First, let me say that I am angry that I have to choose one star in order to leave a review for this veterinarian, because they don't deserve even one.
I no longer live in this area, but I do come to visit family often. This time, I arrived to find my cousin's dog in need of grooming, and a trip to the vet, for his rabies, his Heartgard, and NexGard chewables. My Aunt called the vet and they said we could bring him in, the following morning at anytime. Great!
But wait...
I wasn't having much luck finding an immediate grooming appointment, So, my Aunt called the vet back, the morning of his appointment, to see if they could also give him a bath and nail trim. He needed a good bath, because he stank badly, and his nails were overgrown. They assure us they can handle this, and to bring him on in.
We arrived with him just after 9 a.m., and go over in detail again, what we want done. His rabies vaccination, his heartworm test, and his monthly Heartgard and NexGard pills. In addition, please address the fly strikes on his ears, he needs a really good bath, a good brush out, blow dry, and a nail trim. They repeat all these things to us, again, assure us he's in good hands, and we leave. At 2 p.m. I call to see if he was ready. I was told he was, and I replied, that we would be down to get him shortly. We arrived just over an hour later, and I am barely through the door, when I'm already being told it will be just a couple of more minutes because he still hasn't had his rabies shot. I thought he was ready to go an hour ago??
Then, as I hear them walking him out of the back, I can already hear his nails have not been trimmed much, if at all. As I reach down to pet him, he's still wet. Not damp, wet! He had clumps of hair standing up all over him, too. Looked worse than when he was dropped off.
Was he actually bathed??!! No. He smelled (smells) as bad as he did when I picked him up, as when we dropped him off, and I was right about his nails! They barely took the tips off.
I'm too frustrated at this point, especially after being spoken rudely to, by the doctor, so, I pay the bill and leave. I get into the car with the dog, where my Aunt is waiting, and she can immediately smell his stench. As I pull out of the parking lot, she calls the vet back to voice her dissatisfaction. The tech told her that the doctor himself had given the dog his bath, and would we like to speak to him. Yes, yes we would. My Aunt tells him how unsatisfied she is with the condition of the dog, and the vet proceeds to feed her the biggest line of crap I've heard in a long time. He tells my Aunt that the dog will smell worse after a bath, before he smells better. Are you serious?? He also stated that he shampooed the dog twice, got oh so much hair out of him, and had him in the tub for a whole 15 minutes. Wait?! Did you say 15 minutes?! 15 MINUTES?!?!
Before I get into the next part, let me explain that I am a professional groomer, I know exactly what is entailed in grooming a German Shepherd, and it takes a lot longer than 15 minutes to lather and rinse them once, much less twice. The dog was there for six hours, he wasn't bathed properly. As a matter of fact, he still came home with dirt on him that was visible to the naked eye. He wasn't brushed, he wasn't dried properly, and his nails were barely trimmed, again, if at all. What about the fly strikes? Well, he's out of the cream for that. Sorry! But told me where I could pick some up. Really? How are you out of basic
supplies?! Especially if you know where to go get it....
After being spoken rudely to by the doctor, charged full price for everything, picked up a wet, smelly dog, then call back and voiced our concerns and dissatisfaction, only to be smugly dismissed over the phone. The topper to this amazingly, awful visit?? There was absolutely no offer of restitution of any kind, not even an apology. He didn't even offer to rebathe the pooch. (Not that I would have let him anyway)
Worst experience I have had with any business related transaction in some time.
I would not recommend this veterinarian to anyone who cares about their pet. Very unprofessional, staff is not knowledgeable about their chosen profession, and if the vet skills are on the same level as the bathing skills, well, that is simply scary for anyone's pet in their care.
