When I asked for more assistance she denied my request. I was directed to an ER when it was not appropriate. I called back and spoke to a different person to collect information to take to another vet. I explained why I needed the information and was told to come over immediately. While in the office I told Dr.Patel my experience and he let me know that person would be fired immediately. As a long time patient at Woodbourne I knew this was not the way they handle their clients. I'm very grateful to be able to continue my care here and hope that this issue is resolved and will no longer be a problem for other families looking for care for their pets.

For 16 years Bella was fairly healthy and usually only went for yearly exams and occasional allergies. Bella started getting small growths on her small body. A couple had mushroomed in a bed location and would bust open and bleed. Recently during her wellness one of these were on her hind leg and affecting her walking. One week ago we put her in doctor patrols care for removal alongng with one more small growth on her side. What we got back was an aging dog that had been butchered with a total of 12 cuts and sutures on a small body. Just naproxen for pain and antibiotics. Well the 10 on her back started to pull from the stitches. He took her back and restitched her under a local. Two days later again this time preformed a medical scrub ( so painful that she could barely move) again under local anesthesia. That was not even a week. By that night Bella was having breathing difficulties and was in excruciating pain. We took her to blue pearl emergency ( amazing, caring facility). Within 24 hours we had to put Bella down Dr. Patel preformed unnecessary, unauthorized additional surgery that made Bella's last days agony. DI NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS BUTCHER!

Dr Graham, our favorite vet , once again explained everything thoroughly and took about an hour of his day going over possible causes options for treatment. Didn't like that. 1/2 later the doctor spoke to us about his condition. I don't feel like he explained everything to us well. That there are meds the cat could have taken. He had no personality and didn't have an optimistic demeanor. Everything was presented like it wasn't worth the trouble. We asked questions but he didn't offer positive solutions. He made it sound like if you do this you will need to keep the cat here for three days, see a cardiologist, then he'd be on three meds a day. The groups I belong to are wondering "why we didn't fight harder" and my only answer is the vet gave up on us and on the cat. There was no: "here's what we can do, let's try this!" The demeanor was he's doomed, don't waste your time. We did the best we could to feel confidence in him, but we don't think he was the right person to handle our cat. Maybe someone that was more proactive, motivated and didn't leave such a feeling of doubt in us as we walked away empty handed would have been a better experience. Also compounding this with a $1,200 invoice as we walked away without our beloved baby. All of it a terrible experience. The only saving grace was the young lady who handled the paperwork. I wonder what other pet owners think of that doctor.

The nurse who did intake was a little judgmental and got me a bit nervous that this would be an expensive visit that would require surgery, citing her own dog's recent injury to the same limb. However the vet was very thorough and informative. He described how they checked over every part of my dog's body to ensure she was OK and recommended conservative treatment plan that involves medication and rest--so, no X-rays unless it doesn't get better in the next couple of weeks and likely no surgery. He also noted that my dog is probably a bit dramatic (this is true!). The cost was expensive but not nearly as much as I was expecting and their pharmacy is cheaper than my regular vet. There were a couple things that I feel could be improved upon, though: 1. I have an extra $10 charge that I didn't authorize for their charity organization. I specifically remember hitting "decline." Yet, I was still charged. I know I'll seem like an a**hole asking for a refund, but I prefer to make donations to organizations I'm familiar with and have researched well to be sure they align with all my values. And I prefer to make direct donations rather than while I'm with my dog who is in distress. I also think it's shady to still charge me after I declined. 2. While we were waiting, a young woman came out very upset because her dog was just put down. The music that was blasting in the waiting room was from the soundtrack of the movie "The Wedding Singer," specifically the song where Adam Sandler is singing about wanting someone to kill him and how he wants to die. I also noted that they brought the woman's beloved pet out in a trash bag and then they discussed afterward whether they gave her the correct nose print. The front desk staff was compassionate with her while she was there, but perhaps some of these details could be considered in the future. Overall I was happy with the care my dog got and that is what matters most to me.

