If I can give the Hammond Animal Care Center ( 14101 W Club Deluxe Road, Hammond, LA 70403) and the Ponchatoula Animal Care Center ( 799 Campbell Road Ponchatoula, LA 70454) zero stars, than I would!!! They should not be allowed to have a state license nor practice in Veterinary care. Sadly to say, Dr. Ganucheau stated that she and Senator Bill Wheat, who owns the facilities, both reside on the Veterinary Board. Unfortunately, Senator Bill wheat is proposing SB 21, a bill that would include veterinarians, veterinary staff, and veterinary practices to an existing state law which prohibits the battery of certain health care workers, and criminalizes unlawful disruptions at certain medical facilities, when in actuality, our fur babies etc. are being abused at his facilities. I have been bringing my fur baby, Snuggles, who is now 1 year and 4 months old, to see Dr. Ganucheau since he was a small puppy. I will never do that again, because after each visit I noticed that he was in distress. Today, April 21, 2025 is what made me decide to never return to the Hammond nor Ponchatoula Animal Center ever again. Snuggles had a full service grooming appointment with Morgan, the groomer at the Hammond Animal Care Center. His appointment was for 8 AM. I was advised to drop him off alittle earlier before his appointment. Once we arrived, Kayla checked Snuggles in, and Morgan brought him to the back. I was very apprehensive, and I should have followed my first instinct to cancel the grooming appointment. Snuggles grooming appointment was for 8 AM, and he was suppose to be released at 12 PM. No one called me to keep me updated on his status between that time frame, so I became worried and called to check on him. When I called a secretary answered the phone, and stated that she was going to find out the status and let me know as soon as possible. The secretary put me on hold, and then another secretary answered and stated the same thing. Finally, after being on hold for a while, one of the assistants answered the phone gave me an update on his status, and than stated that he would not be released until 3 or 4 PM, which was alarming to me, because he is a rather small puppy, whose grooming should have been completed much earlier. In addition, he had not eaten lunch nor drinked any water. Finally, around 1:13PM, I received a call from Morgan, the groomer, stating that Snuggles' grooming was half done, and could not be completed today, because she stated, " He tried to bite me, and rolled around like an alligator." Then she asked me who his veterinarian was (which she should have known based on the files in the computer sytem. His veterinarian was Dr. Ganucheaux.), because she wanted to sedate him. The groomer stated she was not going to complete the session, that I needed to schedule another appointment for her to complete Snuggles' grooming, and that it was time for me to pick him up. Since she did not complete the grooming, we negotiated a lower price from $60 to $40. I advised her that I needed to consult with my mother about the price, since she was the one paying for it. My mother and I went to pickup Snuggles from the Hammond Animal Care Center, and there were five employees standing in the front of the office staring at us. Dr. Ganucheaux was sitting at the front desk when we walked in. They were gossiping about my puppy, and when my mom inquired about Snuggles, Dr. Ganucheaux, who was suppose to be at the Ponchatoula Animal Care Center, stated that she wanted to prescribe my fur baby Trazadone, to keep him sedated. My mother and I were both against that decision, and asked to speak with Morgan, the groomer several times, but the staff lied and said that she was unable to speak with us about the matter, and when we asked to see Snuggles, it took a while for the staff to bring him to us. When the staff members brought Snuggles, my 1 year 4 month old puppy, from the back we were flabbergasted, because he was unrecognizable in the worst way possible!!! There are severe gashes on his body, he appeared to be battered and bruised, his genitals were and still are swolen (as if he had been neutered without my consent), he is distressed, and he is lethargic. Highly concerned about the condition, and well-being of my puppy, my mother and I continued to ask for Morgan, to explain the ill appearance of my puppy, to which Dr. Ganucheaux, and staff lied again stating that Morgan was unavailable. The staff made us pay the $40, even though my puppy was in the worst condition that I had ever seen. My mother asked the staff to write and initial on the receipt the reason why the grooming service was not completed, and they refused to do so. Furthermore, Dr. Ganucheaux, denied and refused Snuggles of any future care at the Hammond and the Ponchatoula Animal Care Centers without rectifying the matter. read more

My dogs have alot of energy and can sometimes be hard to handle but the doctors and staff are always extremely patient. Remi and Letti actually enjoy visiting the vet. The veterinarians are very knowledgeable and always make sure I understand the what options that are available for my pet's. I also board my babies frequently. I can't say enough to express how caring and devoted this group is to caring for our pets. My parents used them for all our pets 40 years ago and I rediscovered them last year when our dog was bitten by a snake. Last week I brought my beloved cat Fred in after being shot. They saved him. I took my kitty here for a neuter, chip and ears and teeth cleaned. Lauren Miceli performed his surgery. She accidentally cut the tip of his penis off. He almost bled to death. He was eventually euthanized on March 1, 2021. I would never go back there. I recommend them highly for two reasons: 1. For grooming. Did a great job on my cocker spaniel. He's a bit crazy, but the groomer said he was a good boy. I needed to hear that. 2. My older cocker spaniel was quite I'll in the spring. I brought her in to get a second opinion. They were kind and professional, no questions about why they weren't get regular vets. When she passed away, I brought her body there for cremation, sobbing the whole time. They couldn't have been more caring or helpful. I appreciated that so much. 5 read more

