Several months ago, I came home from work to find my senior dog with his mouth stuck shut and…read moreimmediately took him to ECV; the technicians and veterinarian who worked with us frankly seemed more interested in letting me know how much more about his underlying condition they knew than I (a layperson) did. I think about that a lot. Because we did have to make the extremely difficult decision to put him down, and his last moments were spent with people whose jobs can be so very draining and thankless, but nonetheless whose job it is to guide us through the facts. Yes, I thought it was too expensive. Yes, I thought I was offering the staff more empathy than they deserved. But, yes, my opinion is heavily colored by having left with just an empty blanket in my arms. Just looking at the situation objectively, we did get what we needed.

We were away from home for several days last month. Our good neighbor who was caring for our…read moreailing elderly dog Jax phoned to tell me about his large downturn and misery. He had contacted the practice and offered to transport him there to be euthanized. The process was completed by noon that day. The kind lady there named Cat explained everything to me and showed great care and compassion. Jax was then picked up by Halos and Wings, who also did a wonderful job with their cremation services. The total price for everything was very reasonable. Thank you so much to all concerned!

Love them! They saved my Shih Tzu and I'll forever be grateful for the xtra time we have together…read more I've been to several vets in Myrtle Beach and honestly haven't been impressed with any of them. One vet wanted to do surgery when they found Roscoe had eaten sand at the beach a few days earlier. When I asked questions they seemed annoyed and continued typing on their laptop. I left him there for several hrs since they said he needed medication and they couldn't guarantee his outcome. I came back later and when I asked who stays with them overnight I was informed that no one would be there. I then took him to Beaver Run. They contacted the vet and was told that nothing had been done xcept an IV for hydration. The vet at the ER said she was disappointed with the attending Dr at On Point also.

My dog had a severe allergic reaction to Advantix. Her face and body had huge hives and I was…read moreafraid she'd stop breathing. We checked in at 9:30pm and waited for 7hrs just to be seen. The tech took my dog at the 6hr mark and left the room with no word as to what they were doing or if they were going to be doing anything. Turns out they took my dog and put her in a kennel for two hours!! Why take her, if you're not even close to ready to look at her, she would be happier with her parents!! They said the wait "Is because they had one Vet on a Sunday that we had the wait!" Why wouldn't they have an emergency on-call additional vet available? I asked for them to quickly trim her nails and they said yes and later refused. The hospital was so cold we were freezing the entire time so I told the vet and she said sarcastically "I'm cold too!" Well I'm thinking they need to turn off the A/C!!!! I have been a pet owner for over 50 years and this was by far THE WORST TREATMENT I'VE EVER RECEIVED! We had less than five minutes with the vet after 8hrs of waiting!!!!!!! My dog could've died and they simply didn't care. If they are the ONLY AVAILABLE VET, you don't have much choice, but no customer should EVER have to wait 7hrs to see someone, no vet should ever disappear with your dog with ZERO explanation for two hours, and no hospital should be so cold as to make everyone miserable. My dog survived...no thanks to this animal hospital. But to their credit, and $350 later, my dog was given Benadryl and a steroid. But if we a choice, we would never return.

Bird Owners Beware…read more First, I take responsibility for arriving late. I underestimated holiday traffic and called to say I'd be 15 minutes late, but it turned into 30. That's on me. What is not okay is how they handled my critically ill parakeet Blue. Despite an empty waiting room and parking lot, with the clinic still open for another 30+ minutes, they turned us away. The receptionist claimed the doctors had "left," but then went to speak with them when pressed further, so she lied at first. They still refused and referred to my bird as "it". "You can drop it off tomorrow." Lady, her name was Blue and you had her chart right in front of you! I even told them I wasn't sure she'd even make it to morning, and was basically met with a shrug and no recommendations. They treated me like I just committed a crime or something. During a previous visit with my African Grey parrot, I got the impression they were uncomfortable with birds, but I gave them another chance with my parakeet. Now it's clear they are not a good fit for feathered patients! I will never understand how a vet can turn away a dying animal so coldly. Shame on Paws and Claws "Animal" Hospital.
