Animal Alliance NJ saved my dog's life! To give you a little background, Yuma, my 9-year old German Shepherd, went from fetching sticks, chasing tennis balls, and enjoying long walks at the park to becoming extremely lethargic, bloated, and nearly unable to walk all within a time frame of about 36-hours. I rushed her to the local veterinary hospital where she was quickly diagnosed with a pyometra.The vet stressed that it was a life-threatening infection and that she needed an emergency surgery. The cost of the surgery: $4,400 - and twice that if her uterus ruptured. Unable to afford the costly surgery, the vet prescribed me three days worth of Baytril and said, "This might buy you a few days, but you really need to find a place and get her that surgery today." I called every animal hospital in the book. But, it was Friday, and they were either too busy or too expensive. Discouraged, yet not defeated, I turned to the internet to learn more about a pyometra and the possibility of an alternative treatment. I researched for hours and hours - and, with the exception of a Vitamin C, Manuka honey, and Turmeric natural healing concoction, all signs pointed toward either emergency surgery or certain death. I didn't find the alternatives I had hoped for, but the online forums and discussions about pyometra eventually led me to the Animal Alliance NJ. Finding their website immediately lifted my spirits. I couldn't have been happier to read on their website that they not only perform the pyometra surgery, but they do it at a fraction of the price of any of the animal hospitals I spoke to. The only dilemma was that it was Friday, and they only schedule surgeries on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Feeling strapped for time, I continued to search for other affordable options throughout. There was nothing. The good news: Yuma's condition had improved thanks to the antibiotics (and maybe in part by the Vitamin C, Manuka honey, and Turmeric concoction. Yeah, I tried it.). By the time Tuesday came around, however, I could tell the meds and the concoction had done all they could do. Yuma's condition began to quickly deteriorate again - and that's when I got the call from Anne at the Animal Alliance NJ. She told me everything I needed to know about the surgery and promptly scheduled Yuma to come in for the procedure the next morning. Anne, Dr. Holland (the vet), and the rest of the wonderful volunteers couldn't be more welcoming when we arrived. Their compassion and caring toward Yuma and her situation immediately put me at ease. I didn't even tear up like I thought I would as I handed her leash over. I just knew Yuma was in good hands. I was still a bag of nerves as I waited, though. In particular because I knew it was a risky surgery due to Yuma's advanced age and the amount of time her infection had gone on without proper treatment. Anne kept me posted on Yuma's condition throughout the day, however -- and Dr. Holland gave me a post-surgery status report too. As it turned out, Yuma's uterus ruptured at some point before surgery. It could have been devastating, but thanks to Dr. Holland's skill and experience, she was able to mitigate the crisis and keep Yuma on course toward a successful recovery. There was no extra charge for the rupture, by the way. Even after all she'd been through with infections, ruptures, and surgery - at 4 PM, Yuma was already awake, happy to see me, and ready for the long ride home. Some people have said that it's a "miracle" that Yuma is with me today. "It's not just a miracle," I respond. "The miracle workers at Animal Alliance NJ are the reason why Yuma is still with me today." I can't thank them enough! read more

Animal Alliance is an outstanding rescue, a network of kind-hearted, compassionate people who work together to save and enrich countless lives.   I am a life-long animal lover and have known of this amazing rescue for over 15 years.  I have adopted and fostered pets, utilized the services of the low-cost spay/neuter clinic, referred many friends and family members for the same, and have been an active volunteer for the past 7 years.  I have spent time helping in the shelter, walking/socializing dogs and participated in off-site adoption events and fundraising events.  Along with interacting with other volunteers, I have gotten to know shelter staff and administration and have seen the excellent care that these animals receive as they await their forever homes.  The staff are caring, energetic individuals who make sure the animals are healthy, happy and comfortable.  I have seen firsthand how Animal Alliance restores animals who have been abandoned, neglected and abused to health (both physically and emotionally) and finds these animals the best forever homes.  I have gotten to know Annie Trinkle, the founder & Executive Director of Animal Alliance and it is clear where the altruistic values and goals of this rescue originated.  She is a strong, tireless and selfless individual who has devoted her life to saving, caring for and rehabilitating displaced/unwanted/mistreated animals.  She works night and day (literally) to make sure Animal Alliance continues on its mission and maintains momentum in rescuing more and more animals from desperate situations.  Through my observations and involvement with various aspects of this shelter, I can say firsthand that Animal Alliance is heart coupled with tenacity, with lots of hard work and dedication behind the scenes.  I highly recommend this agency to anyone looking to adopt or foster a pet or volunteer their time for a meaningful and rewarding cause. read more

