The vet we had been going to was having a hard time figuring out and diagnosing what was going on. We had gone 7 different times because switching to Pleasure Island. In ONE visit, Dr Morden did what the other vet could not do. Not only that, but the entire team there (front desk, techs, and doctors) are so personable and kind. I could tell that Enzo felt comfortable there. They are easy to get into for an appointment, appropriately priced, and quick to put together a plan for concerns. I'm so thankful that we switched to this vet and won't be going back to any other. (To give even more confidence, we drive from Rocky Point to Carolina Beach to go here....)

Sadly, that legacy has not continued. Since Dr. Highsmith's quiet retirement (with no formal announcement), the practice has changed dramatically. Long-time staff left, and the new team seems more focused on upselling than care. I was handed a thousand-dollar dental estimate after a vet told me it wasn't needed. Prescriptions now require in-person pickup, and I receive excessive marketing emails--sometimes 11 in a single month. Most disappointing: I sent a detailed letter 10/3/25 to the new owner, Dr. Crawford, expressing my concerns and offering a chance to respond. No one replied. If you value transparency, consistency, and genuine care, this may no longer be the right place. I truly hope they find their way back to the values that built their reputation. Apparently they are also changing the name at least thats good as it no longer reflects Highsmith's steller values.

We have a few nanny cams set up for the baby and could see she would spend a lot of time playing with Carly and take her for a long walk. You can really tell she loves dogs. Carly even started to shed a little weight! I've since moved out of the area, but whenever I go back to visit friends and family, I still hire her to take Carly out if I have a busy day planned.
