If you are experiencing a medical emergency after hours when your regular vet is not open, this is the place to go. They were very nice and solicitous. They partner with Bluebonnet Pet Crematorium to take in animals that have died, and Bluebonnet sends a van to pick up all the animals for cremation. It does take quite a while to happen but you can count on them. Animal Emergency treated our cat before she passed away, and then we took her after she had passed. They are just so nice here and willing to do anything to help you out. read more

Two years later, and they're still fantastic. One evening, Bucky started to have a case of diarrhea and lethargy. He would hide either under my bed or under the dining room table, neither of which were normal behavior for him. If I'm at my desk, he's in his bed next to it. If I'm on the couch, he's cuddled up next to me. Recognizing something was wrong, I took him to the Animal Emergency Room since it was after hours. (Babcock North is our primary vet) The two vet techs, a man and a woman, were super nice and helpful. The man in particular, I didn't get his name, did a great job making me feel calm and relaxed as they took Bucky to the back to run some tests. I was called into the exam room, where the vet told me Bucky likely had a bacterial infection, and prescribed a number of medicines, including antibiotics and probiotics. The female vet tech carefully went over how to administer all the medicines. Oh and one thing I was very grateful for - they were completely up front with the cost of the exam before we went in, and made sure I understood that the cost would go up if medicine was prescribed. Because if this, I didn't feel blindsided by the total cost of the visit. The clinic still takes CareCredit, which is a godsend. read more

Our little puppy has always had issues with anxiety when there's storms or fireworks. Today he hurt himself while we weren't home and pulled out one of his claws, he was bleeding pretty bad but thank goodness this ER was open and was able to take him in. They were able to to rinse off the blood,and bandage up his paw without any issues. Dr Robinson, Roberto and the front office lady were all super nice, empathic and helpful. Hopefully we wont ever need to be back but if we do we'll return here! read more

Brought our shih tzu here after she was attacked by a large dog. No one else was there at the time. We were seen quickly. They suggested we immediately give her a shot for pain relief which we did. Then the doctor explained what the issues were that we would be dealing with and suggested she stay for 4 to 6 hours for fluids and to deal with shock. They gave us an estimate of $800 for the treatment which seemed reasonable considering what they did. The doctor spoke clearly and seemed compassionate. The bill ended up being $17 more than $800, but we feel like all in all it was worth every penny. Thank you Dr. McGookey and staff. I've had bad experiences with a couple of the emergency vet clinics in town. This clinic is small but felt like home from the moment I called to get advice on my baby, Wilson Von Whiskers. He had been having a rough few days and we called our regular veterinarian Babcock North who referred us here for the weekend. The entire staff was amazing. Dr. G. Showed so much warmth and care for my fluffy boy I was blown away. Connor, our tech, really embodied what vets do daily and I know he is going to make an amazing veterinarian one day and I know we would be lucky to be his patients. Now I have to pay more money for my vet to complete the same test and give me a prescription. HORRIBLE.... Do not go here. My sweet boy got bit in the face by another dog, and suffered some puncture wounds and trauma very close to the eye. I called a few ER vets to see who could see him, and this place said to bring him on in although there may be a wait with other emergencies on the way. No problem. I arrived, checked in from the car, and was brought in once they had a room open. They took good care of my dog, despite there being sicker animals and sadder pet owners also being there. The receptionist, techs, and doctor were all so friendly, compassionate, and caring. I can't recommend this place enough! The price was lower than other ER's in the area, and close to what my normal vet would have charged. And to anyone reading this, BE NICE TO YOUR VET STAFF, especially in emergency! I cannot overstate how grateful I am for this place. My cat had been throwing up for days, not keeping down food or water. She wasn't using the litterbox, and though usually social she was lethargic and hiding away. I took her to Animal ER and they did an X ray and blood tests and found there was a magnet in her intestine. I had called around hospitals in Austin for an estimate but every quote was exceeding $4000 which just wasn't realistic for me. Animal ER did it for about 60% of the price and when refunded me at the end of surgery because there were some procedures they didn't need to do. They gave me a low and high estimate for the surgery and by the end of the operation I ended up paying less than the low estimate because of the refund. There was a very nice blonde receptionist who made me feel so comforted when I was crying over my pet and the doctor kept me updated frequently throughout the night. Nori is recovering now but she's walking around, purring, meowing and best