I can't say enough about animal alliance or how grateful I truly am for this organization and the kind, dedicated people who work and volunteer here! My daughter brought home a kitten who soon after became pregnant with her own kittens. We weren't able to find good enough homes for the first litter and before we knew it she brought home a second litter- I suddenly had 8 cats. I am a single mother on a limited income and I was quickly overwhelmed by the cost of food, and litter yet I still fell in love with all my little fur babies. My landlord was not so pleased and threatened to evict. I had no choice but to try to quickly adopt all my babies out at once. It was heartbreaking to be forced to part with them and I was having a horrible time getting help UNTIL I reached out to animal alliance. Not only did they spay, neuter, deworm and vaccinate all my cats and kittens for an extremely low price, they also offered to make sure that they would all got adopted. It was heartbreaking to part with my pets but I had no choice but to trust the professionals and I am so glad I did! That was just last week and already they've all been adopted. I couldn't be more relieved and grateful for animal alliance and their services. Also the Vet there was extremely helpful and has kept in close contact with me keeping me updated on the cats throughout the last week they've been gone which she didn't have to do once I surrendered the cats but because she is compassionate and understands my sad predicament she gave me peace of mind and helped rest my weary heart by keeping me in the loop. This place is a Godsend. I don't know what I would do without Annie and her team at Animal Alliance. I've adopted 2 dogs from them and would definitely go there again. Annie has the ability to match you up with the perfect pet. We went to see a dog that they had posted on their website and were disappointed that it didn't look like he'd be the dog for us. Annie told us not to worry-she had a dog in mind that might be a perfect fit for our family. She went into the back and brought out the cutest dog I've ever seen and had us interact with her and it was love at first sight. We have been nothing but happy with both dogs adopted from there and it's very reassuring to know if we did have any issues with our pets that they were there to help us. I've also received exceptional help and guidance from them when I've come across feral cats that needed attention. Through their low cost spay and neuter clinic I've been able to get 9 cats trapped , blood tested, vaccinated, ear tipped if necessary and either released or rehomed. Try to find another place that will help you like that ! And it didn't break my bank account. Any trapping advice/tips I needed were given to me and now I'm confidently rescuing cats myself and thanks to them I can say I've helped prevent future feral cat pregnancies.....Yay !!! It's a great feeling to know you've saved a cat or dog and because of their help I get to experience it. Even though they can't personally go out and trap cats for people they had no problem helping me learn how to do it myself and that's invaluable to me. Wonderful place....wonderful people. All pet rescues have a soft place in my heart, but Animal Alliance of Lambertville, NJ is a pet rescue above all the rest. They spend countless hours finding & saving animals who need them the most. They will give them love and compassion whether it's their last moments or beginning of a new life. My puppy was very sick upon arrival to Animal Alliance. They rushed her to vet immediately because they did not not know if she was going to make it. She was the size of a small cantaloupe! She was undernourished, dehydrated, had an upper respiratory infection and was riddled with mange. They spent countless hours tending to her needs as if she was the only dog! As we all know there were many more receiving the same wonderful care by the Animal Alliance staff! They saved her & in return my life is filled with joy because she is my fur-ever fur baby! She was up to date on all of her shots & was neutered. This is customary for all of their rescues because they believe in doing right by the animal. They also care even after an animal has been adopted. They truly want what is best for every animal that crosses their path for life! For this I am forever grateful! I love my fur baby & love the support Animal Alliance has given me. If you are looking for a fur baby please look them up. Trust me it will be worth it! They are located in Lambertville, New Jersey. They will even come to you for a visit to see if a love connection is made! Wish I could give a lower rating! The woman Anne who runs the place is a complete lunatic. Went there to adopt a puppy and was really surprised by the experience. Aside from her insane rules.....the woman came out to my car and tossed the puppy to me! Then said where's the check. Ok can over look all of that. The second day we had this baby he began coughing and wheezing. He had kennel cough! (And a raging case of worms)She never said anything! When I called them to tell them how sick he was and to see if any of the other dogs were sick I was told it's only kennel cough it's not a big deal. She also went on to say no other animals were sick. If you know anything about kennel cough you know it spreads like wildfire! She also took all of the other puppies off the website. After much back and forth over 3 weeks with the volunteers ...... My boyfriend took over. This Anne woman screamed at him for asking to be reimbursed for medication! She didn't know who she was yelling at because he blasted her! They went back and forth this escalated to her getting ready to call the cops to take my dog back! Not to mention the puppy was advertised as a girl and we weren't told till we were on our way there that he was a boy!! Complete insanity! She is by far the craziest person I've ever dealt with! Do NOT ever deal with Animal Alliance there are plenty of other far nicer places to go to!! read more

