Fairly large and well organized thrift store. They had lots of clothes, furniture, toys, shoes, and accessories like scarves and belts. The clothes were organized by gender as well as size which I appreciated. Employees were super nice. There are two dressing rooms right by the register and I spoke with one of them to open it for me. This is honestly one of my favorite thrift stores in town. Not only because it helps support pets in need but also because you can find great items at reasonable prices. I often go in just to see what they have and will end up leaving with one or two items. Things donated here are usually pretty good quality too. Plus the staff is always very friendly and helpful. Loved seeing that they now have an enclosed area for adoptable cats. After asking about it to the cashier I learned that over 40 cats (maybe more) have been adopted since being there. Sweet to see! The animal humane thrift has been on my thrifting rotation for a while. Within the last year, they have moved into a newer, nicer location. they're still located off just a little further up. Now that they're in a larger location, they definitely have even more to look through. I will say a little disappointed with some of their pricing. My most recent trip, a lot of the clothing was in my opinion very overpriced for what you were getting. For example, we found a few decent dresses that weren't in perfect condition listed for $15+. Honestly, when it comes to clothing, you might as well go somewhere like Buffalo exchange where you're paying almost the same prices, but those items are already sorted through and quality checked. They are a good option for things like glassware or other household needs. read more

Appreciate their mission, however, the dog related items are more expensive than I can find new at Ross's and similar stores. A well worn collar for $9 is ridiculously expensive. Same with leashes, coats & harnesses. I go in occasionally and still find the same over-pricing. The items are marked as if new rather than used. read more

I had the folks from Animal Humane come out to collect some furniture that I was donating to the thrift store. They've been out to my house several times now to pick up large items that I am unable to move. Scheduling is easy and can be done online. They've upgraded their system so it's a lot easier now and you can pick your day and time on the online calendar. Every time I speak to the folks at Animal Humane they are kind, professional, and friendly. The people who came to move my items were likewise, nice and professional folks with whom to deal. You can donate any size items to Animal Humane however they will only come to pick up at your house if you have large items like furniture. Otherwise, you can feel free to drop off smaller items at the thrift store on Menaul. I love to donate used items and fortunately I've forged a great relationship with Animal Humane and the wonderful pick up service they provide. This is the best thrift shop in town!! It's like a department store & it actually smells good!! They have everything - not just animal stuff & it's well organized with nice displays. It's good quality at great prices & I buy almost everything except for groceries there. It's even better now that It moved in March (farther down Menaul to the empty Big Lots store) because it's now 4 times the size. Bring your dog(s) with you! The staff loves them & gives them treats! This became my favorite little thrift store three years ago. This was a small clean store with good quality items at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly to boot. I have shopped at their new location multiple times, and have noticed their prices have gone up drastically. I was disappointed during my last trip with the drastic price increase (double that of another item I purchased less than a month ago), and a rude staff interaction. With this individual being a manager, I expect much better customer service communication skills. Sadly, if they are not going to charge consignment store prices, it might be time to skip them and head to the consignment shop. Sadly, it seems they have lost that "little shop" respect for customers that I found as appealing as their once reasonable prices. read more

I love this store and their employees. They have a lot of great stuff and you can find hidden treasures. And of course anything that supports fur babies is a place I want to support. My 1 star reduction is that sometimes their pricing is what I would call overly optimistic. Just do your research online with higher priced items. The flip side is if you find something you love you may come back for it. I found a solid wood side table that was $75 but it was really well made and these days you pay that for particle board at Target. For a small store they do get a lot of furniture donations. And some really nice art and collectibles. And again staff is truly awesome read more

WOW...What a fabulous store. I was there twice yesterday donating items and the workers out in back were happy, thankful for our donations, helpful. Just a great experience. After the second load I went in to the new store for the first time. It's clean, it's beautifully organized, the volunteers are all helpful and happy. this used to be one of my favorite thrift stores, no more. along with the bigger store the prices also grew. now before you think think I'm a low baller, many people were coming out with empty hands, and some complaining about the pricing. an example: a half pint canning jar $3.00 , for 6.00 more I can buy a case of 12 with new lids and rings. I did spend 41.00 but had to be very careful and would have spent more. the inventory is nice but expensive. there were a minimal amount of children's clothing. the furniture was priced competitively. read more

