    BluePearl Pet Hospital

Our experience with BluePearl Veterinary Hospital in Duluth was one of the most heartbreaking…read moreexperiences we've ever had as pet owners. We drove three hours after calling ahead and being told to bring our dog in. She had suddenly lost the use of her hind legs and was crying in pain. The veterinary assistants were compassionate, caring, and treated her with dignity. They deserve our sincere thanks. We waited patiently for over two and a half hours, understanding that emergency hospitals must triage patients. Then a veterinary technician--not a veterinarian--told us they would not be able to see our dog. I pleaded for one thing: if they couldn't treat her, could a veterinarian at least provide enough pain medication to ease her suffering until we could find help elsewhere? The answer was simply no. So we picked up our helpless dog and drove another three hours home while she whimpered and cried in pain the entire way. No family should have to watch an animal they love suffer like that after being told to come in for care. Emergency medicine isn't just about saving lives--it's about relieving suffering. In our case, compassion seemed to end at the front desk. We left feeling abandoned, heartbroken, and utterly disgusted.

In the end I actually got lots of practical advice as well as the needed medical care. All the staff I met were super kind to both me and my pup.

Our poor kitty got injured very badly on a weekend...he would likely not have survived until our…read morenormal veterinarian was open on Monday. He was in great pain too. We callled the locally more famous pert emergency hospital in Duluth and were told on the phone that there was an 8 hour wait and to take him to Minneapolis. That simply was not a good option as he would clearly require surgery (if he could be saved), including a stay in the hospital and after care...but we love our boy and would have done it, My wife did a little more sleuthing on internet and found Waters Edge urgent care was open that morning so we ruched up there. I had no chance under those circumstances to research and read reviews, I'm glad I did not because the volume of similar petty reviews on this site would likely have scared us off. The vet tech met us at the door and he was wonderful. Very calm, very gentle with our poor scared and wounded kitty and in general a very kind man. Dr Pop, who it turns out is the spouse of this kind man was exactly the same on the kindness and compassion meter...there is no disputing that they both genuinely care about animals. Yes, the price was high...as it will be in any urgent or emergency care facility. That is just a simple truth throughout the healthcare industry. It was not excessive, I did not "shop around" but expect it may have been slightly less at out normal vet; whatever, that just was not an option under the circumstances and I've got no complaint about the charges that were associated with his emergency care. He did need surgery, he had to stay in their hospital for the rest of the weekend which also means Dr. Pop would be providing ongoing care the rest of the weekend, we've since been back for 3 followup visits related to his recovery and there has not been a single added charge, those who suggest excessive or extortionate tactics here are wrong and frankly missing the point. This is a small operation, with the good Dr and her kind husband often working 7 days a week and of course there are expenses to run their business that have to be borne by their customers. A high volume hospital has more customers over which to spread that expense, but was not an option for us given the timing. I gotta stress we have never experienced the genuine and ongoing attention and care that they had for my little guy had at a high volume veterinarian. Dr Pop and her husband are WONDERFUL. Urgent and emergent care will cost you, this is life everywhere. Accept that as a fact of life. the important part is that they were very competent, very kind, very compassionate and they did after all save our little guys life, what is that worth to us? Priceless.

this vet was awful, horrible experience. My cat had some concerning symptoms ( diarrhea and…read morevomiting) and we brought him into waters edge vet for a check, we wanted an hour for the doctor, and when she arrived she didn't even look at my cat, he never left the carrier and the doctor didnt even glance at him. She listened to the symptoms I described and we were handed a form Of the next actions, radiology and a blood draw for 1000 dollars. we of course declined and left and they charged us 65 dollars for a registration fee which we did pay. we Asked if there was a cheaper option, maybe just a check or a prescription and we were told they couldn't do anything unless we got the tests done And payed them $1000, they hadn't even checked his temp or weight. I am appalled at the service here and will never return, would not recommend to anyone.

Do not recommend. Very disappointed with my experience at Northland Spay/neuter. I brought my…read morekitten in to be spayed and microchipped. The day i dropped her off I asked if she would need a cone for after surgery and I was told "no" and that was all. Went to get my kitten the next day and they forgot to microchip her while she was under for surgery. They microchipped her right then and while I was waiting I could hear my kitten SCREAMING while they microchipped her. My regular vet said they only microchip while the cat is out for surgery because it is a large needle and very uncomfortable. As if my kitten wasn't already in pain and scared from surgery but then they did that to her. then they told me the screaming was from trying to get her out of the kennel, she hates her kennel and comes out immediately after the door is open so I found that very hard to believe. Once I got my kitten home I immediately noticed that she was covered in poop and pee. Her kennel was not wet or smelly so they had to have put her in her carrier seeing that she was soaked in her own feces. My kitten also starting licking her incision within a few minutes of being home, so she definitely should have had a cone even though they told me she would not need one when I dropped her off. I had to bring her into my regular vet, within 2 hours of being home, for emergency care where she received an antibiotic shot and a cone!! They also cleaned up her rear a little more because I could not get it all when I was home with her. Northland spay/neuter does offer a free check up for the animals they see but I definitely will not be bringing my kitten back to that place. I would rather pay $60 at my regular vet for her to check up and then I know a good job all be done. Thank you if you've read this far. I know a lot of people are happy with their experience here and maybe I just am an unlucky person but I think that the experience I had was absolutely unacceptable. I hope no one ever has to hear their kitten scream in pain for for something that easily could have been avoided. That could have been pain free if it were not for the carelessness/forgetfulness of the staff.

And they refuse to take him any longer. No context, no explanation of what happened, obviously he felt threatened, which makes me wonder what kind of people they have work in there. He is a golden retriever for God sakes, and has never attempted to bite anyone or any other animal in his life, however, somehow, Petco managed to make him do it. So they claim.

Beta fish in cups dead and dying in gross water. Saltwater tanks were horrifying, the ones you could see in anyway. Freshwater tanks gross. Dead fish and snails everywhere. These assholes have a pleco in a 3 gallon tank. The poor turtle was swimming in filthy water with nothing but a rock, trying to get out. The birds are not taken care of. Dead snacks and lizards. The employees wandering around like they have nothing to do and they sure aren't checking out or helping customers. I will shop here again and I will report them to everyone I can think of. This store needs to be shut down immediately. They do not care about any of the animals or fish in their care. Words cannot describe how awful this store is.
