We are very disappointed with watsontown emergency clinic, my nephew called in last evening about his pregnant Coton de Tulear , first they put him on hold he waited 45 minutes, he finally hung up. And called in later. They didn't seemed worried and said they would not do a c section on a dog if she is not in labor, this dog was HUGE . In my 36 years of raising dogs I have never seen a dog this big. The dog obviously was needing emergency care. Her temperature had dropped to 95 this morning and they weren't worried. My nephew decided to just take her in , maybe seeing is believing . She died as they were ready to leave. Where are the vets when you need them? We tried several local vets and they all turned us away, not enough staff or don't have time, all say go to emergency vet. It is sad when there are no clinics with a heart. This is not an isolated case, I have heard more people talking of their experiences. read more

This is a predatory business. Instead of discussing long-term solutions to my cat's chronic issue, I had to spend the entirety of both my visits asking them to eliminate unnecessary tests and meds from their estimates. They initially quoted me $3500 for the same treatment my regular vet offers for under $200, and I had to reject FIVE DIFFERENT QUOTES before agreeing to pay only three times what my vet charges. And, of course, it wasn't enough to take care of the problem. Needless to say, I spent the next two days praying that my cat's condition didn't worsen before Monday. They clearly take advantage of being the only available option on weekends, and they should be ashamed. read more

I had my shi zu there yesterday. The doctor was great but when I walked thru the front door they almost had to call the ambulance on me. The smell was so strong of a candle warmer I couldn't breath. I have a lung disease and this was horrible. It is no difference me going to the ER and smelling a nurses perfume or here. They are there to help my family member. Dogs have allergies too. My dog is on apoquil. This is unacceptable!! I told the girl at the front desk and she shut it off. Then she told me she has copd. She should know better!!!! This is a hospital not a candle store! If you think the place stinks open the windows!! This needs to change for anyone in the future going that might have breathing issues. read more

My dog went after our cat this morning and she had a gash on the top of her head. Called and said theyre always walk in but it's $190 fee as soon as you walk in the door. Didnt have to long of a wait which was a plus but after they took vitals they came out and said they want to do X-rays and blood work and it would be almost $800! So I asked is there any other options? I got the response "that's a question for the vet". I was just worried about them looking her over and cleaning up the wound. They later came back out and said they want to admit her and had a whole shopping list of things they wanted to do and now they wanted almost $1200!!! I was irate and told then I want my cat back and I'll go elsewhere and they still made me pay a $300 bc they gave her a pain killer. Place is a scam and a joke. DO NOT GO HERE read more

