100/10. Would recommend this place to anyone who has a sweet baby with an eye issue. We have a 130lb Rottweiler who got an ulcer on his eye that ended up getting severely infected. As one might guess, "extremely difficult" doesn't even begin to explain the efforts trying to get eye drops/medication into a 130lb-all muscle- dogs sensitive eye. Due to swelling, our inability to successfully get the medication in his eyeball (even with a healthy dose of sedative & pain meds), it took us little over a month to finally get good news today at our appt that his eye has improved. I tell the whole story just to say it was very stressful, we really thought we were going to go though all this time, energy and money for nothing after so long of not seeing improvements - we thought the worst. We were dealing with all of this too, while I'm 6 months pregnant..... and from start to finish, there is nowhere else we would have rather been to get through this; The receptionists who greet you and answer the phones when you call are just the sweetest ever and you can tell as soon as you walk in that they genuinely care, the whole team who was in there supporting us trying to look at his eye (so sorry for his feisty attitude at the start of that part at every visit), the doctors (shout out Doctor Tatiane), who were so patient with him, so understanding, explained every step along the way and worked with us on a plan that would be best for us, the whole team (like 4-5 people came out) who helped me load him up safely into my SUV while he was still pretty sedated, and the couple weekend emails that got answered same day. I'm sure I'm missing some positive details but in summary we hope to not have any eye issues ever again...but if we do, we will be back. Absolutely terrible!! I feel so cheated and lied to. This place quoted me $1300 for a double entropion eye surgery for my cat. I was VERY clear what his condition was, his health, his medical history and prior specialist appointments. Additionally, despite sharing his medical records from another specialist in advance of his apt and confirming they had no concerns, they asked me to come in so they can take a look at him, I agree as I understand it's their policy. JUST FOR THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE CAT WAS $250. To reconfirm what his medical records already said!!! On top of that, the quote changed DRASTICALLY from $1300 to $2300. even though they told me that the $1300 included EVERYTHING, the apt, the bloodwork, the surgery, and the post care. I can't believe this place and how unethical it is... I took two hours off of work drove 60 miles round-trip and wasted $250 for absolutely nothing.. I'm thankful specialty stores like this exists. However the prices are ridiculous and I never even met the doctor. They make you wait in the car and the doctor gives you a call on the phone. I went to check my old girls eye pressures since they were a bit off the day I saw my regular vet. The first time I went my call was less than 10 minutes and my visit was over $300!! The second time I went the call was less than 2 minutes and it was over $200!!!! Then they're telling me to come back and 3 months and I said I already did... So then he's like "oh OK then come back in 6"... and it just seemed like they were trying to keep people coming back to charge their high prices and not even meet the dog owners. He was just putting me on some arbitrary rotation. 3 mos. 6 mos. ... it's like regardless of the issue they want you coming back. And he forgot about when he saw us last - look at my chart at the least ... they don't even let us go in to be with our dog during the exam. Both times they reported my dogs eyes were healthy and there were no issues but they just wanted me to keep coming back. It's a scam if you ask me. At least for my dog, I was NOT impressed with their quality of care, bedside manner, prices or procedures. I've paid over $500 to this place for a total of 10-15 minutes if their time. Absolutely not a fan. As a person that ran rescues for many years in michigan I was extremely disappointed in this practice. The first time I took my daughter's dog was during covid. They have you call when there and send someone out for the dog. I thought this would just be discontinued. Once Covid was over . Nope , You can wait in the waiting room but the doctor calls my daughter with info after payment is made. I asked to be included on results of the visit and was directed to have my daughter set up a three way call. Before I could contact the appointment and results given to her. As the person providing care I asked the tech that handed me the dog questions that honestly would of better asked to the vet that hopefully actually examined her- but who knows what was actually done when they do it behind closed doors. I was treated respectively and condescending. I took my own dog to another eye specialist a couple years ago and ANIMAL EYE specialist of Orlando. That exam was done in front of me with an extensive consultation with the doctor. For a fraction of the cost. The only reason my daughter's dog came here was because that's where she had surgery prior. I'm sorry this was just a money grab with very little care for the Pet or the caretakers for that pet. $300 for a 5 min appointment they took more time to take payment than the entire exam! My dog has had a melting ulcer in his eye and I was sent to the opthamologist for treatment. They opted for a surgery the next day, but found that with his heart arythmia that wouldn't be the best option. They loaded us up with medicine and also have an emergency number. The still have curb side service, so once you arrive, you call and talk to the receptionist, then the vet tech who comes to get your pup. The doctor then examines the dog and calls you with your options. Then the tech calls you back to give instructions, take payment and return your dog. The prices are higer than normal vets, but just like with human specialists. I am glad we have them in our area and they work easily with your regular vets. Now we are going back every 6 weeks to make sure everything is healing properly. I am very thankful for them saving my dogs eye. read more

