DONT go here!!! I went last thursday saw a cat I wanted and they wouldn't release her because not spayed. I called EVERY day at 1030 to hold her but they wouldn't take my name or money. Called this morning at 1032 and she was already held. What a shitty place that wont release an animal that is repeatedly asked for but I was placed on hold so someone else cound adopt her. Again. Go somewhere else to adopt. These people are horrible!! Can not say enough bad things about this facility and how they handle their adoption process. read more

I adopted a cat here and the employees were very helpful and kind through the entire process.

Monkey was one of the last puppies adopted from Animal Allies last location. Their new facilities are incredible. I volunteered here regularly walking and socializing the dogs and playing with the cats. They have lots of space for the big dogs and a special room for the small dogs. All the cats live in special rooms with huge windows, toys, and other cats to play with. I am so thankful for wonderful humane societies like this one that give dogs and puppies a chance to find loving permanent homes. Monkey and I thank you!! read more

Fantastic Shelter! I got my first cat here when I was a little kid back in the mid 1990s. We had him until Feb 2011. A while after that we stopped in and staff helped Tobias pick me out as an owner and we have been best friends since. The poor guy seemed lonely so a few months later we adopted Miles (Tapioca at the time). Its been a few years and everyone is still happy and healthy. A while ago they build a new shelter on airport road with enough space for them to move to no-kill model. They frequently have events with reduced adoption fees. Medically they take great care of their animals and even include microchips. The building itself has huge cat rooms with cat towers and other things for them to climb. Overall, it shows how much the staff loves animals and wants to place them in good forever homes. read more

Made the mistake of saying I just wanted to pet the cats, so they wouldn't let me in. You have to be seriously considering adopting an animal to meet them. Also, there are tons of hoops to jump through if you want to volunteer. read more

I'm very disappointed in this shelter. I was fostering this dog for 3 months now. I was Giving him pills daily because of his leg surgery, feeding him, taking him out and giving him attention. I was giving Way better care then how they took care of him and way more attention. Only to take him to the humane society for a check up and they tell me I can't adopt him anymore because he was in contact with another dog. They told me he couldn't have contact with another dog in case of making his leg worse but he only was with this other dog for a couple minutes in a small kennel where they both could lay down but not play like dogs do. A very unhappy customer. read more

I'm not sure when Ashley arrived to pet cats but if she arrived before noon, then no, she would not be let in. No one is let in before hours without an appointment as there is minimal staff and the kennels must be cleaned and the animals fed before clients arrive. During business hours we encourage people to stop in and socialize cats with the assistance of an adoption coordinator. Many people come in to get their "cat fix" when they are away from their own. As far as volunteering; the "hoops" are necessary to assure the animals and the handlers are kept safe. There is more to walking dogs and caring for cats than one would think. Some of the dogs need special handling. You must be able to recognize the mood of the cats to interact safely with them. These animals are under stress and don't always react the way your house pets do. You need to be aware and respond appropriately to every situation, that takes training. Give it a try-you won 't be sorry. I have been a volunteer since the new shelter opened and all of my animals have been adopted from Animal Allies. read more

I really want to support Animal Allies but I'm getting tired of dealing with them. They don't have a fair system. First of all, we went up there to look at the dogs. Some of the cages were clean and empty. Others were pending, while a few others were on hold and not available. There were only about 5 dogs available and of those, they were too big for us with little kids. The small dogs were too small so we weren't considering them. One of the unavailable dogs was the right size but she was not available for 5 days. I called every day until she had been evaluated which happened to be on the day they were closed to the public. I told them I wanted to put her on hold with a $25 nonrefundable fee and they said they'd have the adoption staff call me first thing when they arrived the next day. When I didn't hear from them in the first hour, I called. Guess what? They just happened to answer the phone after opening and let that caller put her on hold. Great system you have there. What I don't understand is why even have the unavailable dogs out for viewing. Where are all the unwanted pets that we hear about? If you've only got about 14 or so cages, make sure they are full of adoptable pets. I've also had friends who won't go there anymore. I'd rather drive a couple hours to get a pet from a shelter that is easier to work with which is what we did with our current dog. The lavish facility isn't worth it if they don't keep it full. read more