Needed care for our dog's preexisting digestive issues, wanted $800 without any eval or seeing a doc. 4 hours waiting, staff saying 'you're next' & we left without care only to have them call us to say they wanted to take our dog back to the vet. I wish I could give them no stars! THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL LOOKING FOR EMERGENCY VET HELP I took my 6 month old dog to this "veterinary er" after 24 hours of her being lethargic, and what o described as mopey. I had called ahead and was told it would be 2-3 hours before we could be seen (got there and no one other customers were there). 20 minutes into us being there all they had done was a parvovirus swab, told me it was positive (about the only fast part to this experience) and put us in a room. After sitting in there for about 45 minutes, a man comes in from the back of the room and just starts spitting information off at me while leaning on the sink across the room from us. He finally stops and says "do you understand what I'm saying, do you get it?" very loudly and rudely. I said i didn't even know who he was to which his return was "names on the jacket." He then proceeds to tell me my dog needs treated however he doesn't feel their place is the best and that it can very easily be treated at home with an 85% chance my dog makes it. Very much so wanting me to take this option. he continued on that if he...it is a he right and I said her name is Luna to which he says yeah well I didn't really look at the chart and that doesn't change how I would treat this. He disappears after all this to never come back in. A tech comes in to discuss the financial aspects of two different care plans...keeping her there need 2699 out of the total estimated cost of 3200 for two days to which after she will need to go someplace else or 700 dollars to take her home. Both being ridiculous, I chose the take home option to try a more trusted vet that monday. the tech gives me the stuff for her and does her first doses of meds and then states oh it looks like we never got a temp or anything on her. they told me to give the meds a couple of days to work and had nothing by improved, take her to the vet. well...nothing did....not at all. I took her to wolf run in muncy, they were wonderful. The staff there asked to see the meds and instructions watsontown had give me and and also asked watsontown for the chart. they stated that this was not nearly aggressive enough nor should there have been the option of going home. After an hour of being at wolf run, Luna passed from this illness. Having to accept this was a very rough thing to do, having watsontown less than 12 hours later ON A NIGHT THEY SAY THEY ARE CLOSED send a text asking how she is and stating if I had any questions to feel free to call them anytime ...threw me over the edge. so I did call, I told them she had passed and that I would like a meeting with their management and dr Meyerhof. The girl said she would pass the information along. A week later...still no call. I called back, the phone rang and rang and rang and when it finally got answered, I was put on hold before I could even say a word...after sitting on hold for 10 minutes, I used my office phone and called while I was still on hold to which someone(same person who put me on hold) promptly answered and asking how she could help me. Very frustrated at this point I told them I needed to speak with the management, finding out from this person that the management there are to vet techs themselves and that dr Meyerhof is the lead vet. Still wanting this meeting, I asked once again for a call to set this up. NOTHING. a week later, called again, different lady. i explained everything that had gone on to this point and asked again for someone to call and set up this meeting. she states that she is very sorry and that she would make sure something was done about this. I also asked her as to why my dogs chart from being there had still not been sent to wolf run as they asked she tells me it had, the Thursday AFTER Luna passed. I don't want someone else to go through this. It is now the 16th of July! Luna's encounter with watsontown occurred the night of the 17th into the 18th of June and she passed on the 20th. A month has gone by now and there still has been no phone call, no meeting..no answers. I personally work in a ER (for humans) and I do understand animals are different from humans however, I feel as though there's some basic things that stay the same such as assessing your patient before you come up with a care plan. This doctor never even touched Luna, never left his "perch" of the sink across the room. That would be the same as you going to the er, being put in a room for hours never seeing anyone and then boom this is what the doctor wants you to do. I will advocate for the staff at WOLF RUN VETERINARY HOSPITAL located in Muncy Pa! These folks are it! Boarding, animal care and grooming all on one site! They treated this whole ordeal with respect dignity and poise in a very clean and comforting building. while They don't have full staff there on the weekends, I did find out they do have a 24 hour tech on site who can help you. My dog had digestive issues his whole life. We knew what the symptoms were when he was having a diverticulitis attack. This was different. My dog was puking multiple times an hour and cried nonstop for hours. I didn't want to wait until the morning to call the regular vet so I took him here at 2 am. I called first and explained the situation. When I got there, I was checked in quickly and was in a room in less than 10 minutes (I was the only car in the parking lot). They talked with me and took my dog back to get his vitals checked. After 15 minutes the vet came in and asked me why I was there. I explained the excessive vomiting and non stop crying for hours. He told me that the story I was telling him did not match my dogs vitals. He said everything was good with my dog and he didn't understand why I felt the need to bring him in. I said I was concerned about dehydration. He said my dog was mildly dehydrated and that my dog was being overly dramatic. He told me that if I wanted, they could do a blood panel and X-rays for $500 on top of the emergency fee of $180. He said and they wouldn't be doing any procedures there...that I could then take those results to a gastrointestinal specialist or my regular vet for evaluation. He said he could give my dog some subcutaneous fluids and anti-nausea meds to get him through until I could see the regular vet later that day. I said to him that if he felt the dog wasn't that bad and could wait to be seen by my regular vet, we would go with the injections since no further treatment was going to be given by them anyway. So it cost me $300 for them to tell me they aren't going to do anything. My dog died later that day after going to the regular vet. He had a perforated bowel and was very much indeed in severe pain (They did not even offer pain meds to me). The regular vet said my dog was so dehydrated they couldn't even do an X-ray right away because he was so bad. After talking to my neighbor and letting them know about our dog, they said the same thing happened to them. But their dog died before she could be seen by the regular vet. Drive the extra distance and go somewhere else. You'll just be an annoyance to these people who will just take your money and tell you your dog will be fine. read more