We adopted our pup Cooper (previously Sage) from the Animal Alliance of Lambertville. The volunteers at the adoption day, held at Rutgers Nursery, were very informative and it was great to see their commitment to these homeless animals. The facility provides a home for many dogs and cats with varied backgrounds and what I found amazing was that with the volume of care in front of them, the people who give their time to this org take the time to train puppies or try to rehabilitate animals who have had tough experiences. Our families newest addition came to us at just 4 mo's old and virtually potty trained, he's a fairly good walker (leash training in progress) and best of all, he's a happy&healthy pup. I could tell a lot about Coop's experience when I returned to the adoption site 2xs and his tail wagged (even before and after receiving a shot & being neutered). I would recommend any person or family who is looking to adopt or support an operation like this, to consider this facility. The team are knowledgeable and dedicated. People who use their services should keep in mind that the shelter is run on compassion and is not a profit center - these people dispite busy lives, are devoting their skill, time and love to these animals. Do your homework, ask questions, read the literature provided and remember the staff are efficient, kind but BUSY, this is not a luxury resort. read more

My husband and I were looking to adopt a dog, and contacted Animal Alliance to look at one that we had spotted on Petfinder.com. When that dog did not prove to be right for us, they introduced us to several other dogs. One of them was exactly what we were looking for, but we wanted to make sure that there really was a connection. Annie encouraged us to take the dog home as a foster and see. We quickly fell in love with this wonderful little dog -- but we were concerned about a possible problem with her eyes, as they looked a bit discolored. We took her to our vet who confirmed that there was some damage; he recommended we consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist. Annie referred us to a specialist whom we consulted, with Animal Alliance footing the bill. The veterinary ophthalmologist assured us that the damage was not serious and would not affect the dog's long-term health. She is now officially ours, and very much a beloved member of the family. We were very impressed with Annie's professionalism and her obvious devotion to the animals in her care. We felt like she really wanted to help us find the right dog for us - not to mention making sure we would provide a safe and loving home for our adopted pet. The fact that she does all this wonderful work as a volunteer is most impressive. read more