of all eating and drinking. Thank you so much for prioritizing my cat's urgent issue. And thank you even more for offering it at a lower price than I was quoted at home. I really recommend this place. They are small so the amount of pets they can see is limited and if you come in on a day where more urgent cases are occurring you likely won't get help but that's how emergency rooms go. If I could leave no stars then I would. This is the absolute worst place to bring your pets. The vet not the staff had any type of compassion whatsoever. People are already going through a rough time with their pets and they don't make it any better. And also the only one person in the lobby rule is wild, even when there's no one else even there waiting. You can't even have someone with you to comfort you. If I could give ZERO stars I would! This was my first time ever having to bring a pet to an emergency room. This was the worst experience of my life. This emergency room had no sense of urgency. The doctor on call Dr. David Magookey had horrible bedside manner. Explaining things is his terms as if I understood any of what he was saying to me. No remorse whatsoever! My dog came in and needed emergency assistance my son and I sat there for about 30 minutes going back-and-forth with them talking all about money. I had whatever money they needed to fix my dog. I just needed "emergency professional veterinary services" to save my dog! In the end, even though they, as professionals, knew that I should put my dog to sleep, they kept pushing hospitalization for $1200 for 5 hours only and said I'd have to still take her back to regular vet. I was frantic and under a lot of distress so I paid $500 for them to still pick and poke at my dog, knowing that wasn't going to help her, then as soon as they were done, my dog was even more lifeless, i felt horrible to see my baby girl like that, so my son and i decided to euthanize her. At that point is when the doctor said, that's the best you can do for her! After I had just paid him $500 to do what he knew wouldn't help her at all! I asked how my h would that cost and he had the nerve to look at me and God as my witness said " IDK how much money do you have left? I'll take whatever, $50, I'll take $20!" That was the worst experience of my life. I've never had to put a dog down in my life and none of the staff that was there last night cared or showed any remorse or sense of urgency, for my dog. If only they would have worked as fast as they did to take my credit card to save my dog. She probably would be here today! I even got into it with the doctor because we were sitting in the room so long from after arriving, that I open the door and I see them all just sitting on their computers! when I say don't bring your dog here if it needs emergency care, don't do it! If I would've taken my dog elsewhere to another true emergency animal room , she would've had a chance. I firmly believe this. I thought Veterinarians got into this profession to care for animals, all they care about was getting paid. They didn't allow me to stay with her while in her final hours and that was so painful. We were forced to say quick goodbyes so they could euthanized her. I pray they did it quickly and didn't allow her to lay on that table in pain! Instead of asking question they just took my brothers word and didn't bother to even try to think of other things that it could of possibly been. They offered no help and lied to him multiple times. This place should be shut down! They said they would call if he got worse or no change and that if he didn't get a call it was a good sign. I woke up thinking I was gonna see my amaru getting better instead they fed us false hope. Tonight an accident happened. I was grooming my dog at home and was removing a matte behind his ear and cut straight through his skin. Although it was not bleeding, the skin hanging with the matte was concerning. I walked into VCA Becker Animal Hospital and had a four hour waiting period. After calming down, I found Animal Emergency Room. I wish I had gotten the name of the receptionist and the nurse, but they were absolutely amazing. The waiting area was clean and welcoming and just all around made me and my Golden Rip, feel completely comfortable. Point being, Vet David McGookey and his staff surpassed my expectations. This is was the BEST Vet service I've ever received. I wish I could make them my Goldens lifetime vets, I am so eager to see them again in 10 days to get his staples removed. They are so inviting and listen to your wishes, cost efficient and straight to the point without all of the unnecessary hassle. please trust me, if you love your pets and want them to have the best care/chance of survival DO NOT take them here. These people should be ashamed of themselves and sued! It doesn't matter how serious of a condition your pets are in, take the longer drive for actual proper care!! They'd rather get paid for doing the bare minimum than to actually get to the root of the problem and give them their best shot at making it. They are also extremely rude, lazy, and you can hear them laughing/playing around in the back the whole time. My boyfriend's dog was vomiting, had sudden behavioral changes, and had a seizure not long before taking him in and they immediately said it was a heat stroke and treated my boyfriend horribly as if he did it intentionally or