Dr Haas received my canine in dire circumstances. His candor and professionalism left me with the real state of affairs. He was confident that this was not hopeless. He was loving on my girl after a very delicate hysterectomy and praising her for her strength when he called. He then insured our investment of 11 yrs of love would not be squandered and she received 3 days of followup care and IV antibiotics. Two days later her condition lifted and I have seen her fully come back to her GSP spryness. If you need expertise, you've found it! read more

My cat was severely constipated and this was the first Vet that actually did both an enema AND full cleaning under anesthesia for him. All the other Vets (in nearby towns) either just gave him an enema or sent him home without doing anything other than giving us some laxatives. How was I supposed to give him laxatives when he was vomiting everything up? All the other Vets said his constipation wasn't even that bad. My cat was straining to poop and vomiting so of course it was bad! One time a Vet (in another town) sent us home with an enema to do ourselves. Dangerous advice! This was the 4th time this happened and he was very dehydrated and severely lethargic. He as hiding in the basement of my home. I honestly thought he was going to die. He couldn't get anything out no matter how hard he tried. He meowed in pain and it was hard to watch him like that. So that's when I brought him to the Vet here at Watsontown. It was early in the morning so there's was only two people ahead of us thankfully. The wait wasn't long at all compared to another time I went-- BUT, I wish they would have taken my cat inside and given him fluids at least instead of making him sit in the car. The first time we went, they took him in right away to check for a UTI and then set him aside in line when they saw it wasn't. I think being dehydrated is pretty serious as it can damage the kidneys. So they should have at least given the fluids and then wait to do the other tests later. But I won't make them lose a star for the that as we didn't have to wait hours this time, thankfully. So when it was my cats turn, they did a lot of tests and I won't get into those details as they didn't find anything too serious other than constipation. They seemed like they really cared and decided to do a full clean out for him plus get him hydrated of course . I agreed and my cat stayed there overnight and we picked him up the next day. They said his procedure went well and they gave my cat some things to help him eat and then poop normally. They even gave him a bath after he got poop all over himself which was nice. He was never just left there for hours alone, they were always keeping an eye on him. I could text them whenever I wanted and they would always update me on how he was doing. It helped calm my fears. They always responded fairly quickly and were very kind. One time they told me was doing good and resting comfortably. It helped me sleep at night knowing that. I never went to a Vet before that did updates like this so I really appreciated it. Not sure if it's just the emergency Vets that do this but I really liked it. After I took my cat home, I noticed they had time stamps on the printout papers, keeping a record of everything they gave him and everything he did while he was in their care. This was awesome! One time it said he was watching his surroundings and I just thought that was so cute. Now it was VERY expensive to have all of this done but I can understand as it was the emergency Vet. Getting my cat healthy again was worth all the money. Overall, I think they did a good job! I really hope my cat doesn't get this again. The Vet recommended a prescription diet which he is on now so hopefully that will help. They also said to give him miralax and pumpkin in his food as well. I understand you have a business to run and you work the hours no one else will, but do you really need to hold people hostage for the love of their pets? I have mixed feelings about my visit here. I was in dire straights with a kitten that was suffering greatly so I took it to the hospital with credit card in hand. I called as I left to give information, I waited in the hot sun in the parking lot for an hour before I called to ask if they had forgotten little mans emergency, to which an orderly came out and took the kitten stopping to lecture me about the doctor would assess him and if he was judged stable they would go in order of patient checked in. Now the kitten was dying. One glance at the kitten said as much. The doctor assessed and was kind and knowledgeable, at which point I took the kitten back and interrupted my vets Sunday off , because I just had a problem trusting these folks to do all that needed to be done and if he was going to die, he was going to die with love and effort of those around him who knew when to say enough. If you are a walk in clinic....ok I get it order in which you receive, but if you are listed as emergency medical and you charge the fee to go with said title, when I bring you something at deaths door, I truly expect you to be waiting when I show up. read more

