I took my two dogs to PetSmart for grooming. The person doing the grooming was Beverly. Three hours later she called me and said she had a personal emergency halfway through grooming one of my dogs. She said she was gone an hour. She finished the grooming when she got back. We were not happy with the cuts. I think she hurried through to get done. When I called to let them know I was unhappy, the manager said she is new to grooming. That was his excuse. We won't be going back. read more

The last three times in a row they didn't even trim my dog's paw pads let alone all of the other services promised that I was charged for. Paid 35 extra for upgrade package on top of 60 for a bath and full cut on a Bichon. Came back two hours later and basically all they did was was shaved off all her hair. I'm sure the upgrade package wasn't even performed but I was still charged. These people are supposed to be professional pet groomers. They are not. We have one dog that we sent in to be groomed, and when we got home, we found that her skin was cut and bleeding due to excessive, harsh brushing with a metal brush. This same dog, a Labrador Retriever, had been taken in before to be groomed. Without suggestion, permission or consent, the groomer decided on her own to give this breed of dog a, "hair cut." She said it was a nice, comfortable coat now for the summer. This person destroyed our dog's coat. I checked online to see if they really had ruined her coat. Here is what I copy and pasted for you to read; "Is it OK to trim Labrador hair? No, some working breeds of dogs, such as the Labrador retriever, should NOT have their hair coat cut or shaved at any time. If something is tangled or matted into the coat you can brush it out. If brushing is not working then trim only as little as possible to resolve the problem." It also said that the undercoat would recover, but that the outer coat would always be frizzy, un-even, and not grow back the way it was. It said never to cut or trim a Labrador's coat. These people either don't know what they are doing, or it was done intentionally because they have issues with people who are gay. Never going back. You should not go there, either. read more

I have used this service 4 times for nail trimmings and de-shedding. 2 times they did good. 2 times they didn't do anything at all. Waste of money going here. Do not take your pet here! The staff there are not accommodating, they are rude, incompetent, and they have no respect for others time. My dog looked the same when he went in, they didn't even put a bandanna on him, my dog was anxious to get out of there- and he loves people and other dogs! The worse part- they have you pay prior to getting your dog, so you can't even double check all services were completed. Lastly, even before glow went in- the staff was very disrespectful in cooperating with us about his rabies certificate that WAS NOT EXPIRED? Even the Dr. Was put out and flabbergasted! I told them my dog was new to this and she's 5 years old. I told them to use a mussel cause of this incase she was scared I dropped her off at 1 and the guy called me at 2 and said she bit him. Come to find out she was in the kennel the whole time and when he tried to get her out she was scared and nibbed at him not a complete bite. I was so disappointed in this visit completely. Will never return. I now have to take her somewhere else and had to come home and brush her myself and having somewhere else groom and bathe her some more. read more

The folks at Pampered Pets are fine. For the person complaining about a dog urine smell, are you kidding? This is a kennel, not a restaurant. Mary and her staff work hard to keep the indoor area clean and it's not unusual to see them cleaning via the video cameras available to customers to monitor their pet while they are away. I've been taking our dog (now dogs) to Pampered Pets for 3 years and never once had an issue. Moreover, they have a large outside area where when the weather is good they can go out and burn some energy. They monitor how well dogs are interacting, and if needed, they move them around to pair up dogs that get along best together. We definitely recommend Pampered Pets!! read more

