    My 19.5 year old Chihuahua

This office is so amazing. They were happy to see my dog and exam him, even though he is so old. He wasn't a candidate for surgery but they did prescribe him eye drops and they seem to be working. I'm so grateful that they took the time to see him, even though he is older. Thank you much. I also found the visit and the eye drops to be reasonably priced.

I first went to Dr. Fife in June of 2022 after my Vet said Brinkley had immature cataracts. She actually initially recommend another Dog Ophthalmologist but after reading reviews I decided to go with Dr. Fife instead. My first and only child is a Chihuahua named Brinkley. He will be 15 in July of 2023. Other than his eyes, and some hearing loss, he's in excellent condition. During the initial visit in June of 2022, Dr. Fife basically said his cataracts were not bad enough to go through with surgery at that time because with cataract surgery come lots of risks. Today 2/20/23 we went back for a recheck as they recommend in 6 months but more so because I was noticing more vision issues, most noticeable flinching/twitching when the sun shines in his eyes or sometimes when I go to pet him. During todays visit, Dr. Fife said his cataracts have progressed from 50% to more like 50-75% which was disappointing to hear but most importantly he believed the flinching/twitching I was describing was due to progressing dementia. He said dementia patients often have increased sensitivity to light and even if he did surgery on his eyes, the issues I am having may not go away due to the dementia. He also said dementia patients often have trouble with the anesthesia. It was very hard to hear that my first child has something that there is no cure for, but I do appreciate Dr. Fife's honesty and not trying to sell me cataract surgery just so they can make some money. I think Dr. Fife knows what he is doing and I highly recommend him if you have any issues with your dog's vision. Although it appears he's not going to be able to do anything for my baby, I will sing Dr. Fife's praises to everyone I know and if I have another dog in the future that has any type of eye issue, I will most definitely be back. Additionally, the office staff is friendly and they are on time! I drove all the way from Ormond Beach to see Dr. Fife and had to take the day off work but his expertise was worth it! I wanted to be sure to write this review so others can feel good about choosing this practice as I know I rely on reviews heavily especially when it comes to taking my baby somewhere.

Before surgery - could hardly open eyes due to pain and discomfort.

There should be 10 stars for this place! My 90 pounds, six-month-old lab puppy was recommended to Dr. Fife. My puppy had inflamed eyes and kept rubbing her eye constantly. Poor thing couldn't even open her eyes. The nurse and staff - what can I say - they were amazing all by themselves. Throw in Dr. Fife and you have a well-oiled machine! My puppy just melted when Dr. Fife came in - he is definitely a dog person. Dr. Fife quickly diagnosed my dog with bilateral Entropion. The doctor took pictures and immediately showed me the problem. Surgery was needed. He is very knowledgeable, has excellent credentials and I felt confident to leave my dogs eye surgery to him. Luckely, we got there before any damage to the corneas. We were able to schedule the surgery within two weeks. Her recovery went smoothly, and results are fantastic. She is no longer in pain and her eyes are beautiful and wide open! When we went to the follow up appointment my puppy acted like she remembered the staff and how they collectively saved her eyesight and made her pain free - by wagging her tail so hard she couldn't walk straight and as soon as Dr. Fife walked in the exam room, she immediately laid on her back for a belly rub! lol I highly recommend.

At our first visit, when my dog's eyesight was quite bad

Thank you Dr. Fife for saving my dog's eyesight! I had taken him to several vets & they weren't sure what was wrong, but Dr Fife took one look at my dog & knew exactly what was wrong. His eyes are almost completely clear now & he saved my dog from going blind!

My experience - extremely long wait. The pricing is insane but they are your babies so you basically just take a deep breath and sign away. My animal wound up needing emergency surgery after sitting there for about 6 hours. I was told the estimated price and the deposit needed. I did ask if they had a payment plan which the tech said "no it must be paid up front" which later one I realized that you can do care credit so I didn't appreciate that that wasn't recommended as an option for me. So I gave them $5,500 as a deposit and was ready to visit with my baby before leaving. As I was visiting they approached me and told me they didn't have what they needed for my cats surgery so basically I had to bring her up to UF animal hospital 2 hours away. They did refund about $3,900 back onto my credit card for the surgery deposit. I started my journey with my cat at 10am and didn't get to the UF hospital until 6:30pm. It was an extremely long day I'm proud of my girl for getting through it. All in all I would obviously go back to this hospital for an emergency just know the wait will be long, the price will be high, AND you can definitely apply for care credit and use it the same day. I was immediately approved at the other hospital and used it that night to pay for the surgery.

This place is definitely an ER for life or death type emergencies, at least 1 animal was put down while we were there tonight. I really don't think a lot of their negative reviews are fair.

