This is my newest absolute favorite thrift store!!! Well done, Ann Arbor, Michigan! I only wish I lived closer!! I was visiting from Chicago for the day and found this shop on Yelp. Thank you to the other Yelpers who mentioned that there is no customer bathroom available. I made a stop nearby first for that. Yes, there is no bathroom which is unfortunate as I would have had to leave if I didn't know that in advance. I wish they would consider adding a bathroom as emergencies happen, even if you prepare. Price, selection, quality and unique variety (lots of arts and crafting materials) all great. Super clean and organized so well! Team members were all so nice and seemed like they really liked working there!! That's a good sign. I can't wait to return. I bought a car full of toys, shoes, craft materials, and kitchenware. Oh, and a fab lamp!! The parking lot made me nervous though!! This place was packed on a Thursday at 1:30 pm. There was a line of cars down the street waiting to enter the lot, and cars were backing up so close to others, watched two accidents nearly happen while waiting for a spot. This is a busy thrift store, full of treasure that changes frequently. There is a main store, and a smaller separate store (with fancier stuff - ish). Check out both. Because of the popularity of this store, it is fair to say you can expect to find new offerings all the time. Outside of the fact that all items are second hand, and therefore cheaper than a brand new item, the prices are a little higher than other thrifts. However - it's very clean and very well organized, and that requires a lot of staff hours. Everyone that works there knows what they are doing - it's a well oiled machine. You have to pay a fee to use a credit card, so bring cash. read more

A fun place full of stuff. If you like to look here they are. They have multiple departments. They even had a few albums. Some way overpriced but places always think they have treasures, seems normal. They have lots of clothes. And it's large. Fun place to kill some time. read more

Not sure what's going on with this store lately, specifically the clothes section. Seems the clothing racks are less and less full every time I go, and the same tired pieces are there week after week after weeks. It was an OK vibe - a lot of staff walking about and assisting with everyone. I didn't purchase anything but browsing. There surprisedly a jewelry section which is behind glass; so maybe this could be an option. Please note there's another entrance which has more vintage options and fine china. Easy convenient parking, there's some interesting finds in here. Depending when you're looking for her, you could probably find a lot of treasures for your collection. The price varies. Some things seem to be reasonable. Others are a little bit over price for what you're buying. I did not get to so I don't know what the services. Overall it was OK probably won't come back to this one though. read more

This is such a awesome thrift shop that we stumbled upon accidentally. I was really impressed with the different selection of items that they had in the store. We walked up to a huge area filled with arts and craft items, that expanded across a few different areas. I was excited to see they had paint too. We picked up a few different bottles of acrylic paint. I was tempted to purchase the big bag of play-doh tools as well. All of the prices were suowr fair. They even had an area for sewing with yarn and other craft items. They also have a lot of other items at this store including clothing, decor, games, toys, kitchen, and utensils. I was looking for a place to buy some time and found this gem. The parking lot was poppin on a Sunday afternoon. They have furniture, kitchen needs, clothing, shoes, and even craft supplies. Before I start my next project, I will be coming here to look for knitting needles. They even had a drawer full of embroidery thread. There were also complete afghans for $2! I was also able to find a pair of Clark's heels for $9 (retail $70ish) that were just like new. They even accept card. All around a great place to shop. read more

This is one fantastic thrift store, ESPECIALLY if you are looking for fabric or crafting items. The glassware/kitchenware is really inexpensive. The clothing is a bit more, but cheaper than the goodwill. If you go when it is busy, all the carts will be taken. Wait for one, trust me. You'll fill it up! I loved the wall of pez above the checkout. I love even more that this WHOLE store supports public education (run by the PTO!). The prices here are the best around. I got a water bottle I love and have been using for 6 months for 50 cents. I also got a pair of black pants for 50 cents that I love. They are really nice. The craft selection is the best I have ever seen in a thrift store. They are all volunteers and it benefits the Ann Arbor PTO. The service was friendly and fast. read more