I recently brought my 7-8 year old female dog to this vet because she was limping. They gave her something for the pain and said it was probably just sprained from jumping or stairs and would heal on it's on. I spent about $100 for the visit and medication. She continued limping for a month afterwards, so I brought her back there for another appointment. They did an X-ray (for $150 dollars) and said they still didn't know what it was, but that it could be a torn ACL since that doesn't show on an X-ray. So they wanted to have her come in again so they could sedate her (because she is anxious and wouldn't stay still for them to test for it) to test for ACL. All they had to do was move her leg like she was walking to see how the joints moved and rubbed. Nothing serious. She just wouldn't be able to stay still for it. So I spent $210 on this visit for more medicine to relieve her pain and the X-rays. I bring her back for her third appointment to her sedated and tested. I was told to bring her in the morning and that she'd be done in a few hours. I brought her at 10:30am and I kept calling them to see if she was ready. She wasn't ready until 5:15pm (they close at 5:30pm). I didn't understand how it took so long to do that. They told me she wouldn't be sedated anymore when they brought her out when I got there, and she comes it not being able to walk....the vet lady carried her to my car and she started peeing uncontrollably. I then brought her home and she looked drunk and disoriented and couldn't walk normal until about 12am that night. She should NOT have been sedated so much for such a simple test. And she was there the whole day and sedated the whole day..? Because they did the test in the morning/afternoon. This legit made everyone I told about the vet concerned. She was WAY too sedated. I was also charged $50 to sedate her. I am NEVER bringing her to this vet again. Do NOT bring your pets there! read more

Our sweet Boston Terrier is nearly 15 years old and has recently had some serious health problems. Everyone at Animal Care Center has treated us and our Dixie like their own. Their receptionists are courteous and attentive and the Doctors are top notch. They understand how important pets are to their owners and go above and beyond to ensure their well being. We've also boarded our dog several times at Animal Care Center when we've gone on vacation and they take very good care of her. They even make sure she gets a fresh bath and nails clipped prior to coming back home. Two Thumbs UP!!! read more

Big thumbs down. When we picked up our baby she was so stinky. They sprayed her with a deodorizer, so they knew she smelled. It was so terrible we had to bathe her immediately when we arrived home. We can not speak of their vet services but we will not use for boarding in the future. read more

We brought our pet to the groomers here about 5 days ago and she could barely move the next morning. We discovered cuts/nicks on her body and she is very sore. When we inquired what had happened ... we got a big denial and run around. We took her to another vet and she is on anti-flammatory meds and still is not 100%. UPDATED! This place is a joke! They mistreat your animals and are all about the money! Our animals came back after being boarded with urine/feces on them and had not been fed or let out to the bathroom 3 hours after employees where there. When confronted about it while we were picking up our animals "Dr." Sutherland blamed it on not having enough techs to take care of the over 50 animals that were boarded there. We were told to "Never Come Back Here" but to there surprise it is our pleasure to never have our animals mistreated again. This was not the first problem we have had a problem with this place. Groomers cutting our animals and trying to hid it and other mistreated issues as well. Friends have also complained to us about them (not being fed special food brought to vet to feed there animal while boarded and coming home scared and looking like they were afraid to be hit) after we recommend them but now not us nor our other family/friends will ever be back with a total of 12 animals between us. UPDATE: We were basically bribed to take down this review! "Since I'm returning the money will you take down the review" It's not the point of money but of the fact that we trusted you with our pets and for them to come home scared and with feces/urine on them is unacceptable along with the overall attitude of the joke of a "Dr." they have. read more

I'm not sure why this place has some negative reviews, so I wanted to share what great experiences we've had there for the past 8 years with our 3 dogs. The vets visits always go well, but the techs are really great! We have one particularly troublesome dog (dog-aggressive) that we will board from time-to-time since he can't stay with my others at my mom's with her own dog. Whenever we bring him, they are always happy to see him, call him by name, and give him lots of pets. They seem to take very good care of him while he's there, even though some people say he's a "bad dog" and requires a little extra work. Whenever we pick him up, of course he's happy to see us, but he seems perfectly content. He's always freshly bathed, does not seem hungry, and doesn't need to potty right when he gets out the door. I know he's always well taken care of there, and even though I hate to leave him, I know he'll be in good hands next time. read more

Animal Care Center has been my vet for the past 11 years. We have gone through a bunch of things together. They have always given my pets (cats and dogs) the best attention. They are reasonably priced as well. I go there for yearly check ups, grooming, and unfortunately I have been there through one of the hardest times of my life. A few years ago I adopted a bob tail kitten named Toda. He had some health issues around 6 months into his life. He was the best cat, with such an amazing attitude it was contagious. Anyone that met him instantly fell in love. When he started to have the health issues we had to leave him at ACC for a couple of weeks in the hopes that they would save his life. We had to unfortunately put him down because of his issue, it would have been mean of us to make him suffer. The staff at ACC was extremely kind to us during this horrible situation and they even called a few days later to check on how we were coping. They sent a card in the mail with all of their signatures saying how sorry they were and how much they all loved him. read more

I feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful vet for my 3 cats and 1 dog. Not only are the doctors and staff extremely knowledgeable, but they are warm and friendly and seem to care for the well being of my pets just as much as I do. They are also considerate and mindful of the costs of veterinary service. Recently my cat started requiring prescription food (very expensive) and without me asking, the office provided me with a few weeks worth of free samples and over $30 worth of coupons for food. Don't take your small Avian pet here! On their website they do not advertise that they are NOT a full-fledged avian clinic. Want to get your Avian pet a physical? if you go here your pet will not be weighed, mouth looked into, nor will their body be felt for proper musculature. No, your small Avian pet will not have a stethoscope put up to their chest to listen to their heart beating. It's just like a restaurant advertising that they have a salad bar and when you show up the salad bar has one head of lettuce and 4 carrots. GO TO A REAL FULL-FLEDGED FACILITY IF YOU WANT A REAL PROFESSIONAL AVIAN SPECIALIST AND A FULL EXAM DONE ON YOUR PET.