neglected him. They said it was best to ''just put him down'' but eventually agreed to care for the dog overnight. They charged $1400 only for us to find out that next morning that not only is his dog in worse condition but all they did was test his vitamin levels and give him anti seizure medicine? That's all? For $1,400?? I understand some situations might be tricky to identify and handle but to not even try? They brought him into a different vet, who immediately recognized it was poisoning, knew what it was from, and suggested tests to confirm it and quickly move to the next step as for this particular situation, time is everything to save their life!! But by this point it was pretty much too late. We have never dealt with poisoning and brought him in as soon as his symptoms became apparent. I googled the symptoms as well after speaking with the second vet and it describes every symptom in the exact order his dog had them in. So what could possibly be the reason Dr. McGooky did not recognize this or even see it as an option to test for knowing the further it progresses, the less chance there is of survival? if this was caught sooner, our baby Amaru could still be alive. How can you treat only one symptom (3 seizures in a span of 12 hours while with them) for an animal but not do proper testing to do the correct treatment? What does that do? I was told they were ''busy.'' When I spoke with the other doctor (a woman) I asked what testings/treatments were done to clarify the issue and treat it and she said nothing other than the vitamin levels? Which told nothing. Then she agreed it sounded like poisoning and that a different approach should've been taken even though it was already too late? We trusted them only for them to waste time neglecting him and allowing it to seep into his brain and eventually to his kidneys as they failed as well. This could be anyone else's pet and although it's too late for Amaru, I pray this review can save someone else's at the very least. Go literally anywhere else unless you just need your animal put down! We will be taking further action as this place should not be in business and the doctors should find another profession immediately. Absolutely sad and disgusting. read more

Do not bring your animal here to be taken care of!!! My nephew came and brought his dog to be rescued because he thought he was sick from the heat, only to be let down. The solution they had was to just put him down, when in fact after taking Amaru elsewhere, the results would have been different if they would have known what they were doing, he would of had a great chance of living if detected right away. They were treating him for something which was not the problem.they took over 1400$ only to inject him with medicine off of assumption when in fact they knew there was a chance of him being sick from poison and instead of doing what they could to save a life and just be straight up and didn't know and say that instead of insisting he stay the night, he could still be here today . I needed assistance with my dog, Beau and Rich was extremely helpful over the phone and calmed me down by providing basic first aide before I could get to the clinic. When I arrived at the clinic, he greeted me and Kim, the nurse came out to assess the situation. She explained the pricing and procedures to me and different routes of care they could take. It has been about 6 months since I had to bring my chocolate lab here on Christmas Day! He got a nasty gash on his belly being a mischievous pup and needed medical attention ASAP. Searched 24 hour animal emergency and this place came up. I am pretty big on reviews and it seems this place is 50/50. I'm a gambler and pretty much had no other choice, it being Christmas Day an all. I called to double check they were there and yup, got an actual person to pick up. Drove down there and the staff was welcoming and understanding. They took my lab straight to the back. Got paper work ready, went into a private room and a very nice doctor spoke to us about the damage and diagnoses. 40 stitches and 5 hours later my pup was out and walking on his own power. He even removed a drain tube and we had to go back a few days later. They did an outstanding job over all. I recommend all my dog owner friends here when ever an emergency comes up. read more

I wish I could give negative stars! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! THIS WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE! They wasted the last few hours of my babies life. I should never have taken him there and trusted them with his precious life. My 12 year old lab suddenly had trouble walking with his back leg and seemed to be dehydrated, but was still coherent and acting like himself. They took him to he back to get him on fluids, waited atleast an hour and then called us into a room to get us to sign an estimate for $2,000! They hadn't even put him on fluids!!! They literally wasted his time! Everyone seemed off and creepy. They sent one creepy person in after another to try to get us to agree and sign papers for different fees. I've been to all different vets between my rescues babies and all of the fosters we have had over the years, I've never seen an office so worried about money over anything. The first person came in and asked how much we had to spend, said it looked like he had heatstroke (he's an indoor in the ac