Animal Humane takes donations from people. And this is a very good service. The money goes to the animals, of course, but there's a real problem with the place in that the bathroom hasn't worked for over 3 months, or so the fellow at the front says. We are humans. From time to time, we need to go to the bathroom. Not providing this service is not only disrespectful, it's a problem for the Animals because it deters is, the customers, from wanting to patronize the thrift store. The ones who end up suffering are the animals. Please get this problem fixed. Thank you. read more

I love this place. I bought a terrific coffee table here, ten bucks, and I've made about ten almost-buys. You know what I'm talking about? "Yeah, I definitely want these dinner plates. Love these. Except for... Well, okay, I don't love 'em. But they're... almost perfect. I'm buying 'em. I'm... Wait. I should come back. But maybe they won't be here when I get back. They're only six bucks. Six bucks, DUDE, buy 'em already. But I'm not... Well, okay, just wait. Wait. Hold off. Come back tomorrow." It's a bigger space, but certainly not huge, big enough to feature some solid couches, tables and other furniture, but nothing extensive. Interesting, somewhat overpriced art. Good clothes, nothing special, mainly for the ladies and kids. Shelves of knickknacks, with some good stuff for your four-legged besties, like floor cushions. Daily discounts on colored tags, so pop 'em. A really solid option when you only got twenty dollars in your pocket. read more

This will be a shop in my regular rotation. The items were higher quality than other thrift stores, the prices were decent on most of the items, and there were quite a few unique items. Unlike most thrift stores, I did not think their furniture section look like a bunch of stuff that needs to be thrown away. They had at white (!) upholstery couch on display that actually looked clean enough that I wouldn't be embarrassed to take it home. Unfortunately, that same couch was priced $200. I noticed too-high prices on some other furniture, as well. It would definitely be Worth finding out if they have a furniture sale day if you are shopping for furniture. read more

This is an amazing thrift store! Don't shop at thrift town or any of the other places on Menaul. It's a very big thrift store and the prices are exceptional. When I was there all shoes were on sale for $2.50 from $5! Also purple and peach tags I sale 50% off. What a steal! Very nice modern clothes, furniture, and misc. I think the stuff here is of nicer quality because people are donating nicer stuff here for a cause. But the prices are still super cheap! Go here! It's amazing! read more

As a collector of of oddities and uh... dogs... this place is right up my ally. It's one of the most-well managed, well-organized thrift shops in ABQ and the perfect place for a treasure hunt. They do their best to organize the myriad items and keep useless stuff off the shelves. I've found tons of cool books from the 60's and 70's and they have very decent vinyl selection if you're willing to put in the time to sort through it. The best part? You're not engaging in mindless corporate consumption AND you're helping our four-legged friends. Animal Humane is focused on maintaining the quality of life for New Mexico's pet population and your dollars help provide spay and neutering services as well as find homes for stray animals. The last three times I went to donate on a Saturday, the donation door was cordoned off with signs that they were no longer taking donations, and to take donations to Goodwill instead. My recommendation is for those out there looking for a fabulous place to donate your "still got a lot of love to give in them" items. We've donated furniture and household goods here multiple times. In fact, I'm ready to call them again. Bonus feature: they still come pick up furniture donations from your house and the staff who show up are courteous and efficient! Wow do I appreciate people who make it easy to not throw useful things into landfills! In fact, they took a love seat we had where one of the legs had been broken in a move. They recognized it was easily repairable and still in great shape and didn't hesitate to take it. We rescued both of our pets so I also enjoy knowing whatever revenue they can earn from our "no longer useful to us but just what someone else is looking for" stuff supports our furry friends in need. read more

I adopted my cat from animal humane and donated at that time to the organization, and on many occasions have purchased items from the thrift shop on Menaul. All this time they offered a public restroom, but when I went in there today I was told they no longer have it because people are stealing stuff. Since all items that the store has to offer are donated, I don't understand why they are so concerned with the theft of items as much as they should be about taking care of the customers who support their organization. I donated a small bag of clothes today.By mistake I left two brand new dresses in the bag that I had just bought. I went back not even 20 minutes later and they could not find the bag I offered to help look but they would not let me.I think they set them aside for themselves.I went out of my way to donate to them just to be ripped off.I really wanted to help the animals but will have to find another animal charity to support.
