Before Wonmanog, my boxer used to come home from a kennel in shell shock for a day or two. He would look thinner. Was it the constant barking? Or lack of sleep? I don't know. I have had dogs for my entire life- each with their own particular idiosyncrasies. I have loved everyone. Now in my older years my husband and I adopted a rescue pup during the pandemic - the dog grew larger than we thought it would. Our social contacts were limited because of the pandemic and so were those of our dog. While we worked hard to train her but nothing substitutes for professionals and the folks at Wonmanog did just that- through their unique set up they have done an incredible job at helping her mature and grow- they are strict but I like knowing what to expect and I enjoy the feedback so I know what to work on with my dog. We have been loyal customers since our dog was 3 months old (she will be 3 this Spring). They have helped us keep our little furry bundle of energy healthy both mentally and physically and they treat her like she is family. I bought my goldens for required daycare visit prior to boarding. Glad I did as owner was very abrasive and unwilling to answer my questions concerning an up coming board.My sweet female was a bit nervous ( wouldn't go through a dog door, she had never seen one)He labeled her as sensitive and would charge extra because she need to be bought in on a leash. Never offered to show us facility or go over their care. This definitely is not a caring environment.Owner even went so far as to tell us he was doing us a favor as he doesn't usually accept dogs for a one time board .He wanted us do daycare more often. read more

We started going to Wonmanog's daycare for our 7m old puppy. She quickly made friends and loved going. We then added our 7yr old dog, who had some issues with socialization, and they took him under their wing and helped him manage his anxiety. Now they BOTH love going! We also used them for a 6 day kennel visit, and they didn't even miss us! Needless to say, we love this place and highly recommend it. When you arrive there is no barking or chaos from the building. All you hear is groovy music playing inside, and all the dogs quietly running around having a ball outside. They get tons of playtime, and they provide the food etc when kenneling. We started bringing our young rescue puppy to Wonmanog when he was about a year old. He is a very active dog who likes to exercise and socialize. There is plenty of open space and exercise time for him and he always comes home happy and exhausted. He knows when he has arrived for daycare or boarding when we pull up and he is very happy to be there. This environment was crucial to getting our dog used to social situations with people and other dogs and he was much better behaved at home and in the neighborhood. Our first visit with them last year was OK. Our second was not so great. We were charged extra for a "special handling fee" and all the owner/front desk person told me was that upon arrival, our black lab was a little assertive and hyper. Well, to me, that sounds like typical dog behavior when being greeted with 15 other dogs! Our dog is socialized and friendly, but kennels are a little overwhelming for any dog. Additionally, despite being "up to date" on his kennel cough vaccine, our dog came down with it just 3 days after we picked him up. He did not have any symptoms, nor was he around other dogs, prior to drop off. He is healthy and young, so he will be fine. But if you have an older dog or one with preexisting health problems, just be aware that picking up this illness is a very real possibility - even though all the dogs are supposed to be current with the kennel cough vaccine. read more

We have been taking our Catahoula Leopard Dog to Wonmanog for about 4 years now and there is not a better kennel around for your pooch. Tom Sr. and Tom Jr. are amazing with dogs. They truly understand canine behavior and can manage a lot of dogs at the same time. They also truly care about and love dogs. Our dog Merle can't wait to get in there when we arrive and is very energetic and content when we pick him up. They have given us a heads up to possible bad behavior when it occurs, suggestions on how to fix it, and they tell us when Merle has had a great day. Our dog always comes home happy and pooped out. We thoroughly enjoy taking our German Shepherd to the kennel. Everyone in this family business is nice and friendly. They love to see our dog and make a fuss over her. She feels at home and enjoys interacting with other dogs. The owners even take time to tell us about the friends our German Shepherd has made with all sorts of dogs that come there. This place is great with small dogs. I have boarded my Yorkie and Westie at Womanog Kennels at least ten times. The kennel is clean and the owners are very polite. My Yorkie is a senior and requires a special diet. They work with her to meet her special needs. They even board the two dogs together and offer a discount for dual boarding. The longest I have left them at the kennel was nine days and they came back happy and were cared for. I'm sure they would allow you to tour the kennel area if you have concerns. I think this place is great and I will absolutely take my two back for boarding. read more

