Stumbled onto this place while passing through Kearney and honestly... great find. Right on hotel row, easy parking, and way cooler inside than I expected. Simple, clean, and someone clearly paid attention to the little details. I weirdly loved the salt and pepper shakers. Service was fantastic . Our waitress knew her stuff, answered everything without hesitation, and actually checked in like she cared. She made sure all our needs were met which deserves credit. The chicken bites were solid, though I would've liked a few more veggies. The burgers? No notes. I went with the super hot and it actually brought heat, not just menu-heat. Angus had great reviews, and I had high hopes for our one night in Kearney. It was very slow to get seated, seemed like there was only one busser for a very busy Friday night before Valentine's, and tables were left uncleared for a long time. Once seated, service was a bit quicker until it came time for the shake. The burgers were good, pink in the middle so ask for well done if you don't want that. Not sure what happened with the water, but when they refilled my cup, it smelled and tasted like bleach/cleaner. It took a long time to get a shake - I ordered a mint chocolate chip - and it was very disappointing. Thin and runny, tasted like mint flavored milk and not like it was mostly ice cream at all. I don't even drink more than half, and I am not one to leave ice cream behind. We asked the waiter if that's what the shakes are normally like at Angus, and he said "I don't know what the shake maker did". My coworker asked if I wanted another one, but given how the waiter didn't seem to know what it was supposed to be like, I declined. So enjoy a burger, but don't waste your money on an $8 glass of milk. read more

Very open and clean brew pub atmosphere, which we enjoyed. Our server seemed to be the manager or owner and she was great. She was friendly, helpful and attentive. In fact, she warned us we had ordered too much food! She was correct! Drink prices for beers and cocktails were very reasonable. My wife had the Crispy Cauliflower ($14) and the Pork Belly Burnt Ends ($14). Either one would have been a meal for 1 person. The Crispy Cauliflower was our favorite. It was lightly breaded/dusted and fried (perfectly fried I might add), and you get your choice of sauce toppings (Spicy Buffalo or Sweet Chili). We went with the Sweet Chili and it was very good. I wish we had asked to have the sauce on the side as it was great without sauce. The Pork Belly Burnt Ends are not Burnt Ends, but they were not bad (a tad dry). More like pulled pork with the crusty top of the pulled pork in my opinion. They sat on a mound of crispy waffle fries sandwiched between them and cole slaw. The Cole Slaw was very good, as were the fries. However, we probably would not order the pork again (regardless of the name). I had the Rancher Burger with American vs. Cheddar cheese. It was excellent and not too filling actually. It comes with their homemade fries and they were delicous. I definitely recommend both. Found this place while driving cross the Midwest. Excellent burgers and shakes. Fresh beef cooked to order. Both of our burgers were juicy and delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. We were able to sit outside on a beautiful early September evening. Lots of milkshake choices, and I don't think you could make a bad choice. We saw this restaurant across from our hotel and decide we should give it a try. We had one person in our group who is a vegetarian and saw this restaurant had impossible meat and was excited about your options. The burgers were good, nothing too extra about them. The service was also great, and the place was clean and open. The only issue was $7 extra for an impossible burger patty on a $15-18 burger. Like really? Your burgers are already over priced and I have to pay $7 for a vegetarian option!!! I have traveled all around the US and never seen $7 for a vegetarian option. Fun stop in Kearney! Great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Unique burgers all sounded delicious and while they were good, I would say a bit overpriced. You're looking at around $15 for a burger/fries, add another $3 for a Gluten Free Bun. I had the Pittsburgh burger with GF Bun ($18.75). Great flavor! Fries were homemade and delicious. They do have a separate GF frier. My husband had the Jalapeño Popper Burger and he said it was just ok (he's a big burger connoisseur)!! Great stop right off the interstate in Kearney and near all the hotels. Wow. The churro milkshake, I'll be dreaming about eating that churro until we return. The crab Rangoon fries were a win, most places are either great or miss, and this was a GREAT one! I had the GOAT burger and wow, they loaded it with goat cheese so I really tasted all the flavors. I almost asked for the peppers off but I'm so happy I didn't, they really added an additional flavor to the burger that pulled it all together. I upgraded for $4 to the sweet potato tots. Angus Burgers and Shakes offers burgers that are typically loaded to the max with different ingredients. It's a good place if you want a burger with tons of toppings (most of which are pretty traditional). Angus Burgers kind of reminded me of Honest Abes in Lincoln (though AH does not load up their toppings as much, has more non traditional ingredients, and is better). Good: -The Knock Off: Fairly basic burger with all of the normal toppings. I think these are pretty good tests of a burger joint and Angus Burgers passed. The burger was a solid medium well and this was well done. -Masa waffle fries had great texture and flavor. They were well seasoned and there was not an overwhelming amount of salt. -Good service, clean atmosphere with TVs for football, fast food coming out on a Monday night. Ok/Bad: -Nebraska Farmer Burger was just alright. I guess you can knock me for ordering a burger with lots of ingredients and then complaining about how many ingredients are on there, but that's kind of what happened. This burger is simply too busy and I would personally take off the hashbrowns, as it was hard to notice them. The onion ring, while a nice touch, was also hard to taste. I think putting the onion ring on top of the burger or something might help a bit from a textural standpoint; you should generally want the crunch of the onion ring to help. For this burger, it was all mashed and soggy and disappeared. Overall, this was a very rich burger but I think I would try another one next time. I had a tough time tasting everything. -Shake: The cookies and cream shake was tasty but nothing special. You could get a similar one at DQ for half the price. $5 value wise for a tiny shake wasn't worth it and I was disappointed with this one given 'shakes' are in the restaurant name. -Value was pretty poor. This is a higher end burger joint and I'm not sure if the price to product ratio is quite there. A burger, side, and drink will likely cost you about $16-$18 per person; quite the pricey meal for a burger. I'd appreciate it if the sides were larger, the shake was larger, or a side came with the burger. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Angus Burgers and Shakes but I'm not sure if I would go back. Again, the value wasn't quite there for me despite the flavors being reasonable and service being good. read more

We stopped by on a road trip because we saw the menu and the reviews. Unfortunately it was pretty overpriced and we did not have good customer service (too bad Katie was not our waiter). The food came out cold/not hot and the burnt ends appetizer was disappointing. The egg on the burger was fully cooked (not over easy - I have had better at McDonald's.) However, the walking taco burger was "perfection" according to my kid. All menu items were a la carte - no combo deals - so it got pricey faster. In their defense, I hear that they were short staffed and working double shifts. I know the restaurant business is having a hard time. The burgers were generally pretty good, but not the hype we saw online. Also, the king shake was 95% peanut butter and 5% banana. But the birthday cake shake was apparently amazing. read more

Fantastic dinner location! I loved my whole meal! I ordered the fish and chips plus a peanut butter cup shake. I wish my fish had drained a little bit more of the grease but it was delicious with a little added salt. The fries were not in short supply and they were so good! I also enjoyed my shake. My husband had the spicy burger with fries and the coffee and donut shake. He ate his food happily but wasn't as in love with his shake because there wasnt as much coffee as he would have liked. I took one bite of my burger and immediately started thinking about my review of this restaurant. I had the 3 little pigs burger which had pork burnt ends on top of an angus burger. It was probably in my top three burgers of all time. Fries and shake were also terrific. But seriously, that burger was amazing. If you are driving through on Hwy 80 (or anywhere close) you owe it to yourself to stop in here. You won't regret it. Also my waiter JJ was terrific!