I can't give enough stars to these amazing people! I'll try to keep it as short as I can. Last weekend my 16 year old cat suddenly lost vision. Her pupils were completely dilated and not reacting to light at all. She was bumping into things, couldn't jump up on the furniture to snuggle me anymore. I was devastated. I had read that in older cats, fairly commonly their retinas detach from high BP or a variety of other illnesses. But I also read that detached retinas can heal if treated quickly enough. I posted on the internet looking for the best local vet to take her too. I ended up going to the one that opened earliest. This doctor completely dismissed my concerns about detached retinas and didn't even take her blood pressure. Basically insisted that detached retinas weren't even a possibility. Told me she had a stroke, and that was that. I sadly updated the Facebook group I had posted in. An absolute ANGEL then sent me a private message. Her name is Heidi and she works as a Vet Tech at Animal Eye Associates. She validated my concerns about her retinas and urged me to get a second opinion at her facility. She helped me get an appointment the very next day at the Maitland office. Not to mention talking with me at length, on her off time, helping me calm my fears and understand the process. She went way above and beyond for me and my Chloe. At our appointment, Doctor Denis was amazing. Very thorough and took time to explain everything to me. The nurse was amazing at keeping my scared kitty calm to get the tests done she needed. As it turned out, Chloe's retinas were both detached. Due to high blood pressure. Dr. Denis prescribed the medication she needed and her staff helped me get it for FREE at Publix, when they could have easily urged me to get it at their office for a cost. Because of Heidi and Dr. Denis and all their staff, my old girl has a chance to see again! I've already seen improvements in her. Her eyes are reacting to light! And I know she's more comfortable now having the medication she needs. I can't thank them all enough. I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking to help their best furry friend. I will be forever grateful to Heidi for reaching out to a complete stranger to give a helping hand. If it wasn't for her I would never have even known such a specialist existed. Thank you Heidi! Here we are snuggling after she was able to jump up to me on the couch again, a huge improvement after just 4 days! Don't hesitate lyour pets here if they have any eye problems. I told them I needed a refill on a drug sent to a different pharmacy as soon as possible that it was an emergency and all they could tell me was it will get done this morning or in other words we will get to it when we get to it. Don't take your dog to Dr. Daniel Priehs at Animal Eye Associates in Maitland, Florida! He totally blinded my dog! I brought my dog to Animal Eye in Maitland because his cataracts were starting to interfere with his vision. He could still see but it was becoming more and more difficult for him. He is an older dog and I realized that there were risks for complications but I decided to take him there to see if they could help him see better. Dr. Priehs examined him and did several expensive tests, costing over $1,000.00, and told me that my dog would be a good candidate for cataract removal with a lens implant. Unfortunately my dog's retina detached a couple of days after the surgery, which left him completely blind in that eye. Dr. Priehs told me that my dog had unfortunately fallen into the 5% of cases that has this kind of result. There was supposedly a 95% chance that he would do well. I took it in stride and asked Dr. Priehs about the chance of doing the other eye in order to restore his sight. Dr. Priehs also told me there would be a slightly increased risk of the other eye's retina detaching since it had happened to the first one. I asked him how much of an increased risk and he told me it would be another 5% risk, making it a 90% chance that it would not happened to the other eye. With that we went ahead with the other eye in hopes of restoring his sight. The second eye's retina detached and this left my dog completely blind. I spent over $7,000.00 for these two surgeries and put my dog through it ending up with nothing but a completely blinded dog, much worse than with the cataracts! He can no longer run and bumps into things all the time. I have to carry him from place to place and sometimes must hand feed him. It is a lot of work and so discouraging since my dog was very socially active prior to all this. After talking with other veterinarians and physicians I have come to realize that the risks were much higher than 5-10%. I feel cheated and lied to and I wonder if it was all just a money grab by Dr. Priehs and Animal Eye Associates. read more

