As i chatted up the man behind the bar...it begged the ?...you the owner? Or brewer? The absolutely delightful Brian is both!! We talked over the tap list and settled on a flight of four: Pencil Thin Mustache midwest IPA, Coral Reefer hemp PA, Saint Somewhere Oatmeal stout & Nike Fest marzen. All were delicious, even the IPA & PA, which arent my preferred styles. I later tried the Great Heart irish red that Brian said was more red than Irish but my palate liked it. On the way to the bathroom i passed by a shuffleboard table, foosball & heeey there's a small bar in front of the brew house! It wasnt nutty busy for a party, but i got there @ open so, the calm. Gravity Storm isnt just a brewery, it is definitely an experience. I liked that despite sitting @ the bar...w an empty glass, i didnt feel pressured to order another beer right away, id driven 100 miles i wasnt looking to slam beers & move on. Was funny...cute...i told Brian i was going to the bathroom & i would bd back. Came back to see he had put a coaster over my partially drank beer. Brian had slipped away from behind the bar and his wife was slanging, also a friendly gal, apologies i never got her name. She handled everyone like a true champ. Helpful hint: do not try to yell over to Pam, or staff from the other end of the bar if they're standing @ the south end of the bar, I couldn't hear it running but Pam would come over to me because she couldn't hear over the ice machine. Sorry. Upon glancing around I saw a $12 t-shirt rack, I din't ask if that was regular price or sale? I APPRECIATED that the shirts were: a 4X, 3X, two 2X and four smalls. Most brewery sale shirts are S or XS. I also purchased a sticker. \Molly did mention that the brewing was done downstairs where they also have a meeting room. There is an upstairs, however it's not available for use yet, it has to get up to code. I did notice they have an elevator! Service was fast, they have a nice dog friendly patio, but their food and beer was mediocre. Maybe I'm spoiled with all of the great breweries in Minneapolis, but I just didn't really like my beer! My sandwich was pretty good, and my boyfriends quinoa bowl was fine but he said it had no seasoning. All in all, probably won't go back but it wasn't a terrible experience.

They are on a 5 barrel system from Portland Kettle Works which allows for both experimentation and some staple beers. Beertender choice in my flight was the Hugs & Kisses Fruited Wheat Ale - which I won't complain about. Thesis Pieces: A Blonde Ale brewed with Peanut Butter and has an addition of Lactose. Light bodied, which you don't see for a peanut beer very often. Doughy malt and a nutty flavor go hand in hand balanced by a sweetness from the lactose. A PB beer you can drink even in the hottest weather! Toasty-Weizen A German Hefeweizen conditioned on freshly toasted coconut. Similar to my other choices, light bodied packed with flavor. Traditional banana and clove Hefeweizen flavors are balanced by a medium toasted coconut flavor that doesn't take over the Hefe aromas / flavors.  Bangers Only: A Cold IPA dry hopped with Rakau, Vic Secret, and Wakatu hops. A lighter bodied IPA and brilliantly clear. Medium-high bitterness with a melon / lemon zest flavor on finish. Hugs and Kisses: A Fruited Wheat Ale that the beertender chose as my fourth beer in my flight. Notes of guava, tangerine, and blood orange. Medium body with just a hint of acidity, but mostly on the fruity side. Enjoyable on the patio! _____________________