There are at least 3 doctors I saw, and so many vet techs who seem to love what they do. I really appreciate all that was done for my cat. I attached my bill as well to my review. Although kind of expensive, it is worth it to have my cat be alive and well. They did give me a discount, again, they were very kind. Base visit is $180 and anything additional will be added in a quote they will show you before more care is applied to your pet. They see cats and dogs, as well as other animals and exotic animals such as birds/rabbits/bearded dragons/etc. I would definitely come back here if my cats were in distress.

I'll start off by saying, kudos for being open on Christmas for emergencies like our car accident…read moresituation. But that's about all I'll say positive about our experience here. The front intake staff was good and friendly. The facility was clean and safe. If your pet has diarrhea or vomiting, this so called "hospital" can probably help you in an emergency with fluids and pills. It seems that's where their "hospital" supplies and support end. We sat in the front lobby for 3-1/2 hours because the "triage" nurse had our dog with a fully broken leg from a car accident listed as "stable and ok". We got pushed back for 2 other pets that came during that wait time. One did seem to be real emergency and needed help ASAP.Once we got in a room, the nurse spent a few minutes checking heart rate, eyes, tummy, then the leg. Also made us check weight a second time because someone forgot to write 34.7 kg down. No other body checks for a dog who was in a car accident. Doctor vet finally came in 30-45 minutes later and said "that's for sure broken, sorry I should have gotten to you sooner but he was listed as stable and ok on the chart". Even though he cried in pain for 3 hours in lobby. After spending a minute or maybe 90 seconds looking at him, she ordered "x-rays". Fully sedated our dog with anesthesia for an hour and only took ONE UNCLEAR XRAY! They took no blood or urine samples to check his body out. Dr came back in said "he needs a surgeon and we don't have one until next year". Then said with his arthritis, it would make surgery difficult. Handed us a list of other hospitals and specialists they knew of from Jupiter to Orlando to Gainesville to as to help us. Then gave us $667 bill for one xray, 2 prescriptions for pain, and splinter for the leg. No directions on how to help his leg stay stabilized except "put him in kennel". The next day after calling all their people on the list the next day, including the University of Florida we were told no one was staffed for a bone surgery for the holidays. Luckily I found a bone specialist down in Vero Beach who took us in Saturday. After reading the treatment summary and calling you guys, his staff and him could not believe that you guys only took ONE UNCLEAR XRAY of a small part of the leg. No blood or urine samples at all. With the specialist we got 7 xrays of the legs and 2 of the spine and chest without anesthesia! We were only there for 1-1/2 hours as well and they have a surgeon who can do surgery. On their xray array they also caught a prostate issue. That is how you give pets good care, is by actually checking them out fully. If you have something simple like dehydration or vomiting, these people can probably help. But if you want real useful healthcare with actual hospital style supplies and staff, I'd strongly suggest finding a more appropriate emergency hospital. After waiting so long and getting one xray and a splint then kicked down the road to a real vet hospital, I'd never return here again. I truly feel they owe me a full refund for at least the xrays, as they didn't even accomplish that simple task fully, and I had to pay to have them redone. PS The bone specialist said nothing about arthritis making this fix difficult.

Eddie came in very sick, and instead of guessing or rushing, the team took a very thoughtful and thorough approach. He had so many things done, including staying overnight multiple times, an echocardiogram, ultrasounds, blood work, PCV checks, and multiple rounds of testing to try to understand what was happening. It was all soooo confusing as to what was wrong with him, but the team never gave up. They carefully ruled things out, explained results clearly, and never made us feel rushed or like our questions were a burden. Eventually, the doctors shared that Eddie might be facing FIP or lymphoma which was so scary to hear - but they walked us through what that meant, what treatment options existed, and what to expect. They were honest, compassionate, and hopeful in all the right ways. We had the FIP medication overnighted and started it immediately, and have seen amazing results! This would not have been possible without Dr. Smith's intellect and dedication. Along the way, the staff constantly reminded us how much they loved Eddie and how sweet he is, which meant so much especially on the hard days. He has always been treated like a loved patient, not just "another cat." We were especially touched when Dr. Smith came in during his Thanksgiving break to care for Eddie when he needed treatment. That kind of commitment is rare, and we will never forget it!! Today, Eddie is gaining weight, healing, and slowly getting stronger, and we truly believe we wouldn't be here without the careful, dedicated care from this hospital. They called on Friday morning and said come get him, adding $400.00 to the $3,000.00 I had already paid. I brought him home, he didn't know who I was, and wouldn't eat anything and when he drank water, he had explosive diarrhea. Not only was his brain damaged but his organs were too. He just wanted to go hide under a large bush in the yard, and die. My vet came Saturday morning. Told me if a client comes to him with a dog with that temperature he recommends putting them down. They are basically toast. No one knows why his temp was so high, he was fine the night before, ate dinner, acted normal. Took his pills at 9:00pm.
