(I forgot to review after my experience!) I came home at 11PM after work to my cat being unable to stand and crying in pain anytime I tried to move her. I was panicked and the only place open was Animal Emergency Clinic. I rushed her there and they got her in right away for X-rays to check for any internal injuries. They gave us an antibiotic (and pain meds I think) and were very polite and understanding. My cat was walking around by the time we left and I felt so much better knowing that she had no serious injuries. Took her to our regular vet at Coble the next day and they had to shave her leg and found she had stress induced pancreatitis from the new kittens I was fostering. Overall a very expensive couple of days, but I cannot say enough how much I appreciated the emergency clinic and how reassuring they were in my moments of panic. Waited 3 hours. Not one person came to even take vitals on dog to see if she was critical or not. Did come and check vitals on others that arrived after us. Said others were more critical, which would be understandable to treat first if so, but how do you know if you didn't even take vitals on our dog? Receptionist did make sure to run out to gripe at us for letting her out of kennel for a few minutes after waiting room empty. Understand dogs need to be kenneled or leashed, but others weren't while we were there and not one word. Absolutely ridiculous that they didn't even check her vitals but did of others to determine who was more critical. Again, how do you know if you didn't even take her vitals or look at her to see other than to gripe at us? Felt like whole attitude was based around them being upset about her being let out for about two minutes. You'd think they'd care more about the animals than copping attitudes. Funny how you see negative reviews - lots of them - on every site but their own. read more

I took my dog in at midnight because he was vomiting a lot. I got checked in and 3 hours later no one had been in. I walk into the hall and yelled, anyone here? Nothing. Highly recommend. No one wants to have to take their beloved dog or cat to a vet for an emergency but if you have to, this clinic is excellent. My dog cut his paw somehow and was bleeding quite a bit. I called first and they told me it would be about an hour long wait. We arrived about 45 mins later and he was seen within 10 minutes. The staff, vet and techs were all very professional and kind. It is very clean inside and does not have any smell. I don't feel their pricing was out of line, it was very reasonable in my opinion, I honestly expected to pay twice what I paid. read more

I took my dog in Sam and thought he was going to have to be put down. After some tests we discovered it wasn't a life threatening illness after all. Last week I had to take my 12 yo Siamese in for respiratory distress . From the first call I made to ask advice and for his entire care there, the staff was very kind, responsive, and took extra time to explain what they thought was going on. He had to be in the oxygen kennel which was expensive , but needed. i was there at 6:30 am, through change of shift and they did excellent hand offs of the medical conditions. I 10/10 do NOT recommended Animal Emergency Clinic in Springfield off of Durkin Dr. and would not trust Dr. Joel Metzler... He had to use instructions I'm the room for eye pressure test and had no idea what he was doing. Added a medication at very end of appointment then called me 5 hours later telling me not to give the med to my doh. Took him to our normal vet this morning. They did all the same test the ER vet did yesterday. The ER vet told me Cooper had glaucoma and that his eye pressure in the right eye was 34 and in the left eye 24. Today our vet did the eye pressure on both eyes. Right eye was 19 and left eye was 17 (she tested both eyes multiple times to be sure). She believes he had pollen in his eye. ALSO not to mention the ER vet told me he had heart murmur and I should be worried about congestive heart failure. I was bawling on the floor thinking I did not have much time with Cooper because the ER dr made it seem like he was dying. Guess what... doesn't have heart murmur either. Now I've called to get answers and money back. and they will not return my call.. read more

I have come into this emergency vet twice in the past 6 months. One of the times was for a newer dog that I had adopted and took him in due to him having diarrhea. Since he had just gotten his parvo vaccine we took him in. They told me that they were going to do an x ray of his stomach to see if anything was in there. They also tested him for parvo AFTER the x ray. I had to pay for the x ray that showed absolutely nothing. He stayed there for a couple of days and they told us to just put him down because there was nothing they could do. After being heartbroken about this, they held out their hand for the payment like nothing happened. The second time I encountered this vet, the vet tech told us nothing about our dog that we should be worried about. The vet gave us false information about our dog and what the effects are of an albuterol inhaler she got into. Our dog was scared and anxious so she was barking when someone who she did not know came into the room (like normal for most dogs). The vet seemed very annoyed, made multiple rude comments such as that we need to control our dog, you need to correct bad behavior, does she even know sit, i can't even hear myself think, and a couple of more comments. I told her that she just needed to sniff her out in order to become comfortable but the vet didn't even let her sniff her until after she stopped barking. I did not have a treat on me or anything in order to "correct her bad behavior" so i'm not sure how else i could have handled that situation. Was not impressed. Then we were quoted $2,000 for an overnight hospital stay to just monitor our dog who was not showing any strange symptoms and the reason we took her in was to make sure her vitals were okay. This interaction was completely ridiculous for the wait that we had. They staff did not seem concerned about our dog and just concerned with a payment of some sort. The communication from this emergency vet is absolutely awful and they do not tell you the truth about the real situation with your animal. read more