dog) or distemper. The main vet seemed to be exhausted or medicated, his eyes kept closing as he talked. He tried to tell me "with Zack's history this has to be an infection and if we don't treat him right now he will die". What history? He knows nothing of Zack or what he's been through and hadn't done any tests and still hadn't put him on fluids. We said we would take him home and have our vet check him, by then we weren't trusting them at all. The sleepy vet came back in and said it had to be internal bleeding, but again, no tests, just guessing. He kept telling us how Zack was going to die and if we weren't going to treat him we needed to put him down!!!! We finally got them to release him after hours of denying to sign different estimates for treatments they pulled out of nowhere. Zack was not the same as when he went in. Maybe fluids wouldn't have saved him, but they would have lowered his fever and made him feel a little more comfortable. We took our now weak and exhausted baby home and he died about an hour later. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! They only care about money. It was like a freak show, the sleepy vet, the seemingly iced out staff bouncing around and accomplishing nothing. No concern, no empathy, no level of care any furbaby in need should ever experience. I took off the gauze they had wrapped around his ankle and found they shaved him but there was no puncture wound. A sketchy place to say the least. I came here on a Sunday evening when my dog was vomitting and pooping blood. Once I walked in, the receptionist asked me what my pets symptoms were and ASSUMED he had Parvo. First of all, I was not happy that a receptionist (not even a vet tech) had said this to me, as I was extremely worried the entire time I sat in the waiting room. The vet technician took a brief history and obtained information from me. After waiting 30 plus minutes, finally the vet came in, dressed in grubby clothes chewing some type of food. But, she got better and we are happy with the care. We were checked in right away and my family and I went to breakfast while we waited for her results. This place is a real dump. MY DOG WAS INJURED AT "GREEN DOG DOG DAY CARE" (see review of them) They told me this was the emergency room they would take him to. i got there before my dog did and was immediately put off by the facility and the staff. i walked in alone-the receptionist told me to go get my animal... i explained i was meeting them there and they had not arrived yet- so he handed me a form to fill out that included ss# and drivers license number as a requirement to be seen. i explained i would be paying with a credit card and there was no need for that information- he insisted the drivers license number WAS required. i refused saying that i would show them my license to confirm the cc was mine but i would not allow them to take the number down. he went to the back room- i guess to ask if it was okay. they decided it was i suppose since it was not mentioned again. my dog was finally brought to this facility by the doggy day care staff. i started to notice as i was waiting the place was filthy. it stunk like anal glands. the floors were dirty, there was poop on the bathroom -type throw rug in front of the door, (diarrhea?) and honestly, with out getting too personal- I wondered why the staff all seemed so "tweaky." i tried to keep an open mind, i admit i must be VERY discerning person because i expect things in medical facilities to be clean and the staff to be professional. when the first male tech came out to "triage" my dog he announced "that's not life threatening- you'll need to wait a while!"- uh okay. so we waited. the second staff member came out to get my dog for vitals and of course he was frightened, so my dog barked at the man who literally shouted "hey!" at my injured animal in a very gruff voice. i made up an excuse for the dog, "he does not know anyone with a beard." so he left. we waited.... eventually a woman came out to get my dog for vitals and said she would take him to the back room for this. i requested since my dog was so scared that they wait and do it when we got into a room... so i waited, and waited. finally a very "nervous?" female tech came and got us. we went into the room and she explained "since we are so nice we will take the dog's vital signs in here, not in the back room" - i held my tongue. she took his vital signs with out the aid of a stethoscope and noted the numbers ON A KLEENEX!!!!!! (i could not make this up if i tried!) again, everything inside me was telling me to get out of there, but not wanting to be rude, i waited for the doctor. the doctor came in, never introduced herself, but proceeded to say they needed to do general anesthesia to give my dog stitches. i was shocked. i asked, really? is that normal procedure? she looked at me like i was a fool and rolled her eyes... her reply? "uh... yeah!" she essentially said "DUH!?" i agreed he needed stitches but general anesthesia was not needed. she left and the original girl who used a Kleenex as her patient form came in with an estimate sheet. the estimate for treatment was between $480. and $695. she asked which one i would like to pay. i said, I would like to pay what it costs, it does not matter how much it will be. just treat him and i'll pay whatever it is. "no, you have to pay one of these amounts before we will treat