Look elsewhere. My two cents:…read more 1) Research the vets who will touch your animals. 2) Research this chain - you will be concerned. 3) Stay away from young know it all docs. I know in emergency - esp on holidays - you're stuck with who you get, but the vet can make it helpful or, as was our experience, a kafkaesque journey through the 7 rings of hell. If I had it to do again, I'd have done research on animal hospitals in the area and Vets within them well before I needed one and would've done what I could to steer toward one of those in an emergency. Our experience could not have been worse. I kick myself for trusting her. Vets are like every other discipline - abilities range broadly. Don't let what happened to us happen to you. We got stuck with what definitely appears to me to be an inexperienced vet (has been there ~ a year or 2) whose hubris cost us a tragic ending with our beloved pet. Also, we had gone there from a pet urgent care center who we paid for a full blood work-up that we presented (about 15 minutes later) to the front desk staff at thee BluePearl hospital when we arrived - along with notes from our regular vet that we saw the day before. The vet never bothered to review the information, ran the same blood tests and charged us for it. Also, our boy died before the radiologist ever read the report on the X-rays - we were charged for the radiologist services. Insults to a very painful injury. You've been warned. My advice: DO NOT GO here and definitely do not allow her to touch your pet - ever. She seems to me to have more confidence than skill. Do your research!!!! I wish I had.

There have been some weird things here and there but no vet is perfect. Administratively, this office is a mess. They never do what they say they'll do the first time. I always have to call and follow up on my requests, and call them for things like receiving blood test results that I spent hundreds on. Recently I needed my cat's prescription for food refilled as we've figured out it's the only food he can digest well. Chewy called me to say my vet was asking for me to get the prescription from them and they wouldn't just send it over to Chewy like they had in the past, even with my cat's visits totally up-to-date and having spent $2,000 on him in the last few months here. Then after I called 2 days in a row, Jennifer at Pet's Best Friend told me their new policy is pet owners need to physically pick up the prescription (they would not email it to me) and said I have to mail it to Chewy. That is absolutely not a thing and I don't appreciate being lied to. I picked up the prescription and can easily upload a digital version to Chewy. Doesn't seem worth it to lose a customer who spends so much at your practice. Please work on the little things; there's no excuse to be so bad at them.

In 2021, I received a phone call from Carey and was told my dog had leukemia. She never had cancer. She was misdiagnosed. In 2020/2021, my dog began having incontinence due to a previous surgery. She wanted to put her on medication that had potential for additional problems. After careful research I found Merck makes a med called Incurin. This was nothing short of a wonder drug. I never noticed any side effects and it make my old pup more energy than she had in years. A year of two later, my dog from suffering from an aggressive skin infection. It was eating away at her fur. I tried medicated shampoo but this was a very aggressive infection. Ultimately, Carey put her on Chloramphenicol. A highly potent drug that should really only be used as a last resort. This is where I made the ultimate mistake in trusting this woman that calls herself "Dr.". Within 2-3 weeks of administering the medication, my dog could no long climb the steps to the house. Many will argue that it was her age, but its very suspicious that she lost that ability in my hind legs just as I started to give her the med. I had to put my baby of 18 years down yesterday because the muscles in her hind legs were so wrecked she could no longer lift her body out of her bed to make her way to the towel to potty. It wasn't until Thursday that she started to cry and howl because she lost the ability to walk. Melody and I had a storied 18+ years together. She was more than my dog. She was my partner. So many coincidences that you might even say those signs would constitute a soul mate. We were best friends. Carey took her away from me. Melody was still a healthy pup at 18. She didn't die of old age. I had to put her asleep because Carey was negligent. She knew the ramifications this drug would have and if she didn't then shame on her for even practicing. Aside from having to waiting outside in the cold until she was ready to see you, I never had a problem with the staff. Every one was always kind. Carey included. But I really don't give a damn about my Drs. personality. I just care about the welfare of my child. Carey put my child in danger. Melody 11/28/2005 - 3/15/2024.