Should be more concerned about the animal than how they are going to be paid. A third party was paying for our dog because we couldn't pay up front. They were told everything that was going on with him and his test results before we were. Were made to feel like incompetent idiots by the vet and the third party because our dog was so sick and didn't bring him in sooner. He had to be put down. Two other vets and two vet techs reviewed his records and said he had to have had an underlying condition for the sepsis to set in so quickly. Vet never told us that. Only that he would have been saved if we had brought him in sooner. Also repeated words that the third party had said to me beforehand. Have had animals all our lives and have seen much worse injuries than he had and came through it fine. Didn't make sense to us. Fortunately, someone who wasn't being paid told us the truth. If you take your animal there, you better have lots of money because it felt like that's all they cared about. read more

A joke, 900 bucks later the office referred me to a office that has no space to help my puppy, no referral sent from the emergency office or x-rays that where taken sent. To find out I can only go pay another 1000 bucks to do what has already been paid for on top of the surgery he needs. 1 star bc I can't leave 0 stars bc this place is absolutely the worst vet hospital I've ever taken a dog to. So for starters, my dogs been having diarrhea, we took him in just to get him looked at and see what their opinion was. We ended up waiting 3 hours. At first they told us he needed a x ray and needed to take his vitals bc they were "concerned". More like concerned for their money. THATS ALL these people want, I promise you. They told me it was going to be $700 something. How ridiculous. I ended up asking to just do a xray bc that was stupid. It still was $400 something. She told me my dogs intestines were smushed together bc of a rope inside of him and that he might need surgery and that they wanted him to stay overnight and get another x ray in 6 hours. Which was going to be another $2,000 on top. Absolutely the f not. She then came back after to tell us my dog looked depressed for a puppy. My dog is the happiest thing I know and he literally just didn't want to be there. I argued with her telling her that, she doesn't know what she's talking about, along with my other family in the room. I decided to walk out and get a nurse to tell them she can save it bc I was very upset that she was just wanting my money and that she told me my dog was depressed how stupid are people? I am going to go get another opinion bc I don't trust these people. As I was leaving, a gentleman and his daughter came in screaming bc a staff member some how accidentally let their dog get loose when trying to get a urine sample outside and let it run away. My family tried helping them but they never found the dog and the poor people were sobbing screaming for someone to help but they just kept checking people out.. again bc all their worries ab is their money. He then yelled he was going to sue the place and told everyone inside to "never come in this place, it's all a joke" anyways, long story short, don't go here. Our puppy got into some raisin bran and ate a few that made her sick. We took her to the AEC and they did some tests. One came back that indicated a POSSIBLE parvo marker. Not a diagnosis, just a faded line that was barely visible. After charging my retired Navy Veteran mother 500 for a undiagnosed illness, she sent her to the overnight clinic where my mother was berated, yelled at, and forced to leave after pleading with them that she could not afford another 1000 dollars to keep the dog overnight. My 79 year old mom is on a fixed income like many others. This kind of treatment of a human being tells me an animal would be treated worse. When my mom tried to express her concern she was told "FINE! I GIVE UP, YOU WIN! She then walked out and slammed the door behind her. She didn't know I was on the phone and heard how she yelled this at my mom. Another vet or staff member exclaimed "I don't know people, only animals" after my mom told them that she had heart medications that cost less than the iv fluid they were going to give her. They then proceeded to tell her that if she did not leave the dog with them that she would die a horrible painful death. This left my mom near a heart attack fearful that she had no choice but to leave her there for something that wasnt even diagnosed to be treated for. With no recourse financially. They demanded payment befoe they even provided services. It is my utmost opinion that this office is full of a bunch of scam artists. If this how they treat people i can only imagine how bad it is for dogs or any other animal. Their behavior was childish, uncaring, unprofessional, rude, threatening, and disgusting. I would never recommend anyone leave an animal in their care unless u have enough money to pay their student loans off. This was the WORST vet experience we have ever had, this does not make me or my family that has more than 20 dogs, cats,reptiles, horses, and other critters between all of our homes want to go to any vet. Its clearly more about money than the animals we so adore. These people do not deserve to serve pets much the less the people that fought for their country and gave these idiots the ability to rip people off. I would gladly take the hit on my gas tank to go anywhere other than springfield vets. This one should not even be in business. The Dr and staff are all wonderful. I recently had to put my animal sown and they were so compassionate and caring. Making sure I understood everything and explained my options. They were kind enough to send a sympathy card to my home. I am thankful they were there for not only myself but my dog Cooper. read more