him. if you pick the smaller amount and it turns out to be more we will charge you again, if you pick the larger one and it turns out to be less we will refund your card." I explained i was very accustomed to the "estimate" procedure of emergency vet care and i usually signed an agreement to pay somewhere in a specified range, they treated the animal and then i pay the actual costs. "no, that's not how we do it here." i refused this strange policy and said i would happily pay the actual costs but would not do this credit card payment in this way. she left the room and the vet came back in... the vet explained that since we do not have a previous relationship that was how they were going to do it. pay first. I declined. i asked her if she really expected me to run out with the dog once he was treated with out paying her. she said, "i don't know you. this is our policy." i told her i had been to many emergency clinics with my animals over many years and this was the least professional filthiest place i had ever been. i declined all treatment, called our regular vet - left a message and got a call back in 15 minutes (ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON) she asked me to text her a photo of the injury, i did and she assured me he would be fine until the next morning, and she would stitch him up if i dropped him off before i went to university the next morning. i paid $65. for this "office visit" at this filthy place and wasted almost 3 hours. as a side note: the price was not shocking- i have paid more and i have paid less for emergency vet care- but you think they could have bought some patient folders and bleach if they're going to charge a "typical" vet emergency fee. read more

I was not very satisfied with my experience at this ER. I am appreciative of the help I received from the receptionist & the vet tech, Kim. However, the vet herself was not very personable nor compassionate. I took my dog here because he was not acting like himself. They tested him for parvo & it came out positive. The vet asked me what my budget was & when I told her she responded by saying that they would be very limited in what they could for my dog with that kind of budget. However, it was the way she said it that did not rub me the right way & made it seem like she wasn't very understanding that not everyone is financially in a place where they can just drop money without thinking about it first. Of course I'm going to do whatever I can for my dog for him to get better. But financially I need to figure things out first. To me it was kind of like well if you can't pay then why did you even come? I understand that the ER is expensive & to get extra care on top of the exam fee it would cost a decent amount of money. I am fully aware of that. But it just seemed like the less money I was willing to put down or able to pay, then the less they cared about trying to help me or my dog. It seemed like money was the main priority. On top of that, I took my dog to our normal vet where he was retested for parvo & his test came out negative. We were visiting from out of town. Our little dogs health had spiralled downwards bad, so we drove to the nearest Animal ER at this location. We were panicked. I asked the male receptionist to have the Vet start her on IV as we start the paperwork and questions on health timebeing. He scoffed in a rude laugh, which rubbed us wrong. The assistant asked if she'd eaten/chewed on a palm tree (as its toxic) and we know she didnt nor had been around one. The Vet was convinced it had to be..and kept stuck on that possibility. She was in Grave need of urgent medical care, however, the Vet didn't seem bothered by that as much as payment of $800 had to be made first & completed Before he would start anything. That was his statement. We asked what the medical procedures would be etc, and Vet refused to answer any of them, simply stating over & over again 'We won't start anything until the $800 payment is paid now, and then tests are done . We are aware tests are needed, but our questions on what procedure/Treatment, was Ignored. A Parent is always Informed of whats going to be done at a Human ER, heck, ever our regular Vetenarian. But not here. He was cold, kept insisting on payment first and circled around answering our questions. It turned into a 'Euthenasia would be best otherwise" by the Vet, if we didn't have payment upfront. We were Never Informed of a Payment plan or further work. The Older Male receptionist who was in charge of this, Failed to bring this up to us as a resource/Option! In our panic, We are not thinking of what options there are. Their protocol is 'pay upfront, leave a card on file' and scaring the life out us and our Darling Dogs life! Informing the client of Options is not their business aparently. This Review is not about Money. It was a Heartless place, lack of Informing the Parents, Disregard for transparency, Honesty and Your Pets wellbeing. This Vet was cold, only words he cared to repeat was pay up front or Euthenasia. Also, here, to be present with your Animal to see them off with Euthenasia, will cost you more, than not be present with them. Insanity! THis is the most Precious goodbye & Honorable moment to let them go, which this ER takes Advantage of people. We walked into a Nightmare. If there was a half star, it woudn't sum up the traumatic experience and lack of care. This