He did surgery on my cocker spaniel and gave her sight back in one eye for a month and then glaucoma set in and now she is blind. He said after almost 3000.00 dollars that her breed was prone to this happening. Thanks for nothing. read more

Omg if I could give this place ten stars, I would. So, one Wednesday in mid July, my Mr. Stankins all of a sudden couldn't see very well. Then the next day he was in a lot of pain. I took him to his regular vet which prescribed some meds, but also told me to take him to Animal Eye. I was able to get him in the same day I called. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, the technician was really nice and gentle with Stinky, and Dr. Church did a thorough exam. Between her findings on exam coupled with Stinky's blood work I had done a couple weeks earlier, she was suspicious that there was something more serious going on. She called over to AVS to see if they could squeeze us in to see an internal medicine specialist and they could, so we walked over. It was there that they told me they were suspicious of cancer. Since then he has been definitively diagnosed with multiple myeloma and has been started on treatment and is feeling much better. If it weren't for Dr. Church's knowledge and quick thinking, Stinky's diagnoses would have been further delayed. I have since been back to Animal Eye seven times and I think I've met all the staff by now. Dr. Priehs, Dr. Denis, and Dr. Church are all awesome, as is all the receptionists and technicians. They even go out of their way to find coupons online for the medicines they prescribe, which has helped me immensely. If your four legged kid is suffering from an eye problem, I would definitely recommend Animal Eye Associates. read more

First visit today to treat my dog's eye. 4 stars for their very professional and friendly staff. However, I give them only 1 star regarding their charges for medicine. Charged $55 for a tube of Triamycin ointment that can be purchased on Amazon for $19, and $34 for eye drops that can be purchased for $19 elsewhere. Sorry, but that kind of markup equates to highway robbery! You shouldn't be taking advantage of people who are trying to take care of their pet's health. read more

Animal Eye Associates is by far and away the standard for eye care for your pets. My "four legged son" Tyler has been seeing Dr Denis for the last year and the Dr's and staff there have all been fantastic. Dr Denis makes you feel so calm and relaxed and clearly is the best in the profession. She is extremely knowledgeable and explains everything very clearly and helps you to understand what to expect and what to watch out for. Tyler has cataracts and she has been helping us to manage the situation with special drops. Unfortunately he's not a candidate for removal of the cataracts because of his age and kidney problems but if he was I would trust Dr Denis to do the surgery in a heartbeat! read more

We have been seeing Dr. Priehs with our basset hound for 7-monts for treating glaucoma in one of her eyes. The initial treatment was laser surgery and now treating with drops and preventive measures on the other eye. Just had a follow-up appointment today everyone is always friendly, helpful, and our dog loves the trip in the car to see them every couple months. Highly recommend! read more

I took my cat there for the first time on 5-11-16. I was so very impressed. First, I was seen right on time. No waiting. The office is clean, staff very friendly and Dr. Priehs was wonderful. He diagnosed Lola's problem right off and took the time time explain what her condition was. Medicine was provided and we began to see improvement in her eye within 24 hours. She has a follow up appt scheduled and I have utmost confidence that her eye condition will be resolved. Great practice! read more
