Terrific experience. Called them after a sewer line backup in the basement had soaked a 12'x15' portion of the carpet. I had removed the wet padding under the carpet and draped the carpet over some chairs to dry with some fans. They suggested I could set the carpet down to regain its shape. They stopped by to check things out and sprayed everything with a natural fungicide, etc. when they gave me the estimate. They returned a couple days later, replaced the padding, stretched and cleaned the carpet so it looks like new. They also cleaned the basement steps and the portion of carpet on the main floor that they had walked on. They were a pleasure to work with, didn't try to upsell me on anything, did the job they said they would do, very professional. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I am a real estate agent and had a carpet emergency right before a showing appointment. I could not get anyone to come out until I called Ann Arbor Rug and Carpet. They said they would send someone right over. When I called my clients to let them know that I found someone to take care of the stain, my clients said the cleaners had just pulled up!! A faucet leak soaked a quarter of my finished basement. I called Ann Arbor Rug & Carpet, and they quickly pulled up the affected carpet and removed the part of the padding that was soaked. After 2 days of drying, they added fresh padding and put the carpet back and cleaned it. Price was reasonable. read more

The two technicians who came out were very polite and helpful, but surprisingly they refused to take their shoes off. We live in a new neighborhood off a dirt road and there is no grass - so very dusty and dirty outside. There is also just the normal dirt on street shoes. I asked them to take their shoes off and they said that wouldn't make sense bcz then their feet would get wet. Then they proceeded to spot spray and rub the spray in with their tennis shoes. I understand they don't want their feet to get wet, but it would be helpful if the company provided them w a plastic covering over their shoes. I don't know if this is their normal protocol or a one off, but I did call the office and alert them to this surprising practice. Otherwise, the staff was very professional and helpful, and I was able to get an appointment quickly. Would have given at least four stars if they had covered their shoes. read more

We have white carpeting which is 20 years old throughout our home. We have grandchildren and dogs visit regularly and do not always take off our shoes. Thanks to Ann Arbor Rug & Carpet Cleaning who have cleaned our rugs yearly everyone always comes into our home and asks how we keep the rugs looking so nice. We have used them for 30 years ever since we moved to Ann Arbor and they always do a terrific job. Not sure there has ever been a stain they haven't been able to remove. They are fast, efficient, courteous, helpful, and always reliable. They are affordable too. We wouldn't know what to do without them. I wouldn't take a chance on anyone else. read more

When we moved out of our condo in the Ann Arbor area, we hired Ann Arbor Carpet and Rug Cleaning to come in after we left and shampoo the wall-to-wall carpeting (approximately 950 square feet worth). They quoted us a very reasonable price over the phone of approximately $0.25 per square foot. We dropped a key off on our way out of town, and they did the cleaning a few days later. The first awesome thing that happened is that since the house was empty (no furniture), they reduced the rate to $0.22 per square foot. Hooray! I have been back to the property several times since we moved and am very impressed with the quality of Ann Arbor Carpet and Rug Cleaning's work. The carpets throughout the house look brand new. We lived in the property for over three years, and those carpets are near white in color, so this is some fine work. The only reason I am not giving Ann Arbor Carpet and Rug Cleaning five stars is that paying them was a minor hassle. When I called to book the service, I provided my credit card number. Because we had so many expenses related to moving on the card, I did not notice when Ann Arbor Carpet and Rug Cleaning did not apply a charge. Shortly after they cleaned our carpets, we received an invoice in the mail, but no payment slip or instructions. I assumed we were paid since I'd given my credit card information and filed the invoice away. A few months later, we received a second invoice with "overdue" stamped on it. I called and supplied a different credit card number--an AmEx--after asking if they accept that type of card. They said yes, then called back and left a voice mail saying actually, no. It ended up being several days before I got the message and called them back with yet another credit card number (actually, the original credit card). They were really nice through this process, but it was a pain in the butt and I would suggest they provide clear payment instructions with their invoices. I also don't feel totally secure having provided my credit card number initially and not having it be used--where did it go? Highly recommended--good quality service, very reasonable pricing, nice people. read more

This is by far the best customer service I have ever experienced. You would be crazy to use any other rug/carpet cleaning service in Michigan. I had to get a stain out of a wool area rug and get it back in a short time frame. The rug came back looking fresh!They are super professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and speedy!!!! I have used Ann Arbor Carpet Cleaning for years. My last two services from them have been poor. The companies original owners have retired. The kids have taken over and are doing a poor job. RUDE. I called yesterday about getting my carpet cleaning and they told me that they could come this afternoon and that they would call me first and took my name, number and my address - they were also careful to tell me that they had a $100.00 minimum. At two I finally called to check and see what was going on and when they were coming and the woman was so incredibly rude and told me I wasn't on the schedule. So then as I was writing this, the poor technician calls and says that he is ready to come clean my carpet. I told him the situation and he was really sweet and promised he would do a great job. HOWEVER, he is hourly, makes practically nothing. I'll find a decent local carpet cleaning company eventually and be able to write a good review! Vic and Brian did the most recent annual carpet cleaning on December 6, 2017, and also cleaned and scotch-guarded two loveseats. We have light colored carpet that's 17 years old, which they keep looking like new, and helped us keep the prior carpeting going to 20+ years. Vic, who came out to do the cleaning is professional, very polite, communicates well, and he did a good job cleaning my carpet. I wish the whole company was like Vic. But the staff who answers the phone at their office, especially Penny Joffe, is the polar opposite. Just like another yelp review states, Penny was extremely rude and would prefer to yell and argue on the phone than try to have a civil conversation. She's also terrible at responding to e-mails. I originally spoke to her on the phone to get a quote for cleaning the carpet in my condo. She sent me an e-mail confirming the appt date/time, but didn't include the quoted costs. So I responded to her e-mail and included the costs that she had given me over the phone. She never replied to my e-mail. After the job, I was surprised when the bill was nearly twice the quote. I forwarded Penny my previous e-mail with the quote. Again, no response. I called and asked to speak to Penny, and the first words out of her mouth were "What's the problem?!" Then Penny began lecturing me about how she's been doing this work for 25 years and there is no way she would have provided the lower quote. I don't know if she miscalculated the original quote or she thought the square footage was smaller than what it actually was. I was happy to pay the higher amount if there was a mistake on my part or hers, and I was just seeking an explanation for the difference. Instead of providing that simple explanation, Penny immediately became rude and told me "The price is what it is. If you don't like it, then don't use us again!" The actual cleaning from this company is good, but the customer service and communication with the office (not the actual folks doing the cleaning) is so bad that I'd highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