We had our dog pull out all his stitches from a leg laceration while we were at work. As you would expect, we got home just as our family vet was closing. Animal Emergency Center was very accommodating. We had to go during the Covid pandemic, so things were a little out of the norm, but they handled everything smoothly. From check in over the phone, picking him up, and updating us over the phone, we were very pleased with his care. It did take a while (probably about 3.5-4 hours total) because they had a few emergencies before us, but we were able to go home and pick him up early in the morning when they were finished. Our dog has anxiety and requires sedation for most things, he appeared to have been un-phased and woke up fine by the time we picked him up. They are open 24 hours which I appreciate, so we could pick him up around 1am rather than have him stay over night (he doesn't do well in kennels due to anxiety). I feel their prices were reasonable (comparable to my home vet, with a reasonable added emergency fee). As we all know, fur babies aren't cheap. I will gladly have them as my emergency vet in the future. read more

Took our cat here lastnight with kidney failure because she was just laying down staring at the ground. She wasn't an overly active cat but this was very unlike her. We called before we made the 45 minute trip up there at 12am and they said when there at that point it's close to the end. So we drove up there so the vet could check her blood levels to see where she was at and if she was suffering. The vet; to whom we had to speak to over the phone; told us its most likely stress related and didn't see a point in doing blood work. His "bedside" manor was terrible and I could hear him giving attitude to my fiancée who was speaking to him. We we're there until 430am. Long story short, we just got home from having our loved one put down after going to our ACTUAL vet. read more

I felt like they simply took advantage of a customer in search of help for a sick pet. After arriving and having an initial review of our dog, my wife was quoted a price to proceed. When the diagnosis was complete, we were told the bill was actually $200 more than my wife was originally told because of the medications they supplied. This was never explained to us in advance nor did we ever authorize them to fill prescriptions. Their actions were deceitful, the technician who handle our case was very rude and they clearly leave the impression that they care much more about money than they do about your pet. Incidentally, they are still using the COVID-19 excuse to avoid having customers in their building. read more

We've been to central PA twice with Victor and visited the AEC as many times-- he's an accident-prone little dog! The folks here were very helpful and friendly. I especially appreciated their consideration to my dog's sensitivities. For example, on the first visit he still had a cough following his previous medical/surgical procedure so they opted to sedate him without intubation so as not to further irritate his throat. Similarly, for his eye infection they gave me alternate options to eye drops because they could see V was in too much pain to cooperate. They also let me choose between two diagnostic/treatment options, and told me what to do until we got back to DC so I wouldn't have to pay for yet another e-collar. I really feel comfortable bringing V here. The prices are, of course, better than DC area prices, though emergencies are still expensive. I like their discharge reports and they provided helpful care over the phone. They also called a week later to check on how he is doing. read more