place needs to be shut down so more room can be made for better hospitals. None of the staff there deserve their position or paycheck. GO TO EMERGENCY PET CLINIC 8503 Broadway St instead. My 8lb puppy ate half a large bag of hamster feed that contained nuts and raisins. She had bloat, stomach pain, was crying, vomiting and spewing hundreds of seeds. I rushed her into this clinic and the first thing that struck me were the two stray cats roaming around their lobby. It was completely unprofessional and ridiculous. I know plenty of people that are severely allergic to cats and a friend who's terrified of them. All of these people wouldn't be able to bring their animals in if they had an emergency because of this. And yes, the cats do come up to you and rub against you. As I was filling out information for my 10 wk puppy for poison control and on the verge of tears due to stress one of the nurses actually tried to get me interested in adopting one of the cats. I was shocked at the tone deafness of the situation. The front desk tried her best at being friendly but when she recommended I transfer my puppy to a 24/7 hospital in the morning she couldn't give me any information on the hospital. I asked if she thought they were a good place since they were strongly encouraging me to go there and she gave me an unsure "well...everyone has their own opinions so I couldn't say." Then find a place you recommend instead of referring patients to a place with poor care quality? I also tried asking if she could call two hospitals I had chosen for transfer care to send medical records information to both of them but she seemed confused. She told me for the night my puppy would be left alone in a kennel with an IV and it would be a pretty traumatic experience for her (compared to the second hospital that I went to who held and supported her before and during tests and monitored her every hour during treatment and allowed anytime visitation). While I waited to be seen for 30 minutes I could hear my puppy whimpering and whining in pain in the back while all the staff cooed around her that she was so cute. They seemed completely numb to how scary and serious the situation was. It's rare that I'm "icked" out by anyone but the sheer sliminess from the vet made me reconsider putting her into care there at all. If not for the time crunch I would've taken her somewhere else and I would've been a lot more upfront about how I felt about their behavior if I genuinely didn't think it would result in malpractice and endangerment of my dog. After waiting a while he came in still laughing at a joke his staff had told him in the back, smiled casually at me while I was distressed with the condition of my puppy who was now laying on her side panting heavily and gave me some information on what was going to happen. He kept going off topic while we were speaking and eventually I needed to say "I would like to continue this conversation after I've paid so you can start treatment on my puppy." He seemed bewildered that I would say that so I added, "I'm not sure how severe her condition is. Unless you think we can afford to still be talking right now and she's okay to wait." To which he replied, "Oh well yeah she's definitely in danger. Definitely shouldn't wait more than an hour before starting her treatment." (Which I'd already been there for 40 minutes) He was completely oblivious to how poor his quality of care was and seemed like he had better things to do. He also recommended the same 24hr vet to me but couldn't vouch for the integrity of their care. When I picked her up he recommended taking me to my primary vet but it didn't open for another two hours so I asked if she would be okay until then. He said yes and when I asked how long she could safely be off treatment if I needed to wait a few more hours before they had an opening, he just said "well start back as soon as possible." Which didn't answer my question. So I needed to ask again a few more times before he told me 6 hrs. Another thing was the unnecessary argumentativeness of the staff. When I said I would have her transferred to Emergency Pet Clinic they told me it wasn't 24 hrs and we continued disagreeing back and forth before I repeated, "No. I went there last night after I dropped her off and spoke to them in person. I've also been there before." Which is when they called and then said "oh it does say 24 hrs." None of the staff seemed confident in their knowledge of animal care. When I picked my puppy up he told me "Yeah she cried all night in the kennel. She's really spoiled." I paid $640 for them to give subpar care for 4 hours. When I went to Emergency Pet Clinic I paid $1300 for 36 hours, excellently trained and professional staff and doctors. For those of you who read to the end I want you to know that regardless of your satisfaction with this hospital or not, there are better options with better prices and better quality. read more

Unethical practice. Took my dog in as he was bleeding non-stop from another dog attacking him. My dog began to cough and shake. The staff were making snide remarks about how taking him to another hospital would mean double the wait time and that his injuries were minor. Also how my puppy was a Doberman and he should've fought back, or if that wasn't enough to sell it. They asked if we wanted to see the dying dog in the back. I highly recommend to save your time and avoid this clinic. If you love your fur baby take them to Becker and they will take care of you instantly. read more