I am grateful I had the option on Friday night to have a place to take my Cat that was crying in pain from cystitis. I could not bear to have my Cat suffer thru the weekend. I had just paid my previous vet $800 three hours earlier for treatment and an overnight stay. I mentioned up front that I was in a bind from it. I realize they need to be paid, but felt they were more focused on payment than helping my cat. After my credit was approved, the Veterinarian then came in to see my cat and provide treatment. Overall, I am happy with the expertise and treatment of my Cat's pain. Just wish it was less money based. read more

I rushed my 15 year old Bichon here after she had several episodes of urinating pure blood. They took her in immediately and ran scans, gave hydration, and diagnosed a severe bladder infection. I can't say enough about how efficient and caring they were. They sent her home with several new meds, and she is so much better today. Needless to say, I was terrified yesterday, and our local vet clinic had closed for the day. The vet there was Dr. Sarah Moskop, and she was wonderful. I highly recommend this clinic. Springfield and surrounding areas are lucky they have a place like this to turn to. read more

We had to use this clinic around two years ago when one if our dogs impaled herself on a fence at 1:30 am. They were fast and thorough. It was just a flesh wound (non-life threatening), they sewed her up and we were out the door. The price was reasonable, especially taking in concideration the hour. read more

I drove 90 minutes to this clinic on a Sunday afternoon because my 13 year old cat was very sick. No one closer to home would see her except for one vet who I don't trust. The staff was so caring and immediately got busy finding the problem. Very gentle, very thorough. Any emergency care is expensive and this was no exception, but both of us felt much better when we left there. Now, one week later, my cat is back to normal. Thank you AEC of Springfield. read more

If you value you pet which I am sure you do,do not take it here. I took one of my dogs there on 6/14/14 because her stomach was swollen and she was in pain. Nicholas McClimon seen her took her temp poked and prodded her then felt down her spine because she was hesitant to jump. His response to that was I think we found the problem, she has bad hips. I said don't you think you should do x-ray or blood work he then says "I see no tale tale signs that would justify you spending $170. for x-rays I also asked if this could be an anal gland problem seeing how she has one,and got no response. So I paid the $140.95 bill and went home. Two weeks later she is no better I took her to another vet who did blood work and said she was in congestive heart failure.for which a swollen spline 3 times the normal size would cause. Two weeks later to the second vets partner he did the x-rays and found the swollen spline and four days later removed it. She is doing a lot better now. But my suggestion to anyone who uses this place take two people in or take a tape recorder to record the conversation the entire time you are there. read more

We have a sick, 8-week-old puppy who stayed the nigh here for monitoring and treatment. The staff were so good with her and us. When she cried, they took her out and held her. When we got her back in the morning, she was feeling much better. We still have a long road ahead of us, but I was able to rest last night knowing our little Annabelle was in good hands. read more

I've been here before when my vet was closed and we were so worried about our animals. They took such good care of us- as if they had know our pets for a long time. Once I even brought in a baby bird! It had fallen from the nest so we were caring for it. They did an exam but found nothing but underdevelopment. They seemed genuinely concerned. Unfortunately they couldn't really help much, just a victim of "survival of the fittest" . But they were always so nice to all of our animals. I was actually surprised how good they were! A few months ago I had to call to ask a question about my 13 yr old lab mix. Turned out it was likely something that could wait till my vet was open, but I was welcome to bring her in if I felt I needed to. They couldn't think of anything serious that would cause her symptom. My girl turned out to be just fine and I didn't have to worry. Then last week she ate something that I was really concerned about. I called and the really nice girl there told me she didn't know of any harm the ingredients would do, but gave me the number for animal poison control and explained how they would fax the clinic any details and recommendations so I could bring her in to be treated and they would know exactly what to do! I am always confident going there and so thankful we have them. read more