Definitely worthy of being on a thrifter's list of stores to check out. There are two separate areas to shop so make sure you don't miss the smaller "Showcase" entrance a little further down the sidewalk from the main front door. True to its name, the Showcase features the cream of the crop items. The main area includes furniture, dishes and glassware, household items, clothing, toys and a great collection of well-sorted craft supplies and teaching materials. Prices are fair and discounts are available for students, seniors, military, Ann Arbor public school staff and everyone in their birthday. Look up as you pay, there's a great collection of Pez dispensers and rubber ducks on display at the registers (and elsewhere around the store). read more

I love this place. Easily my preference over Salvation Army whose prices have become a bit much and Value world for whom you need a coupon to feel real "value". All prices are fixed so that skirts are say $3, pants a set price, etc. loads of books, and often find a treasure here. You'll experience added value with the discount they give you on set ticket color (yesterday all green tickets were 50 cents). My kids enjoy shopping here because they offer a decent collection of games, toys, etc. The best part about shopping here is that the proceeds go directly to Ann Arbor public schools. First let's me say that I love knowing that the money I spend is going to a great cause. They have a huge selection from books to furniture to craft supplies. Let me rave for a moment about their craft supplies. Everything was labeled very well, they have sections for sewing, scrapbooking, paper crafts, yarn. It was an absolute delight to walk in and be able to search through what they had without having to dig and search. The store was very clean and very well organized. I absolutely loved visiting here today! They had a huge variety of EVERYTHING, and for great prices! I got 15 glasses, 4 bowls, 5 sweaters and a picture frame for $40, and that wasn't including any of their sales. I use this store for used clothing. High quality and I don't care if they are imperfect because they are going to be put through a lot of wear on my job as a paint mixer. I also find Land's End, Eddie Bauer, Loft, Liz Claiborne etc. pretty regularly too. All together, they are my FAVORITE thrift store. Proceeds to A2 schools. The Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop is well organized. Of course, they have the expected used clothing for the entire family, shoes, housewares (even a few Corningware pieces), trinkets including scented candles, books & music, videos and puzzles. I guess the clothing was a bit more than I'm used to paying at Value Village, but it's pretty nice stuff, and well organized. Bring a measuring tape, or hold it up against yourself at one of the mirrors. Tip: Bring your own shopping tote with you. I started to get sneezy from the dust, but there were bargains to be had, so I persisted in browsing through the surprisingly nice tote bag section (smaller zipper pouches less than $1, purse sized $2~3), the sewing patterns, the craft section (including quilting fabric remnants!) and the linens. Even if a genuine, 100% linen napkin is stained, it can be cut up and used for crafts. But at these prices (50 cents each) it's worth the risk to try bleaching (gently) with some OxyClean, or even overdying with a strong brew of black tea. Then make a pincushion or a cute stuffie. Idea: Use a tote bag to wrap an assortment of small gifts - that way, the tote is part of the gift. That's what I'm planning to do, anyway, for Christmas presents this year. A2 PTO is just down the street from another thrift shop, the Ann Arbor Reuse Center, so stop at both places on the same day for some thrifty fun! read more

I am impressed by the workers care in presenting items: The store is filled with reusable items: the profit is given back to the schools, that is so important! I have dropped off many items this year.( a family member died) I think that your procedures are excellent, fair and your staff is very well trained. The Ann Arbor PTO puts its proceeds towards public schools, which I am all about and which added one star to their review. They have a wide selection of things -- clothing, jewelry, furniture, kitchen supplies, decorations, DVDs. It's pretty much full range in there. I will admit whenever I go into a thrift store I always look for the cheap bling and I got my favorite gold from here. Since it does not receive as much traffic as the Salvation Army or Value World, you will probably run into more great finds at this place. You will not believe this hot 60's vintage pantsuit I found with a plunging neckline! Totally Foxy Brown. I also found my fuzzy white coat there, and I get tons of compliments on it. If you're looking for a bargain, find out when their half off days are. Also, they are part of Recycle Ann Arbor and are near other places where you can find second hand goods, like the Reuse Center and the Salvation Army. read more