Very awesome staff! Couldn't have asked for better. Brought my dog in last night about 8:30pm, left within an hour. They saw us right away. The entire staff, especially Gretchen were very nice, professional and knowledgable. They also have a friendly cat that just lounges there. She was like a de-stressor for us. Affordable bill considering it is was an emergency visit. Will definitely come back again in case anything happens in the future. read more

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of this place. I adopted a pet from SAPA with a broken leg and was sent here for a check up and x-rays. They were pretty busy all of a sudden with a very sad case and the vet came off as a bit terse when she was meeting with me, however when I came back in to pick up my dog, she had calmed down a bit and was very nice. It's hard to have a job where you see animal mistreatment and have to keep your cool at the same time. They see a lot of that here and do the best they can for the general public. read more

I am so grateful for the staff at Animal E.R.! On Saturday, I woke up to find my kitty yowling in pain. I immediately looked up a place online and found this place. After calling to find out exactly where they were located, I rushed him over there. From the phone call alone, the staff was prepared to receive my little buddy. The attending vet was very helpful, explaining what was happening to my cat and what needed to be done. I was also informed about the cost associated with the procedures required. In addition, while I waited in the lobby, I got to play with their two lobby kitties, which comforted me. It was pricey, but hey, that's the cost of pet ownership. If you're not willing to fork over money when they get sick, you shouldn't own a pet. The only complaint I have is that the location is kind of difficult to see. I passed it two or three times before finding it. Other than that, I am so glad that I found this place! read more

This happened Sunday august 1st 2021 approximately 6:00 pm : I want to thank you all for being so caring about our boxer Moe : we called you guys you said bring him right in : he was having seizures and then he had a stroke : when we were just minutes away from our arrival I called they we're waiting outside with A stretcher brought him right in : they were so comforting and said that he is not responding to anything it better to let him go : the words I didn't want here but they talked us through everything and it didn't make it any easier but they were all there and gave us time alone with him to say our good bye: hardest thing to decide but he closed his eyes and we new he was going to the rainbow bridge peacefully: then they said they would do a print of his paws and nose print to take with us which was so very nice to give us : we decided to get a wooded box for his ashes to bring home : He was our baby boy of 11 years old boxer: thank you for all that did for us words can't say how much appreciate you being honest and so caring for our baby! I had a mixed experience at this place. Dr. Schweers was very professional and took care of my pet. When I returned later, Dr. McGookey was rude and impatient. He actually seemed like he had better things to do and dismissed me and my pet. I would steer clear of this apathetic and indifferent man! read more

These guys possibly saved my dog's life. We've been dealing with mice/rats in our house for about a year now, and our 8 year old basset somehow found a block of poison. He ate the whole thing, and after we failed to get him to throw up using peroxide we decided to go to the ER. It was after 10pm on a Tuesday night and this was really our only option. When we got there, the vet was very attentive and concerned. She quickly called the poison hotline and found out there wasn't an antidote for the particular type of poison he ingested. She told us we had done really all there was to do already, but we clarified that he only threw up a very small amount and we knew there was more in there. She seemed to not want to do or charge us for anything we didn't absolutely need - which is really nice. A lot of animal clinics charge you for just about everything. She could tell we were still worried and really wanted us to be assured, so she offered to get him to vomit again with an injection. We agreed, signed paperwork, and paid. Yes, some people are annoyed by having to pay first, but we didn't mind. The price was much more reasonable than we expected for emergency services (less than $220). The vet was able to get our dog to vomit and even showed us the pad he threw up on so we knew it was all out and what it contained. (Gross but a mother needs to know these things.) A couple days later, the clinic called to follow up. This is what compelled me to write a review. These people clearly cared about our dog and our peace of mind. The follow up call was a really nice gesture. Our regular vet office didn't even do that when something similar happened once before. My reason for less than 5 stars is simply because the office was old and needed new floors. Obviously sick pets had messed on the floors and the smell and stains were nearly permanent, but it is time to update and install a floor that is more suited for animal messes. read more
