Wonderful experience. Highly recommend spending an afternoon learning the art of pottery making. The owner was great, very welcoming. We really enjoyed the class. Parking was easy. Scheduling was also easy. Highly recommended!

It's never too late to bring out that LOVE that you have (or once had) for ART! I went to art school many moons ago, and I forgot how creating something ... anything with my HANDS brought me so much JOY! So if you live in South Miami, you probably pass this place every day on your morning commute. The kids actually found Anhinga Clay Studios online and chose this for their Father's Day gift! Our whole family did a class, and our instructor was AMAZING-- it wasn't as easy as he made it look, but we got better at wheel pottery each try. Word of advice to the ladies-- cut your nails before you go! We created (3) pieces each, and had a blast! You can pick the glaze and they fire it for you. The time we spent was priceless!! I highly recommend this studio.

My partner brought me here for a 2hr pottery class. I was excited to try making pottery for the first time. We showed up a bit early and waited a few minutes until the time. It was 5 of us in the class but I think you can have about 7 in total. The 2 hr class is $50 per person which seemed like a good price for the experience. We were given aprons, they were quite stained with both new and old clay stains but it must be part of the charm. The instructor gave some brief instructions on what we would be doing. I did feel some things were not very clear. He was responsive whenever I asked for clarity which was good but I think they could work on the instructions given to beginners. He was still very kind with the class and helpful when we had any questions. We made 3 pieces and could keep one for free and if we wanted more than one it would be $5. I thought that was a fair price. You pick up the pieces 2 weeks after your class. I really enjoyed this pottery experience and recommend it to anyone who is wanting to try their hand at pottery. Their studio is very nice and so is the staff. Definitely an experience to remember!

I've only taken two classes here, but it's much better than the one I took in wynwood. The teachers go step by step and you're guaranteed to walk out with a piece. In my second class I could see a big improvement in myself. I love it and I'll keep coming back!

Came in here for a one-time pottery class with my wife and stepson. It's very near Tropical Park in a warehouse type district. Easy to find. On to the class itself - we spent a good two hours learning the basics. We were a group of six allowed in the studio and it felt safe. The experience was educational, hands on, fun and a little zen. Our instructor was really attentive, knowledgeable and made sure everyone was having a good experience. We ended up molding three different pots out of clay. The machine was fun to operate, as is the shaping process itself. After all was said and done, we pick our favorite of the three we made and decorate it. Within two weeks it will be fired in the kiln and be ready for pickup. I'm looking forward to adding my handmade Koi snack bowl to my collection! All in all a good time and recommended you try at least once. We would all do it again.

LOVE Anhinga! This is the absolute BEST pottery studio in all of Miami. Once you come here once, you'll be hooked! Everyone is so nice and helpful. Lots of first timers and advanced people. Gus is the owner of the studio and I love his Saturday class. He's so helpful and knowledgable. Everyone in my Saturday class has become like my second family The price is the best you'll find - they're not nickel and diming like other studios on firing. I highly recommend to anyone just starting or highly experienced in pottery.

My wife really wanted to go and we got a class. The instructor was very knowledgeable and patient. It was our first time and he took the time to show us. Our instructors name was Osmany, he was Bi lingual and I definitely recommend this place to anyone. He also asked for our phones in order to take pictures and videos of us. We will definitely be back!

BEST POTTERY STUDIO IN MIAMI!!! Gus and all of the instructors are great! The studio is clean, always has chill music playing, and you can't beat the prices for everything you get.

So much fun! It was a little much for those who do t like to get their hands dirty or have sensory issues. We pushed through and had a blast at the wheel classes. Our instructor was patient and wonderful. Mistakes were made but with three attempts we all had something to be proud of to keep. I can't wait to pick up our finished pieces. Perfect for date night or family fun.

I am disappointed with how the owner handled my party on Feb.26th. I reserved the class for my birthday, and we were all very excited to do something different. Gus was really nice on the phone when reserving and we paid upfront for the 2 hour class ($350 then an additional $50 for another person) On the site it asks for 50% deposit but we were happy to give the full amount. Unfortunately, two of my friends got covid right before the class and my grandfather was in the hospital the same day. Half of the party was family so we had to miss out but the ones who could have made it wanted to reschedule the class since I could not attend. Gus was really rude on the phone, especially being a small business and for us being new to his studio should have handled it differently. He asked for the death certificate to prove that my grandfather passed away. What company asks for that and how extremely insensitive for someone who lost a grandparent. we were not asking for a refund but to reschedule the class. Since my friends had that encounter, and Gus said he could not reschedule, they went to the studio. When they got there, the doors were closed and when they called, Gus said they can do the class but "would have to wait however long it took for the teacher to get there" For being a small business, it was the worst way to handle this situation. Yes it was the same day but we can't plan tragedies that happen to us. And again, we were not asking for a refund, but to reschedule. My friend Jessica left a review saying it was my grandmother who was sick but it was my grandfather. My grandmother passed just 3 months prior to my grandfather so for a business asking for a customer's grandfathers "death certificate" is extremely unprofessional. We will never do business with this place again.

First of all, I want to say that I'm giving this place two stars and not one because it is a…read morenonprofit and I respect that they offer low cost art classes. However, I don't appreciate the way I was treated here and I was not satisfied with the instruction I received. 1) There was a bad storm one day and my teacher called me to tell me that class was canceled. Later, the owner blamed the missed class on me and said that because "I" didn't show up then I couldn't make the class up or get a refund. Eventually, she told me that I could make it up, which is fine. But I didn't appreciate being told that I was at fault for missing the class when my teacher was the one who canceled it. 2) My teacher was impossible to contact. He didn't have a cell phone and then blamed students for not contacting him. 3) My teacher was a nice guy but I could barely understand him and he could barely understand me. He would get frustrated with me for not understanding his English. I am from the Miami area and should speak Spanish but unfortunately I don't. It doesn't matter though because this place is supposed to be bilingual. 3) My teacher never really taught me how to draw, and as early as the first class he had me doing pastels. I felt like I never really got any real instruction. A lot of it was just trial and error and trying to guess what he wanted me to do. I wasn't ready to move onto pastels because I hadn't learned to draw yet, but drawing instruction stopped after the first class. 4) Payment: payment time was not clear, and when I did not pay on time (due to the canceled class), the owner got nasty with me, but I had no idea when the payment was due in the first place because no one told me. I wasn't evading the payment but she acted as if I was. 5) I switched teachers and classes. When I went to the new class, the new teacher looked at my pastel work and said "You will get better after time", threw a landscape magazine with work that was way too difficult for me, then walked away to attend to someone else leaving me without any instruction for over 20 minutes. I was just sitting there without anything to do waiting for him so I walked out. 6) Before I walked out, I called the owner who told me that I could not get a refund for the classes even though I didn't take any of them. I am in an emergency situation which is why I had to stop attending classes and leave South Florida, but she was not sympathetic to my situation at all and I ended up losing $90. I'd rather spend more money to get quality instruction and better treatment somewhere else.

I have been to many painting parties and every event seems to be hurried and the painting is usually predetermined. Not that it is a bad concept but this one has many options to choose from. There are many painting on the wall, painted by the artist on hand, you can choose one of those, you can bring one or design as you go. The great thing is if you come in a group or party not everyone walks out with the same painting or even canvas! Ivette helped me every step of the way. I had an idea and she was able to bring it to life from my blank canvas to an extraordinary piece I am really proud of!! She had a room full of budding artist she was helping yet she showed patience, compassion and her talent as an artist flowed with each person in the room.