I am most grateful for and love Animal Alliance. I adopted my first dog from them ten years ago, and she is a love. She had to have her leg amputated, and Animal Alliance helped with the procedure for which I was most grateful. We adopted a second dog from them a year later who is also a sweetheart. We also fostered a senior dog that we ended up adopting as a third dog. This sweet dog had many health issues when we began looking after him, and Animal Alliance assisted with hospice and medical care for him until the very end. My girlfriend just adopted a dog this weekend, and the process was smooth and quick and Anne Trinkle was very helpful and generous in supporting her puppy adoption. Over the years, I have both volunteered for Animal Alliance and donated to them. I believe in their work wholeheartedly. As someone who has adopted, fostered, and volunteered, I cannot sing enough praises for Anne Trinkle, the other staff, and the affiliated veterinarians who volunteer their time. I have adopted, fostered, and volunteered with three other adoption agencies in the area (NJ and PA), and no one is as attentive, generous, and kindhearted as Animal Alliance of New Jersey. read more

After a long period of contemplation, we decided to get a puppy for our young son for his fourth birthday. Animal alliance was wonderful to work with. Annie and her staff were supportive, prompt in their responses to us and helpful while we selected a pup that was a good fit for us. Their adoption fee included things like a starter bag of food if we needed it, a harness, crate, etc.! We had a great deal of difficulty getting this particular puppy to sleep through the night and they were right there again, with decades of experience they helped us navigate all options to help our little pup. In the end, some health issues (human) complicated us keeping the dog. During the process in deciding it wasn't the right time and fit, there was no sense of shame, guilt or difficulty. The support in returning our pup was as seamless as adopting her. They even unexpectedly refunded our adoption fee! It wasn't the right time for us, and perhaps not the right pup, but if/when we decide to undertake a journey to getting a new dog again, we will surely use Animal Alliance as their support, compassion and mission are to be supported and celebrated. read more

I am so happy we listened to our dogs' vet and called Animal Alliance to schedule an appointment to get our 9 year old Yorkiepoo spayed. Our dog Ellie is having a lot of behavioral issues, and we were told that getting her spayed could help improve her behavior. Her vet had often told us to get her and her sister spayed to avoid health problems, but we never did, so I was definitely concerned that I would be seen as a bad pet parent when I called. I was so relieved to find that everyone I talked to at Animal Alliance was kind, friendly and understanding. We were so lucky to get an appointment the next day to get both dogs spayed. We were lucky especially because when they were doing the surgery, they found that Ellie had early signs of a potentially life threatening uterine infection. After the surgeries, they sent us home with everything our dogs needed: pain killers, antibiotics for Ellie, and very clear post-surgical instructions (that were more informative that any we have received for any of our own surgeries). We are truly grateful to the Animal Alliance staff and volunteers for all they have done for our dogs. read more

I have known Animal Alliance NJ for MANY years, on MANY different levels and interactions from volunteering, to donating, to adopting my two amazing dogs. There are many people who just don't understand the rescue world of animals. Looking to adopt is NOT like buying a pair of shoes. You need to rely on professionals who's main purpose is to take care of the animals with top notch vets, advocate for proper neutering and spaying, offering options for low cost vet care to keep pets and people together. Animal Alliance does all this and more. If anyone who has the nerve to write unkind and awful comments could know the banged up, beat up and otherwise unloved animals (many scheduled for euthanasia from other shelters) that AA takes on to rehabilitate and help find loving homes, you're heads would pop off and your hearts would perhaps get a little bigger. Walk a day in the big, loving shoes of the people, many volunteers, who work at Animal Alliance and then, perhaps, you might just keep your unkind whining comments to yourselves. read more

Back on 10/1 I adopted Bella (formerly known as Suzanna) from Animal Alliance. It all started two weeks before that when I met some of their volunteers at an adoption event. Everyone was so friendly and Kathryn took the time to bring me to their website to show me all of the available dogs that fit the description I was looking for. I submitted my application for Bella and heard back 3 or 4 days later and set up a time to go meet her. I met with Annie who brought Bella outside to me and gave me the opportunity to walk with her. After about 15 or 20 minutes she was jumping in my lap and laid in my arms perfectly still while Annie gave her the last shots she needed. Annie gave me everything I needed to get started with Bella and went over her schedule as far as heartworm and flea and tick medicine. Then I was on my way! I couldn't be happier - Bella is a blessing and a joy and in the short 11 days I've had her she has filled my heart! I am so grateful to have her and so thankful to Animal Alliance! read more