I brought my cat in to the animal hospital due to him straining looking like he was trying to poop. He was obviously in a lot of pain and I was worried he was blocked up. It was a Sunday morning, so I didn't want to wait until my regular vet opened on Monday, in case it was life-threatening. I called ahead and they said a 2-3 hour wait. I have been to animal hospitals before and have always been allowed to go in with my pet. Here (maybe because of COVID) you have to wait in your car and they come get your pet and you talk to people on the phone. I informed them that I thought my cat was blocked. I was very clear. The intake person obviously did not explain that to the vet very well because they were just confused and thought I was talking about a urinary blockage. He has had a urinary blockage before, so I know what that presents as. That's not what it was. So 2 1/2 hours later, they call and tell me that he is not blocked...his bladder is half full but not overly full. I told them that wasn't my concern. I said I think he is filled with poop and is blocked up and can't poop. So they did imaging and he was completely filled up. The vet told me I was "spot on". They gave him an enema and he pooped a little bit and 6 hours later we were able to bring him home. It would have been way too much money to keep him there overnight. I'm disappointed because I took him to my regular vet this morning and he is still full of poop, and for 1/3 of the price they are putting him under anesthesia and manually removing the feces, which is what should have been done yesterday when the enema didn't work. My poor cat was struggling so bad and could not eliminate his bowels. Although the veterinarian was very nice and kind, they did not do what needed to be done, and I'm glad I did not have him stay overnight because I already paid them 3 times as much as my regular vet to not even solve the problem that my regular vet saw immediately and is fixing. read more

I have heard about this place many times but never had to find it until last night. My puppy wasn't feeling well all weekend with vomiting and diarrhea and then last night when I picked him up after work he yelped and was sitting strangely and I knew something was wrong. So I drove him there because my vet was closed. They took him in the office and the first visit from the tech to my car was my puppy had a foreign body in him and was going to need surgery and stay the night. I said I'm not sure how I'm going to pay for all of that how do you work that and I didn't really get an answer. She goes back in, another tech comes out and says can we send the x-rays to a specialist to see if it is a foreign body. I'm just a nurse, but I can look at an x-ray and tell if there is a foreign body or not. I don't know what the issue was because you can't go in and you can't talk to the doctor so what am I supposed to say. The next person comes out and says the specialist doesn't think it's a foreign body, but somebody decided it was an overgrowth of bacteria. I'm like you can't see that on an x-ray so what are you talking about. Six hours later and $900 later they sent me home with an antibiotic. My dog who is going to have to stay the night and have surgery is now going home with an antibiotic. He won't drink, he hasn't pooped, you can tell he's miserable but I don't have any more money. I knew for some reason I shouldn't take them there but I did because I didn't want anything to happen to him. Sitting out in my car I have no idea what happened to him, why he couldn't walk when we got home our climb up steps when he's typically leaping up them and they couldn't answer why either. I don't care what you have to do, call your own vet, go to a different emergency vet until you find one that's actually good and can make up their mind about the diagnosis, but not here. I feel like the decision making was saved on my ability to pay or not. They knew I couldn't pay $3000 for surgery and to stay at the clinic, so they came up with something else. read more

The first time I ever had an emergency with my cat was about 3 months ago. I had never been to this hospital, but now that I have, I am so incredibly thankful for them! I called to tell them my male cat seemed off, and they said to bring him in. They explained their policies on the phone so that I knew what to expect when I arrived, then off I went to Watsontown. When I got there, the parking lot was almost entirely full, they were very busy! Even still, they took him in the back to be checked right away. I am so thankful they did, because they found out he could not urinate, and he had to have a urinary catheter placed immediately :(. All of the staff I encountered were extremely compassionate. I saw a couple waiting to be seen with their dog with bad ears roll their eyes when they saw my cat being taken back, which is what sparked me to write this review. Being the owner of a very sick animal, I can't tell you how grateful I am to have had my cat taken to the back right away. While it may not be fun to wait to have your pet seen, I think waiting is not necessarily a bad thing, it means there are sicker animals. They even have a sign saying something similar. As far as pricing goes, they are an emergency hospital, it is going to be more expensive than the regular vet offices, which I expected. I hope I never have an emergency with my pets again, but if I do, I absolutely will be going to Watsontown, and will tell everyone I know to do the same. Thank you for saving my boy!!! read more

