+ and the price includes bait, tackle, and fun times. Yes, its unfortunate that i had no fish to show for the 6hrs of marine time, but who cares... Spending time on a friday evening to unwind some great people i hadn't before was worth it. Overall, the Crew is not only friendly, but quite amazing as they keep the atmosphere relaxed and entertaining. The Angler Fleet is definitely worth the experience alone, so catching fish is an added bonus.... read more

I set up a guys fishing trip for my husband's birthday. They were very helpful in answering all my questions. They were 8 guys on the angler V. The weather wasn't great but they said they dodged most of the rain clouds. They stayed within the western region of the Long Island sound. They caught several fish: porgy, fluke, sea robin. The boat was larger than they expected, they loved it. When it rained they stood under the covered area on the boat. While the waters were a bit cold and we didnt get alot of bites, we had a wonderful time. The staff was helpful and very informative. My mother is in her late 60s and they took their time explaining how to use the rod and readjusted her rod as needed. Phil was the best.