The two sweaters I bought here had bad stains once I brought them home, so look at everything thoroughly. The customer service sucked and the employees were rude (as a nice way to put it.) This thrift store doesn't have the largest collection of most things, but it has a nice selection of several, and it's got a fun and funky atmosphere. I went here with friends on a Sunday afternoon, and it was hopping with people, from middle aged men to soccer Moms with little ones. They have clothing, house goods, furniture, books and all the other things you'd expect at a thrift store. Their selection of books is smaller than at several other thrift and resale shops I've been to, but the selection of children's books is actually pretty respectable. They also sell smaller items that I've had trouble finding elsewhere. I've been looking to buy one small white button to replace a missing one from a favorite shirt, but many thrift stores don't deal in items that small. The PTO thrift store had a box of buttons you could sort through, and I found the perfect button for 10 cents. It saved me a trip and a buck or two that I would have spent at a retail fabric store. And, even though the book selection wasn't as good as other resale shops I've been to, it was pretty well organized. I found a book, memoirs by Reeve Morrow, that I've been seeking for ages. It was a hard cover in good condition, and I scored it for $1. And, as if that weren't enough to make my day, I got a discount at the register. They have a small child's toy slot machine at the front counter, and if you pull the handle and "win," you get a discount. The fun atmosphere and the good prices will make the PTO a new favorite on my list of local thrift stores. read more

I came here looking for a few different items (dresser, desk, dining table, coffee table, side tables), and unfortunately couldn't find any of that. Their selection was incredibly small, and what they did have wasn't very appealing. I know it's peak buying season in Ann Arbor, but it also seems to be peak selling season (as everyone switched apartments and either moves into town or out of town), so I expected there to be more and was disappointed. read more

I came back here and found a sweet red and black 80s dress (which just needs some minor alteration) as well as some truly weird old board games. The thing that made me nervous about buying a board game here was that all of the games were sealed, with a label reassuring the customer that the PTO had checked and that all of the pieces were inside. I guess I'm just cynical, though... it turns out the PTO did just fine and all of the game pieces were indeed included! Way to go, PTO! There was also a pin that was a hot pink silhouette of an eagle. I am kicking myself for not purchasing it immediately! *Note... if you read this, please do not go buy it. About a decade ago I used to work there, It is your quintessential thrift store but I think the best thing about it is that it helps the schools. The profits help the schools they do a program where every five dollars you spend you get a token and there are three choices of groups that want your money they award money to all three of the groups but in a first second and third place setting. This is my favorite thrift store in the whole county! It's where I donate my goods and it's where I buy more! I have recommended it to many many people! read more

I have been a super fan of the Kiwanis store for years, but finally wandered over to the AA PTO thrift store, which is pretty much as spectacular! (And open more than 3 hours a week) I am absolutely in love with their arts & crafts selection and organization!! The crafting book selection is larger than that of many book stores. I don't sew much, but they have tons of patterns. I play with any art medium, and will be coming here frequently for inspiration and cheap supplies. I love mugs and kitchen things too! PTO is great for crafts. There are aisles of yarn, buttons, and fabrics. There's a room with just woven baskets for Easter or a cute picnic. The other half of the room is filled with children toys. I came for furniture and shelving, but couldn't find anything I could repurpose with minimal effort. This place didn't smell like a typical thrift store. A pretty large store, they have just about anything you could want. A very large craft section as well as dishes and glasses. Their clothing section is not as large as I'd like, and the quality of clothing brands they get aren't as nice as some of the other thrift stores in the area, but it's also a lot smaller of a selection for clothes so you're not overwhelmed. Saturday students get a discount and they have a colored tag for discounted items each week. A little disorganized, but it's so big I can't imagine being able to keep it neater than it is. Prices are fair, you just need to be willing to dig to look for things you want. read more