I went here with my dog when she lost control of her back end. I also went here with my sisters dog that the neighbor shot. Just so you know that neighbor never even got arrested for it even though the state police were called. They are great and I'm glad to have them around. read more

My niece was watching my dog, who has a history of seizures, while we were on vacation. He had multiple seizures in one night for her, so she got scared and took him to the Animal Emergency Center for care. Even though he was already under the care of another vet and under the care of a neurologist (they were given phone numbers for both and both are part of emergency clinics open 24/7), they talked her into doing a CT scan of my dog's brain. They used their power as health professionals on a sleep-deprived mother of 2 young, hungry children to influence her to agree to the CT scan. They did obtain the records of my dog from my vet. They were aware that he already had a diagnosis, but for some reason still felt they needed to perform a CT scan because the neurologist had not done so. The neurologist with many years of experience treating dogs with seizures was second-guessed by the vet at the clinic who had graduated one or two years ago from vet school. Unfortunately, my niece was unable to contact me before they quickly went ahead and did this CT scan. The CT scan, no matter the result, would not have changed the treatment of my dog. The vet admitted this to me when I spoke to her. There was no reason to perform this $1500 exam on my pet. A CT scan on a pet is not just a simple test. It requires general anesthesia. They put my pet at risk for all the serious side effects that come with general anesthesia to make an extra buck. I really feel they did not have the best interest of my dog in mind. The next day they wanted to do an ultrasound of his stomach when he supposedly had stomach pains. Luckily my niece was able to contact me. I told her to refuse unless he had other symptoms. He had no other symptoms, in fact his notes state that he ate ravenously when given food. At that point, I really felt like the clinic was trying to take advantage of us. In addition, their follow up instructions said to follow up at Cornell when we clearly already had a neurologist for our dog that was not near Cornell. That says to me that they are not only trying to pay for their expensive equipment but are following an algorithm when treating a patient without thought to the individuality of the pet. Anyone can follow an algorithm, it takes thought and true skill to really treat a pet. I would not recommend this vet because they are more interested in making money than the well-being of your pet. read more

I had to take my pup to Animal Emergency Center over the weekend. Friday morning my dog started limping, whimpering and whining every time he walked. He wasn't himself at all. I gave it a couple hours (I just got home from working 7pm-7am an hour from home). A little later that evening my dad and step mom said my dog was shaking from being in pain. Of course by this time my vet was closed. I called to sunbury animal hospital and they wouldn't accept him cause they already had 3 other major emergencies. They told me to give Animal Emergency Center a call. The First Lady I talked to on the phone was very nice. She did warn me that it might not be a fast visit but if I was patient with them, they would get my boy seen. So my dad and I decided to take him to get checked. We did have to wait a while before they took him inside but they were very professional and very helpful. They had to sedate him and he seemed to be fine after waking up. They gave me a little heads up on where I was as far as an estimate and asked my opinion on things as far as what I wanted to go through with to make sure it was affordable for me. They accepted my care credit too which was important for me. They did blood work, X-rays, and got him started on medication. 4 days later my pup is back to his peppy, happy self and doing great. I will definitely go back to Animal Emergency Center again in the future if need be! read more

Great place! Doctors and staff are so kind and caring. They are given a bad wrap on other reviews saying how they only care about money. This is not the case, they care about and treat your pet, as if it were their own. Payment is due when services are rendered, just like you can't go to McDonalds and come back another day and pay, that's the normal anywhere today. Keep up the good work AEC! don't take your pet here cause i would hate to see you go through what i have been through.i took my pet here to hear there was nothing wrong with my dog and long behold there was indeed something wrong.the veterinarian told me no cause for alarm.after 2nd opinions my dog almost died and ended up with paying close to 30,000 dollars.yes 30,000 dollars our lives are forever changed everyone has suffered but the veterinarian who said no cause for alarm.if you have ever had a very same situation please share cause our pet's can't talk we talk for them.my story is real and i will never give up. read more