BUYER BEWARE: Under "Amenities and More" it says, "Staff wears masks." That is an outright lie. They most certainly DO NOT!! And they are very arrogant and rude to you if YOU wear one. The rude blonde girl who wears her mask under her nose is obnoxious and gets rude when you really don't want to get near her because she's wearing a chin diaper, not a mask. Then the EVEN RUDER brunette bitch with NO MASK AT ALL comes running up to check you out...I just threw my items, fish and all, on the counter and said, "You're not even wearing a mask. I'm not buying anything here again." "Okay! That's great! I'll put it back! Ha, ha ha!!!" she said. Then I saw the young male manager who was wearing a mask, and I thought he might actually give a damn. I could not have been more wrong. I told him I'd walked out because of the rudeness of the staff and not mask wearing. I was literally told to go shot elsewhere. When I told him I'd notify corporate, his response was, "Good luck stupid old man. They won't do a thing to me. Or the rest of my staff. Fuck off and have a nice day, asshole!," the manage yelled at me across the parking lot. It's all on store video. I also quit using their grooming spa long ago because, again, not one person in there was wearing a mask. And it's very closed, close quarters, not well ventilated....not enough for Covid or Omicron. These people basically don't give a damn about you or your health or safety. They will laugh in your face; think you're stupid for wearing a mask; and call you stupid and old. I over 60. That became illegal in Illinois to do that to someone my age as 01/01/2022. Maybe I should call an attorney and SUE them for: age discrimination; age harassment; and reckless endangerment. I could...so can you! And to think I always used to tip their groomers $20 and give donations to their pet charity every time I went, usually $5-$10. That's all done. I'll never shop at that crappy store again. I hope you don't, either. Oh...and under "Amenities....staff wear masks." That is legally false advertising. I had made a grooming appointment online. one of the questions asked about heartworms. I answered truthfully and said my dog had been diagnosed with heartworms. Then the app said an associate will ask more details. I never received a phone call so the morning of my dogs grooming appointment I called the store myself since I live an hour away And I have a very large dog. They informed me that my dog would not be able to keep appointment bc of heartworms. I told the associate I was glad that I called since I live an hour away. I gave the store a one star bc they were not going to call but Have me show up and then find out I drove an hour for no reason. We were VERY disappointed in our visit to Petsmart in Springfield, IL today. We went to purchase a 55 gallon fish tank and all the supplies. We asked the associate if we could have the one that was on a pallet and she said no because it wasn't part of their inventory yet. She said to come back tomorrow. We drove 40 miles to buy that and was told no. We then asked if we could buy the smaller 37 gallon and she said it was on the top shelf and the pallets were in the way so we would have to come back tomorrow. We asked why and she said that they couldn't get the pallets out of the way to get the forklift in the aisle!! We were very disappointed and furious. We will not be going back there! With that said..........Although this store is BIG and has a lot of selection and great customer service, their prices are VERY EXPENSIVE for pet supplies. I bought the cheapest cat scratching post that they had and it cost me $18. It was a SMALL, NO FRILLS scratching post. That is outrageous. I personally prefer this store over other pet stores for supplies. They have a nice cat adoption room. They price matched without any complaint with Walmart prices -Saved me a trip for litter. I like that the stock Bil Jack dog liver treats- both the dogs AND cats beg for them. Did I mention they priced match that too? The service is pretty consistently good quite honestly for the type of worker you experience in a facility like this- not meaning it bad, but it's true. I haven't had any experience where I've witnessed workers paying attention to each-other more than a customer, but honestly, it happens everywhere and is more a reflection about society today than anything else. If you want a pet boutique experience where you are pampered, go to a pet boutique. If you want people who will ask you questions if you look like you need but won't necessarily chase you from isle to isle Petsmart is that place. I don't see scared dogs there all the time either. Dogs behavior in many cases reflects their overall disposition, past experiences, or the owners lack of dog pack leadership. It's a good store with good layout and friendly employees. read more

She was sad wet and still full of clumps, I was told it would cost extra for a full comb out since she's a husky , I agreed , hours later I arrived to pick her up to find she was not finished. I was asked to walk around the store and wait while she finished 45 minutes later I was presented with the wet matted dog and charged full price. And it was obvious that they had mistreated her as she was shaking and kept her head down. I went into petsmart on September 29, 2016. I have to say that I am very impressed. I was greeted by all the staff. I found the store in excellent condition and there were no awful smells of any type. I started asking questions about the size of birdcages that I needed to have for a cockatiel to be my home. The man I spoke to was very nice. He answered all my questions and concerns. He knew exactly the type of cage that I needed. He recommended the type of toys for my cocktail to play with. Wish they had negative stars. I have had fairly good service here. However my dog is scared to death to come here and have noticed other dogs the same. I went today to get my dog shaved down for summer and had the paper work showing she was up to date on shots. Then the groomer I was talking said they can't groom them if they just had shots, but would go ask the manager. Of course the manager told her they can't groom her. I was very ticked off at this and said I would never be back and WILL NOT EVER go back. On the way back home, after wasting my lunch hour on this BS, I called and asked for the manager to make sure they canceled my appointment and I would not be charged. I also asked her how many hours after shots and she said 24-48 hours. I said it's been over 24 hours and I guess that's at her desecration and she decided today it's 48 hours. I have looked all over there website and there is nothing about "Must wait 24-48 hours after shots to get groomed". I will never set foot inside this Petsmart store or ANY other one. read more