Was planning to give a donation to help them so I stopped by to see if they were worthy of a donation. I was greeted with panic looks as to why are you here? I explained that I wanted to look the place over prior to making a donation. And was told you can't just drop in you need an appointment. So I asked if I could make an appointment? Response: Why do you need an appointment? To see if your operation was worthy of a donation? NO you we don't need that and you can't make an appointment. Wow the website looks like a great operation but there public relations is seriously lacking. OH well not going to waste time trying to help a group that is not open to observation. They offer low cost pet care but again really need to work on PR. Also note I had my dog in the car so they knew I was a pet owner. So, I asked my neighbors in Lambertville what's up with Animal Alliance? And have been told that they are not very friendly. So that is here say but obviously a general consensus. read more

When our dog Sasha was diagnosed with Pyometra in February 2018, our vet quoted us $2800-$3800 for the surgery she needed to save her life. We were distraught because that figure was so overwhelming to us. I jumped on the computer and searched "low cost spay and neuter clinic pyometra" and Animal Alliance popped right up. We were very hopeful and called right away. Annie called us back the very next morning and we were in the following day for surgery, 4-5 times LESS cost than the original quoted surgery from our vet. Annie is very matter of fact and tells you like it is. She is very good at what she does and we also received 2 calls from her to see how our dog was recovering. As sick as Sasha was at the time of surgery, it was successful and after 2 weeks of pampering, special treats (chicken breast) and refrained activity, our dog Sasha is back to her same old self. We owe everything to this clinic and highly, highly recommend them!!! read more

I rescued a dog from animal alliance 16yrs ago. His name was Rodney but I changed it to Tyler (bcuz we walked at tyler state park). He was the best dog I ever had (and I have had several dogs). I had to have him put down for health reasons at 17yrs old. After a yr went by I was ready for another dog. I searched animal alliance again for months and finally saw a dog named RayLynn. She looked just like Tyler so I had to had to have her. I applied for RayLynn and Nancy contacted me and I went to meet her. She was very shy and a bit scared. But once I got her home it was like I had a female version of Tyler. She had all his mannerisms and soon took over my house. She was so easy to train and is now my pride and joy! If anyone needs or wants to rescue, I would advise them to contact animal alliance. I am 58yrs old and in the last 17yrs I have rescued 2 dogs from animal alliance and they have been the best dogs I have ever had. Mark Shelkey. read more

Animal Alliance is an amazing group of volunteers who steadfastly work to save the lives of the dogs and cats who come through the doors of their rescue. Not only is their application process quick and easy, unlike MANY other rescues, Diane and Annie are great communicators who really care not only about the animals, but also about the people who are adopting. They are sincereand compassionate. The animals receive excellent veterinary care, far surpassing all others rescues and shelters I have encountered. I've been very impressed by my interactions with Animal Alliance and have been encouraged by director, Annie Trinkle, who is a lovely person. Annie is knowledgeable about dog behavior, ailments, and breeds...she's the Wonder Woman of dog rescue. If, Animal Alliance receives a dog that works for me, I will drive from Pennsylvania to pick her up because that's how much I believe in this rescue. read more

Recently adopted a wonderful puppy from Animal Alliance. We were anxiious to get a puppy after losing our 11 year old Doberman in August 2020. l found a puppy on Petfinder and immediately sent my application in. Was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Diane less than a week later. She was very helpful and courteous to me and explained the adoption process and we made an appointment to see the puppy. After seeing the puppy we took her home. We are ecstatic with the puppy, she is so loveable, energetic and everything we missed in not having our Doberman with us anymore. An added plus was she was already spayed and has a microchip. The whole process took less than two weeks, which compared with other organizations was very fast.