Wonderfully run, family owned and operated, they don't hire out to inexperienced teenagers looking for part time work after school as many other kennels do. We have been taking our dogs here for close to 9 years and every time we pick them up they are happy, healthy and better than when we drop them off. Our dog died last April, but i want to highly recommend Wonmanog as the BEST kennel you could possibly leave your dog. The entire family who runs Wonmanog are wonderful people who take the time to know the behaviors of each individual dog and structure their stay there to meet their needs(even 'senior' dogs). After kenneling our dog there at least 2 dozen times, I can say that our dog was always excited to go there(like a vacation for her) and we found the owners and staff to be skillful, caring and compassionate toward each animal. On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to take my dog to this kennel which is 45 minutes drive from my home. It was worth it. My dog was a little tentative going in for the first time, but the second time I took him, he could not wait to get inside. When I picked him up, he was very happy. The kennel is very clean. There is no odor whatsoever. I was amazed to find that they supplied the food, and a very high quality food at that! There is no barking or howling. The dogs seem content. Our dog Chocolate struggles to get along with other dogs, except her sister, but at Wonmanog, she does great. They treat them like family but also know how to handle difficult dogs. This is the best kennel in the western philadelphia suburban area. It's family run and my dogs LOVE it! They can't get out of the car fast enough. The owners are helpful and accommodate my one dogs allergies with ease which includes shots and pills. We drive over 30 minutes one way to board our dogs here. The kennel is very clean and my dogs never have that kennel smell when I pick them up. The only tiny negative I can say is the pick up and drop off hours can seem to be a little unaccomadating but after understanding that one its family run and two this gives them more time for them to be with the dogs, I totally get it. I love that their price is set, no up charges for extra outside time like at other kennels. I highly recommend! read more

I have been boarding my pointer at Wonmanog for 5+ years. He loves go there and runs right to the door when he gets out of the car for the drop off. One fall we boarded him almost every weekend for 3 months straight and he still ran to the door! The owners truly care about and know how to manage dogs. They give them a good amount of exercise and socialization, nicely balanced with rest and quiet time. My dog built a strong bond with the owners son and looks for him as soon as I drop him off. My dog has always been well cared for and happy when I pick him up. I drive over 30 minutes to take him to Wonmanog. I first went to Wonmanog Kennels back in 1997 when I took my German Shepherd Show dog there for 3 weeks of boarding. My dog , who also had food allergies, stopped eating a few days after arrival. Tom Fink called me, from his kitchen, to our cabin in NH to tell us about Ranger's hunger strike, and that he was cooking up batches of lamb and rice for him just to get him to eat. You can't find this kind of service anywhere. I'll never forget my first time there. Dogs where jumping out of their cars and away from their owners to run to Tom. The smaller dogs literally jumped into his arms. I was ready to vacation at the kennel and send my dog to NH, I was so impressed. I moved away and when I came back to the area recently, I contacted Tom at Wonmanog to board my current German Shepherd for a few days. Nothing has changed. The service, the quality of care and the attention the dogs get is still the same. My GSD has been there twice already, and he too runs from our car and can't wait to get to Tom and give him a big kiss. I first started using Wonmanog eight years ago when Tucker, my golden retriever, was having alpha male and food aggression issues. Tom worked with both Tucker and me to curb these issues. He was honest and stern with both of us, but it was what we needed. Tucker has been going there ever since for both daycare and boarding. He is now fourteen, and has old age issues. He is frail and finds it difficult to get up and move around. They give him special treatment and bedding and take wonderful care of him. He had a stroke last fall, and Tom told me to bring him there so they could nurse him back to good health. After three weeks he went from being completely helpless to functioning almost normally. I cannot say enough good things about Tom, Tommy and Tonja. They run a tight ship but love the dogs, and the dogs love them. The dogs know that they are safe there and loved, and act accordingly. Tucker cannot wait to get out of the car in the morning, and does not want to come home with me at night. Whether he is there eight hours or five weeks, he always acts the same, glad to see me but sorry to leave. I talk to many of the families as we come and go, and have never heard anything but wonderful things about the kennel or the owners. read more
